It's that time of year
when we button up the hatches
preparing for a long cold winter.
I've been starting to clean up all of
the garden areas and bring in
the end of the harvest.
All of these spaghetti squash came
from four plants :)
Those on the ground I'm giving away,
and the ones in the cart are headed
to the well-house for winter storage.
I love them with butter and black pepper.
I picked some, not ripe yet, tomatoes
and put them in the well-house to slowly ripen,
out of the way of frost.
It keeps us in tomatoes through Thanksgiving :)
Speaking of the well-house . . .
on the building and on the fence where those two trellis are,
I've planted Trumpet Vines
and look at the petty chrysanthemums.
One of them looks just like a daisy :)
In the house I finally hung my
$10 yard sale mirror.
Remember the pretty little rug from
Nova Scotia that
our sweet neighbor brought me back from
They make such a pretty display in the fall.
This is what could be my last rose of the season.
These are African daisies.
They are from seed that my sweet
neighbor & friend gave me last spring.
They came up in yellow and orange
and I think that they will reseed themselves.
I love flowers that do that :)
We said that we were going to hold off
on building anymore of the back fence until next spring.
Well, we got the bug to work on it some more
and added another hundred feet or so.
This is that area in the spring
after we cut the dead tree down.
I was looking for before photos of that area
of our property and could not find many.
When things look bad and messy,
we just don't take photos of them, do we?
The grass was so high back there
that we borrowed a neighbor's goats to eat it down.
There was so much junk in that grass
that we could not see it, to get it out.
This is after the goats and
Steve brought a backhoe in to clear the junk.
That dead pine is the one we cut down.
Now I'm waiting for those shrubs to grow
and cover the mounds of dirt and small rubbish.
We still find small pieces of metal
back there when we plant and dig.
It is so much better now, don't you agree?
This has been a long post.
If you are still here, thank you.
I went to the doctor last week and
I'm going again this morning . . .
not feeling well, but on the mend.
Have a lovely week.
