Do you remember four posts
ago I teased you with a few photos
from a new project I'd started.
is pretty old
some of it over 20 or 25
years old and the cushions
are still functional but
just aren't pretty anymore.
I've been covering them for
many years now.
This is how they look
without covers.
This is my stack of
slip covers.
Plus a little footstool
that used to be in our
little motorhome
It's brown and has storage
inside, but now it's covered, too :)
Warm weather has been sneaking
into our part of the woods
on and off for the last few weeks.
Some days are warm and some days
are still cold,
but I'm ready for enjoying
my front porch.
a set of old sheets.
The bottom one was pretty worn
but the top one was still nice
so I used it
(the white with the little rose buds)
and added some big flower fabric
that I got at Walmart
plus a few whimsical panel pieces
that I bought at a local fabric store
a couple weeks ago.
The panel had 6 adorable squares
I used 3 of them on the porch :)
.I was with my sister-in-law
and she said,
"that fabric is you, Connie".
So after thinking about it
I decided she was right and bought it.
It turned out to be the finishing
touch that I needed for this project.
These are thrifting finds,
that I found just this week.
and makes me think I need
to have some friends over for
a tea party
or
at least lemonade and cookies.
to do this time of year
but I'm learning that I have to stop,
take breaks and enjoy
the simple pleasures in life.
on the front porch is going
to bring me a lot of pleasure
this year and I made them all
like pillow cases
so I can take them off
and throw them in the washing machine
when I need to.
I wish I could have
each and every one of you
over to just sit and relax.
Put your feet up,
drink a cool drink
and
have sweet conversation.
π·π±π·π±π·π±π·
God bless you all
and
Happy Spring!
π·π±π·π±π·π±π·Your blogging sister,
Connie :)

Oh Connie, you are so creative! I think this is absolutely the cutest, and it really is you. You're going to really enjoy taking some rest breaks on your newly decorated porch. I wish I lived closer, I'd love some lemonade out there with you.
ReplyDeleteMari, it would be wonderful having you come visit. I think we have a lot in common. Have a blessed weekend.
DeleteConnie, I absolutely adore you porch decor. It does look girly and it's PERFECT for you. How I wish we were still in Spokane and I could drive over for a days visit. You could teach me how to make such beautiful things too. My heart is always brightened after a visit to your blog my sweet friend. Wishing you a beautiful week and warm weather.
ReplyDeleteBlessing and love,
Betsy
Betsy you are so sweet. If you lived closer I would be asking you to teach me how to crochet or even how to knit socks. I know how to knit but I have never tried knitting socks and the socks you make look amazing to me I know they're so warm.
DeleteYour lovely pillow covers have totally transformed your porch. It looks so welcoming with the floral patterns ( which would have been my choices too). I wish you many happy hours sitting out there relaxing with Beulah keeping you company ππ.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. Beulah has become a shadow to me she wants to be right beside me no matter where I'm at. She is so much company.
DeleteConnie, what a transformation! Your porch photo looks like the cover of Country Living magazine. It makes me want to rush out and redo all my garden furniture!
ReplyDeleteYou are so sweet and what an encouraging thing to say. I'm glad that I can inspire you, by making these like pillow cases it was quite an easy task and fun too π·
DeleteYour porch is so pretty. I love the covers you made. It looks so inviting, I think I could spend all day sitting there.
ReplyDeleteCome on over sweetie pie you're welcome anytime π·π₯°π·
DeleteI would LOVE to come and sit with you for lemonade or coffee or just chit chat! You did a fantastic job on the pillows. They are beautiful and really liven the porch up. It's right up my alley with the florals! I have the pillow cases that match the top sheet that you used. lol. They are old but I still love them. Love your sweet Beulah. I think she is a lot like my Coco and is a velcro dog. We need each other. Have a wonderful weekend- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteGood morning Diana and thank you for stopping by. It's always a pleasure to read your comments. What would we do without our puppy dogs. Beulah is so much company and she keeps me on my toes ☺️πΆ
DeleteWhat a sweet porch! Make mine chilled white wine and I will be right over! This is vintage-y charming and perfect.
ReplyDeleteThank you Gina, thank you ☺️
DeleteOh my Connie it looks fabulous, and I am so glad your sister in law talked you into getting that fabric. I love that you can take them off and wash them whenever needed, because I would be too afraid to sit on them and worry I would get them dirty :) Such a beautiful cozy porch to enjoy all summer long! Good to hear you are taking your time and and enjoying all around you!
ReplyDeleteThank you. I used to get up in the summer and go outside and work all day long not taking a break sometimes not even stopping to drink a glass of water, but now I'm learning that every couple of hours I need to just stop get a cool drink, sit down, put my feet up and rest and then go back to work. I'm not as young as I used to be and I certainly don't need to overdo it. I used to be the hare and now I'm the wise tortoise π₯° π’
DeleteYou've done a wo derful job of your porch makeover. Yes please, put my name down for an invitation for a cuppa, and a lovely visit with you.

DeleteConnie...I would love sitting on your "Girly" porch. I can just see us sitting there sipping hot tea and having a nice big scone...chatting about the beauty of what you have done. You are so talented and have such a great feel for colors. Absolutley Beautiful...
ReplyDeleteThank you . . . I know it would not be right for everyone, but I'm enjoying it. Thank you for your sweet words of kindness :)
DeleteHow bright and cheery looking !
ReplyDeleteYour porch looks so welcoming and cozy, well done .
Jo
Thank you Jo, it certainly puts a smile on my face ☺️
DeleteI love, love, love the porch, what a wonderful place to just sit and let the day awaken or in the evening to see the sun set and let the day just drift away.
ReplyDeleteThank you Nonie, I appreciate your enthusiasm and encouraging comment.
DeleteConnie, your porch redo is just lovely! πΈ The slipcovers make everything look fresh and welcoming, and I like how you used old sheets and thrifted fabrics to give new life to your furniture. It feels cozy, cheerful, and perfect for spring afternoons with lemonade or tea. Such a sweet and creative transformation!
ReplyDeleteYou're so sweet, thank you π₯°
DeleteYour porch is all ready for spring. I really like the rose fabric you used for those slip coverings. It will be nice to just sit out there this summer and have a cold glass of lemonade. Happy spring!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your sweet comment and for taking the time to leave it . . . I know know busy life is but i really do enjoying reading the comments on my blog. It's an encouragement to keep moving forward π·πΈπ·
DeleteConnie, you said, “I wish I could have each and every one of you over to just sit and relax. Put your feet up, drink a cool drink and have sweet conversation.” Now that just sounds like perfection to me. π I love all the ways you make the crafty home cottage look so homey and welcoming. You really do have a special ability to turn your creative ideas into real charm. For the last several months, I’ve been sort of in and out on social media/blogging. I took a long break thinking it might be time to close down my “Johns Island” … 15 or so years might just be enough. But it is hard to give up a hobby that provides joy and connection with a few delightful other members of our species. π I just want to say how much I’ve appreciated you over the years in this blog relationship. Thank you for your recent kind comments on my blog. I’m sending you a hug and wishes for joy and peace. Take good care and be well. Your Western Washington friend, John.
ReplyDeleteHi John, your blog is so unique with so much history that I would hate to see you stop blogging. I think you have a passion for sharing that history. I've learned things about Seattle that I would never have known without your blog and about Yellowstone, too. I'm here to encourage you to not shut your blog down, but maybe just slow it down a bit. That's what I've done. I used to blog at least twice a week, now I do well to put out a post two or three times a month. There's a camaraderie between bloggers that others just don't understand. We develop friendships with people that we'll probably never meet face to face but there is a closeness there just the same.
DeleteShare what you love and only do it as often as what is comfortable for you. Let it get back to being fun. I for one (and I know many more) would hate to see you shut down.
OOOHH, I love your beautiful re-do of your porch! The covers are so pretty and I for one would love to sit out on your porch with you, and enjoy some sweet conversation! Thrifting finds are wonderful, glad it is that time of year again! Blessings to you!
ReplyDeleteThank you Marilyn, it's always nice to hear from you. I've always thought the garden parties you have in your outside Oasis are lovely, whimsical and just look like so much fun. I think we both truly enjoy the warm sunshine that comes with spring and summer. Have a lovely week and God bless you.
DeleteFollowing your sweet note to Diana---who wouldn't want to travel with that Dearie! Just so happy with all your florals and that impeccable work on all the sayings and those PINK SKATES!!! Ah, my heart. I'm joining your site to come back and enjoy all your arts and crafts---I have not the skills for either, and SO admire the work of others' hands to needle and brush. Pray tell, is THAT a RAILROAD in the distance above that delightful teapot? All that beauty on the porch, the soft Summer rain, and a TRAIN singing by every day? My Mammaw always called that delightful abundance of blessings "Too much sugar for a dime." rachel at LAWN TEA
ReplyDeleteNo railroad, just a fence and a lovely hayfield across the road. I don't watch trains but I do enjoy watching the farmer cut and bail the hay. Oh, and it smells so good when it's cut. π₯°
DeleteThank you so much for following my blog, I haven't had a new follower in ages and I do enjoy reading comments π₯°
So ...what's Connie up to today ? Aha ..there she is ! Making lovely cheerful cushion covers ! Beautiful . Hope you're keeping well π hugs Debbie x
ReplyDeleteOh, Connie is always up to something. Actually today was pulling weeds and spreading mulch. My nails were so dirty . . . Spring weather means nail brush by the sink, LOL.
DeleteAll of your sewing is very pretty and I love the dog!
ReplyDeleteThank you . . . I love her, too ♥️♥️♥️
DeleteHi Connie.....just popped in to see if you'd made another post and low and behold! I get to see the most adorable and beautiful PINK AND GREEN cushions! My two most favorite colors! They are just up my alley too...I love girly things and does your porch ever look inviting! Oh I hope I can make the drive there this summer!! I MUST sit on that porch and take in your beautiful soul and all of your hard work on the "farm".!!!! Great idea too to make them washable. I am like you....I may buy a few darling fabric panels with no idea of what I'm going to do with them! But they catch my eye and call to me, so I have no choice but to invite them into my home for a future project! Many are still sitting in my fabric cabinet! I used flowered sheets years ago, to "wallpaper the walls in a new little bedroom my husband had added on to our little cabin in Washougal, just a month before the birth of my first son. I then put some of that leftover sheet fabric into the strip quilt I made for my son when he turned 40! You always inspire me! I too wish all of your blog followers and friends could meet up for a big tea party!! Hugs to you! Marilyn
ReplyDeleteA big blogging sister tea party, wouldn't that be a hoot π₯°. We need to talk and make plans for you to visit. I would love to have you, and you could stay in my little barn, so you would have your own bathroom and privacy when we are not finding fun things to do and chat about.
DeleteSounds good Connie! Hugs.. Marilyn
DeleteVery nice! I love it!
ReplyDeleteThank You!!! π·❤️π·
DeleteTHIS PORCH LOOKS SO FUN!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I think is going to be so nice this summer . . . we had a few days warm enough to sit out there but gardening is taking up all my time. Once everything is planted I'll be enjoying the porch ππΈπ
DeleteHi Connie, first of all, thank you for your visit to my blog. I loved seeing the transformation on your porch! Oh how cheery and fun it is with your beautiful fabric that you used. Yes, I’d love to sit there and have a tea party or lemonade. Great job!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by and for your lovely and encouraging comment :)
Deletevery girly and very beautiful...what a great update. it's amazing what can be done with old sheets or some purchased fabric. i need to get my deck area ready for summer, i lack the energy!!
ReplyDeleteI started sewing those in February. I was so ready for spring and still am. I wish our weather would warm up.
DeleteOh wow! What a great transformation. Love that super, pretty fabric combo - and it looks like your doggo approves too :o)
ReplyDeleteYes she does! Beulah loves to sit out on the porch with me, in fact she's my shadow she follows me everywhere.
DeleteBeautiful blog
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteConnie, your redo project looks lovely and so spring-like. I also like the repurposed older furniture. Yu will most likely smile every time you sit outside this spring and summer and so will others. Thanks too for your comment on my recent blog post, it was much appreciated.
ReplyDeleteForgot to mention that we will be in your part of the country this coming October, cruising on the Snake and Columbia Rivers on an American Cruise Lines trip. We just went on the lower Mississippi River and enjoyed it so much we signed up for another cruise!
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm sure that you will enjoy your cruise, these rivers are so much different than the Mississippi. My husband went on a fishing adventure on the Snake River and had a blast. Not only did he catch a huge bass but he saw mountain goat, elk, deer and bear along the shore :)
DeleteWhat a lovely transformation! Genius idea to make your covers like pillowcases for ease in cleaning! Hope you enjoy many sweet summer moments on your pretty porch!
ReplyDeleteThank you. Every now and then a sweet little bird will fly onto the porch and leave a deposit, so making them easy to throw in the washing machine is a must, LOL.
DeleteThank you Cheryl and thanks for stopping by and visiting my humble blog.
ReplyDeleteOh my! That's the cutest thing I've ever seen! I love that fabric and have a bit of stitch envy here. (I do not sew!) Your porch looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much . . . It was fun making the covers so girly this year :)
DeleteHi Connie! Oh, everything you've done is just so charming and welcoming! We're in Michigan and it has been warm and things are sprouting but expecting freeze overnight so haven't planted anything outside yet but can't wait! Have a wonderful colorful spring!
