Quilting In Circles

Thanks for stopping by to visit.

We are both feeling better
and
I'm still working on my
Sun Bonnet Quilt.

In the comments on my last post
I had a few of you ask how I
stitched the double circles.

There are many markers on the
market to draw patterns on fabric,
but they all have warnings about checking
if they will wash out before using.
So, I don't like to use them.

What I do
is purchase a small felt square,
around 35 cents at WalMart.
I can cut many shapes from one
of these squares.

I pin it on and quilt around it.

Then I make another roll of
stitches inside this one.

And sometimes more rows.

It's pretty easy and doesn't
leave a mark,
and you can cut and stitch
any shape you want.

I'm also using hearts on this quilt.

 Happy Quilting!

Thank you so much for your prayers.
We are very appreciative.
God bless you all!

P.S. Tomorrow is our one year anniversary from the doctors
giving Steve 6 months.

Hallelujah, God is good!

  1. Connie, I also use a template like this to quilt around, except I had never thought of using felt. Good choice, since it doesn't ravel. I love to use circles; they help break up the straight lines of the pieced pattern.
Great news about the anniversary; indeed, God is good!

  15. Oh, hallelujah! What wonderful news that you're both better and Steve has more than doubled the odds given to him. Prayer is a marvelous thing. I will continue praying for both of you.
I really enjoyed you showing us how you quilt in circles. I hadn't thought much about it because I'm really not a quilter but now that you've shown us it is really fascinating. Such pretty circles. And your embroidery is so neat and perfect too.
Wishing you and Steve a wonderful day tomorrow. It's supposed to be in the 50's! Can you believe it?
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  26. Connie,
What a wonderful blessing to be a year forward from that (devastating) doctors guess.
Supposing that doctor didn't figure in blessings, faith and prayers!

I think of you often, and would be so happy to live close by you... I would love to learn quilting from you.
Your quilts are always so pretty.

    Sending {{hugs}} you way.
    ~K.

[hoping to be back to blogging soon... fingers crossed]

  28. I’m so glad you commented on my blog, Connie. I hadn’t saved yours, and was missing it. Now I have it. I’m so impressed with your quilt-making, so much stitched by hand! My hands keep me from all hand sewing these days, the price we pay for using them so hard when younger. I guess. But it allowed me to re-enter the world of painting. So I look forward to following along! Your felt templates for quilting shapes are genius. So simple and effective. Beautiful quilt making!
