Robin Nest & Chandelier

Look what I discovered.
I couldn't see in the nest
because I'm a shorty,
but I held my phone up
over my head and
took this photo.

Do you see the nest,

this robin built it on top of

the birdhouse.

I guess she wanted a penthouse :)

This  chandelier is one I made for the
back porch of our old house.

I glued tea cups and saucers
and
then had battery tea lights inside.

This is what it looked like
when I bought it at
a thrift store for $10

After removing what I didn't want . . .

I painted it white.

It's been out in
the shed for years now
some of the tea cups had broken
so I decided to make it over
for my front porch.

I purchased these at
the Dollar Tree.

and this strand of
solar fairy lights
on Amazon.

I just used one strand.

I wrapped the lights around
each (whatever you call them)
on the chandelier
and down the center pole.

When my little flower pots
where all stuffed
and hot glued
I added them to the
fixture.

Here's the best
night photo that
I could get with my phone.

I hope that this inspires
at lease one of you
to try repurposing
something.

It's so much fun!

☔☔⛅☔☔

God bless you all.
Your blogging sister,
Connie :)

    1. Thanks Ann. I hope it's not overkill on my porch, but it does tie in with my girly theme. 🌸

Too funny to see the nest on top of the bird house.

    1. I know. Yesterday we had a very rainy and windy day and I would think that that bird would have rather been inside the birdhouse but when I went out to take the photo she was sitting in the nest sitting on her eggs. She flew off long enough for me to take the photo and then back she came.

  3. I love this idea!! I loved the tea cup one, but I can understand how they get broken. This is really cute with the flower pots and little flowers and fairy lights! So creative!! I did something similar with an old chandelier and some solar lights back at our old house for the pergola we built in the Memorial Garden. Fun ideas!!

    1. Liz thanks for stopping by. I was so surprised and delighted when I brought my phone back down and saw the picture of the eggs. I just can't see them from standing on the ground. It will be kind of fun now to watch the nest from a distance I don't want to bother the mama to see when the eggs hatch. I did take a shallow pan out near the nest and filled with water, thinking she might like a bird bath nearby ☺️

  7. Sweet robins eggs. That nest is in the perfect spot isn't it? And that chandelier is perfection. You have such a wonderful imagination. I would never have thought of doing that. Your house is magical to me. I always look forward to your posts and the new surprises you have for us.

  8. Don't you just love the color of Robins eggs? We had a nest right next to our porch and it started to fall apart. I cut a Cool Whip tub just to fit around the outside of it to secure it. Worked! Your chandie turned out so cute! I may have to try something with those lights. Never used solar ones! Thanks.

    1. There are so many ways to use solar lights these days. I really like them because you don't have to have a power source therefore you can put them anywhere. Also you don't have to watch for electric cords or worry about getting shocked or tripping.

  13. The chandelier is perfect for your porch💗. I like the set-up you made for your glue gun. What a great idea!!
Interesting that mama Robin chose to build her nest ON the birdhouse!! Those 3 eggs are simply precious.

    1. My glue gun holder and storage box was made by my next door neighbor he made one for his wife and then he made one for me. That's been several years ago but it is so handy the way he did it. I am fortunate to have wonderful neighbors not just because they make me things but because they're just sweethearts. We watch each other's homes when we go away for anything and in time of need we get together and pray together. I could not ask for better neighbors. And as far as the bird building her nest on top of the birdhouse I just had to chuckle. 🐣🐦

    1. Thank you so much, I like to share because I love seeing other people's creative ideas as well. Sometimes we have something in our homes already that we could tweak instead of going out and buying new. I like things that are unusual and not what every other people has in their homes. Adding a little whimsy by repurposing an old item is always a fun thing to do 🥰

  15. Robins are so funny where they build their nests! We had a mama robin build her nest in a hanging pot of flowers right by our front door. Of course, she would get mad at us when we went in and out of the house, but we had no choice. It was so cool to watch the babies hatch and then grow up, but wow, were they messy! (Bird poop all over our porch.) Your repurposed chandelier is so pretty. I love how you put the fairy lights all around it.

    1. Melanie, I truly love it when I see your profile photo in my comments. I know you haven't been posting for sometime now, but I'm delight that you still visit. Robins can be very messy, I discourage them from building nests on my front porch even though they try. I have an owl up in one corner and a picture of two big scary eyes taped up in another. I tried rubber snakes but they seem to know they're not real. I just really don't want poop on my porch. So it was really nice to find this Robin's nest where I can watch her hatch her babies and be far away from the house 😊 it's a win-win.

  16. Hi Connie, Oh I love that chandelier! Makes me want one on my porch too! I don't sit out there very much for some reason (on my porch). Maybe because it doesn't feel cozy and homey like yours does! The little lights all over it are so pretty. Love that night picture! the ceiling of my porch is one of those corrugated plastic ones. It's white so lets the light in, which is nice, but only has plastic "beams". Sure would be nice to sit out there at night with that chandy's pretty lights. Love the little pots and plants too. How funny to see that bird's nest on top of the birdhouse! Guess mama bird got claustrophobic inside. Those robin's blue eggs remind me of an old old movie, with I think Cary Grant and a well known actress (can't remember her name now)... but they were building a house, and she was getting paint for the inside, and was trying to describe to her husband what color she wanted. It was blue of course, but not any blue would do.. .it had to be "robin's egg blue" and I've always thought of that movie when I see gorgeous robin's egg blue eggs like the ones in the nest! Funny how some things have such an impact on us! This time of year has so many surprises for us doesn't it??? Your many fun projects always make me simle! Hugs to you! Marilyn

    1. Thank you Marilyn, I'm glad that I could make you smile with this bit of whimsy. I need to learn when to stop and not overdone the decor out there. Nothing more now except allowing the flowers around the porch to grow🥰 Oh, and putting my flag back out for summer , I took it down last fall when it got terribly windy.

  17. What a beautiful blue color on those robin eggs and certainly that is a penthouse nest. years ago we had barn swallows build a nest on our front porch when we lived in VA. We couldn't see the eggs or the next, but they did leave a lot of droppings on the porch. After the birds hatched and left, my husband put up wiring to discourage future nesters. That old chandelier was a great jor of repurposing. I have done a few projects, but nothing on so large a scale. It looks perfect on your front porch especially with the fairy lights added.

    1. Thank you. I was going to hang it over my glider on a hook that is meant for a porch swing, but we had a very strong wind the other night and I thought it should hang somewhere where the wind couldn't blow it against a window.. They're too pricey to replace.

  18. How wonderfully creative you are, Connie. Those robin eggs look fake they are so blue!

    1. Believe me they're not fake. Mrs Robin is sitting on them everyday and when I go out there to look, she flies away but keeps her eye on me. I think if I got too close to those eggs, I might get buzz bombed. Thank you for your compliment on my creativity, that was sweet to read. ♥️
