Mailbox Surprise From A Dear Blogging Sister

Can someone living in North Carolina
actually have a heart as big as Texas?

The answer is Yes!

This lovely card and 2 yards of
vintage printed fabric
arrived in my mailbox last week.

It's from Melba aka
"Henny Penny"

Henny

Home

Melba is amazing!
She grows a marvelous garden.
Makes old fashioned Aprons & Sun Bonnets.
Raises farm animals with
as much love and care as children.
Then, on top of all of that
she and her husband live in a cabin
on a piece of property that they have worked
hard on to create a paradise.

If you do not follow her blog . . .
you are missing the joy
on knowing this incredible soul.

You can find her blog here, just clink:

Look at these children up close.

Aren't they adorable.

I've not been sewing much since
Steve's diagnoses.
I just don't like being out in the Art Barn
away from him.

So, I dug out my old Viking and
brought it into the house.
I haven't used this machine in years
and it is so far behind my new one
that it's more work.
I actually have to thread my own needle
and cut the threads after sewing.

"Poor Me, Right"  LOL

Have a sweet day . . .
Keep Smiling . . .
and if you visit and follow
Melba for the first time,
tell her I sent you :)

Your blogging sister,
Connie :)

  3. What a sweet gift and perfect for you. How horrible that you have to thread your own needle. That's practically out of the dark ages...lol

I know this is a terribly stressful time for you and Steve and you are in my prayers always.

  5. Oh yes, a most wonderful thing to bring your sewing machine into that pretty home of yours and stitch away while you care for your Steve. Those vintage fabrics are a joy. Have the most beautiful time stitching on that machine of yours. Truly Melba has gifted you a most beautiful gift.

  6. Oh Connie, If there is anyone who can find the perfect use for that cute fabric, it's you. Now, how can I ever thank you for such a sweet, kind, post. You are the amazing one. Why, I've just looked at your July 4th post. It's beautiful, and all that raspberry jam. Thank you Connie. You really are a sweet blogging sister.

  10. There are sewing machines that thread the needle and cut the thread? Modern inventions! My machine is a 40 year old Kenmore that Dennis got for me the first Christmas we were married. It still works like a dream. :-) . I'm glad you're sewing again.
That was such a sweet gift of Melba to send to you. She knows you well doesn't she? I'm going to go check out her blog. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Wishing you and Steve a wonderful evening and prayers are still being raised to the Throne room of God for you both.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  13. Hi Connie- very nice of Henny to send to you these splendid gifts...the printed fabric children reminds me of the German 'Humel' miniature figures which I brought back from Germany in 2015 - they are adorable. All the best to you and Steve. Regards. KEV.

  14. Connie, I love the cute fabric. It's nice you have the old portable machine that still works. :) I like Henny's blog. I just looked at your previous post...wonderful 4th pictures. Your house looks so nice all decorated. Praying for you and Steve. Stay strong. Ted is getting maintenance chemo in a shot form in his tummy every day this week. He has 29 more days to reach the 100th day mark. Blessings and prayers my friend, xoxo, Susie

  18. So nice of Melba to send a gift your way. This reminds me of the scripture, "He who refreshes others will himself be refreshed." You certainly have refreshed me with your friendship, Connie. Praying for Steve and you, sweet friend. Hugs, Nancy

  19. Oh isn't that so sweet of her, great vintage fabric :) That's nice you were able to bring in a machine and start a little sewing project. You know I have the machine that threads itself and cuts but I like my old one more.

  21. The fabric is so darling and so is the picture she sent! What a sweet lady. I went and took a look at her blog.. is full of fun and quirkiness and loved all the farm posts, etc. I can see that fabric as a darling apron too... or curtains, or pillows or an old fashioned clothesline bag to hold the clothes pins. My mom always had one of those! I'm so glad you have a sewing machine set up in the house. It's there whenever the mood strikes you to sew something, which is always good. Mine sits on the floor and if I feel like sewing, I'm just too lazy to get it up on the table or my work table as it's usually full of other paper crafting stuff! It's nice to have a dedicated sewing area, that's for sure! As always you are both in my prayers. Hugs.. Marilyn

  24. Thanks for telling us about Melba, I took a look and will go back later when I have more time, there was so much to see. I couldn't find the follower button, but I will look again. I love your fabric with the little children. I will keep an eye out for anything in that line. Thinking of you!!!

  25. What a lovely and thoughtful gift. The children in the pattern remind me of the illustrations in the books I learned to read with in elementary school... that tells you how old I am!

  27. What wonderful gifts from Melba! I'll visit her for sure! My old sewing machine that I had for 20 years finally gave out... daughter-in-law gave me hers since she doesn't know how to sew (and doesn't want to learn). Not a new machine, so it's still the kind I must thread and cut myself, too... used to that anyway LOL! Blessings to you, Connie! ♥
