Finished Quilt and Slipcovers

There are a lot of photos

in this post, but hopefully it 

will be an encouragement to

any of you that might be thinking 

about trying these projects at home. 

 

I'll start with photos  of

the finished quilt.

made with scraps from many 

previous quilts.

Now on to the chair.

I have been looking at slipcovers

on-line, just because they are not

my favorite project.

Although; I do know that if you

make them yourself, you get a much

better fit.

Those one size fits all items are

a joke in slipcovers as well 

as clothes. 

 

Here it is done, except for 

the cushion and the cushion was

my biggest fear.

When I was looking on-line the 

prices jumped from $50 to $150

if the chair had "T" cushions. 

That sent me a signal that they would

be very difficult to make.

 

 

It was a myth  . . . as most fears are.

I looked at how the chair was upholstered

and made my pattern accordingly

and it went together just fine.

 Oh, how many times have we let

"FEAR" 

get in our way? 

 

 

 To make the rounded arms fit

snugly I made ties under each one. 

First I tried elastic but it didn't

fit well. 

 

After completing the chair,

I decided to cover the ottoman, too.

 

 

I had another tarp, so why not.

All I had to do was take it

from the package and give it a good wash.

This is a very important step!

They will shrink and you want that 

to happen before making any project.

 If I would have bought these two slipcovers

because of the  "T" cushion I would 

have spent about $180 plus tax and shipping. 

Instead the two tarps were about $35.
