A Visit From Jack Frost

We got our first frost last

night and the season

for growing is over.

Good bye to bouquets picked

fresh for the table.

A couple of weeks ago

I thought that this would

be my last bouquet of the

season . . .

But now with our visit from

Mr. Jack Frost

I'm sure this one is 😒

I do enjoy picking fresh

flowers for the table.

Harvesting the last

of my carrots and onions.

It's been a very busy

couple of weeks.

Working to clear

and clean

the vegetable garden.

A trip to the ER

followed by an appointment

with a orthopedic surgeon.

(all is well . . . I'm

getting better and no need

for surgery . . .

Boy, that took a load off!!!

A beautiful gift from

a friend of this little

blue chicken.  She has

chickens in her decorating

but mostly red, brown and black.

She knew that blue is my color

and before donating to a

charity shop she asked

me if I'd like it.

Isn't it adorable.

I love it!

Oh, and I purchased

this new living room

rug from Amazon.

It's one of those washable

rugs 9X12, but it was so

heavy that I had to roll

the box in.

It says to use a heavy duty

giant laundromat machine.

I can't image how heavy it

will be wet. I'll need

help when it comes time

to wash it 😳

  🍂🍂🍁🍁🍁🍂🍂

Well, if your still reading,

I just want to say

thank you for visiting

and if you have

the time, please leave

a comment.

I love reading them.

 🍂🍂🍁🍁🍁🍂🍂

God bless you all.

Your blogging sister,

Connie :)

  1. Your living room is so inviting! It is still in the 80s in NW GA. But so dry most of the flowers have given up! Glad you won't need surgery! A blessing for sure!

    1. Thank you, I am so glad I don't need surgery either ☺️ I already had family and dear friends ready to take shifts to be with me until I recuperated from the surgery. I am truly blessed!

    1. Thanks, I love the little blue chicken she looks perfect sitting in my kitchen window.
I am overly ecstatic that I don't need surgery. I wasn't afraid of the surgery but I hated the fact that so many people had to take turns and care for me. I shouldn't be that way. The Lord has been working on me. I love helping others but I hate asking for help for myself. I guess it's a form of pride and I know that pride is not good. I need to learn that giving is fine but taking love and care from others is also fine.I am truly blessed.

  4. I'm impressed with your carrots. When I grew some they were scrawny little things! We've had a couple of light frosts. Love the little blue chicken. I have a friend who collects those chickens. Glad to hear you won't need surgery!!!

    1. Praise the Lord, I am so happy that I won't need surgery. I have a list of things to change in my lifestyle adding electrolytes, stretching exercises, calf compressions and walking. I always think of you and your daily walks. Walking is so good in so very many ways.

    1. Thanks, me too. We're having a problem at the moment because she puts her front half in my lap every night for petting and ear scratches, but my knee is so sore that I can't handle her weight on my knee. Poor, girl, I know that she's feeling hurt and unloved when I don't let her up.

    1. Thank you on both subjects. I feel so relieved. The ER did x-rays and a sonogram and then when I got in to see the orthopedic surgeon they did x-rays again. They found major arthritis and bone spurs. But no surgery hallelujah! I had two days where I could barely walk. I couldn't put weight on my right leg.

  8. Your new rug is beautiful Connie, as is that blue chicken. I am thinking perhaps you might spot clean the rug, rather than try washing it. I think it would be so heavy too!! Love your vases of flowers - I am enjoying picking some stems here too as we are in spring. Have a lovely week Connie xx

  10. Your living room looks so beautiful with the new rug. What a cozy place. And the blue chicken is the prettiest thing! What a kind friend. We've had frost on the roofs, but little on the ground. I keep waiting for the flowers to fall over, but so far they are holding their own. Like you, I pick the bouquets for as long as possible.

    1. I know from daffodils and tulips in the spring to the last roses and chrysanthemums of fall. I love fresh home picked bouquets. I was raised in Indiana and we had lots of wildflowers. Now living in a desert area, I miss that.

    1. Jenny it was scary, I had two days where I could barely walk, more like a scooting, my right leg wouldn't hold my body weight and I had know idea what was happening. Anyway all is well now,
Praise God! I've got to learn how to take better care of this body, it's not as young as it used to be, LOL

  13. Oh my Connie, so good to hear that you are ok and in no need of surgery. I do enjoy picking fresh flowers for inside too and know it won't be long before we see a frost too. That hen is too cute, goes great with your room too. That rug is gorgeous, hopefully you won't have to wash it too often.

    1. Why it the garden so much fun planting in the spring, but not much fun at all pulling up in the fall? The best part about fall is seed saving ☺️

  15. Hi Connie... I didn't know you had hurt your knee so bad! Did I miss when you talked about it? I know you said you did fall, but I definitely missed how bad it was! I'm glad you are getting better and no need for surgery! I hurt my right knee in a fall about 4 years ago, and it still acts up now and then.. sometimes gets really bad, but gradually seems to heal again after using ice, heat and keeping it raised alot. I finally did got to P.T. and he gave me some exercises that really help! Looks like you are STILL working around your play and probably way too much!!! :-) Your flowers are beautiful and your garden looks so nice and neat and tidy. Love your new rug.. I can't imagine trying to lug that somewhere to wash! I have a sleeping bag I want to wash at a laundromat, and I dread even doing that! it sure is a pretty color. I love your living room.. it is so cozy and warm and inviting.......... I hope you are feeling totally better since you were sick and not feeling well. Time goes by so fast.... way too fast.. and now the summer is mostly gone, though we are still having pretty nice weather and I can't believe it's almost November! Sure not ready for it, though I do love the orange and yellow colors and Fall days. You take care of yourself, and carry your phone with you when you're outside working! We never know when the ground will come up to meet our face! Hugs... Marilyn

    1. I totally agree, keep that phone in your pocket. Wearing an apron is a way that I've found to be helpful. Two pockets, one for the phone and one for dog treats 🥰 Thanks for visiting - - - I still can't figure out why blogger is sending your comments as anonymous. Thanks for signing them with your name.

  16. We haven't had our first frost yet here in northeast IL, but it will be soon. We've had an overly-warm October, so far. Love your new living room rug and it looks like Beulah does, too! What happened that you ended up in the ER - did you fall? Whatever happened, I'm glad that you don't need surgery. Big hugs to you!

    1. Thank you Melanie, I'm very grateful too. It started with a fall, that wasn't too bad, but as time went on things got worst. The fall was a month before the ER. Long story, I'm just very pleased to have a happier ending then I anticipated.

  20. Oh, so sad to see your flowers go, but you certainly enjoyed them while they lasted. We haven't had any frost yet, but just the fact that it has been so dry there aren't many flowers left around except the usual fall wildflowers along the roads. I love your little blue hen on a nest. So pretty. And that rug is beautiful! I can't imagine trying to wash it in any size washing machine, but maybe it just won't get that dirty! It really is pretty. Oh, so sorry you needed to go to the ER, but glad it wasn't too serious. That's always scary. Praise God all is well. Happy rest of your October days. I can see you are a busy lady!!!

  21. Your new rug is beautiful but Beulah is sweeter. :-) Your new little chicken is so cute and perfect for your home.
How did you get your garden so beautifully cleaned up? I don't think I've ever seen a neater one. And I'm sorry about your ER visit. That isn't good at all and I' glad that you're okay.
Today I finally got my computer back from the computer hospital. I sure hope it works better than it did last time they took care of it. It has a new hard drive and now I'm trying get get everything reinstalled on in. I never enjoy that process.
    Blessings and hugs,
