Spring Walk Through The Garden

Spring is in the air
and planting time has begun.

Normally I don't start planting
until the second week in May
and sometimes not until
the middle of the month,

but our forecast says
no more frost so I'm
starting early.

Hopefully by Monday
I'll have my garden
completely planted.

The rhubarb and spring flowers
are strutting their stuff.
Pie anyone?

I just love this
time of the year!

🌷🌸🌹🌱🌹🌸🌷

This is where I'll be
spending my time
this week until I've got
all my plants and seeds
safely in the ground.

That is if the critters
don't get to them . . .
birds, squirrels, and those
terrible little things
that eat them off
at the stem during the night.

🌷🌸🌹🌱🌹🌸🌷

Here's to all my gardening
friends . . .
Happy gardening, enjoy the process.

We plant the seeds,
but God causes the growth.
I know that verse pertains to
sharing the gospel . . .
but it kind of fit in
the garden, too 😇

God bless you all,
Your blogging sister,
Connie :)

  1. Hi Connie! First, thanks for coming by Marmelade Gypsy. I'm so glad your visit brought me here! The garden is fantastic. Gardening is not in my skill set and I admire the work that goes into it and the beauty it produces. Here in Michigan, I don't dare start till mid-May. It's only in the 40s, max 50s these days and the night temps are pretty low (though I will put in some lettuce today.) That bike is the cutest thing ever!

    1. Thank you . . . I've had that bike painted two different shaded for blue and then the last few years it's been white. I almost repainted it again this year, but ran out of energy . . . too much garden prep :)

  2. Your garden looks lovely, Connie, and always nice to see someone's as we no longer do any planting since we are now apartment dwellers. Thanks for your comment about your husband's fishing trip on the Snake River. We are really looking forward to our river cruise in the Pacific Northwest next fall. I will add your blog title to my sidebar so I will not forget to visit here.

    1. I just know that you will have a lovely time on your cruise, it's a beautiful but more rugged area than your cruise on the old Mississippi River. I'll be looking forward to your photos :)

  5. Connie- It's wonderful that you have a nice start on gardening. We woke up to snow on the ground and 30˚ temperatures. Awful! I can't wait for warm days to garden!!! AND to paint my bike white to showcase some flowers. Happy May Day- xo Diana

  7. Everything seems to be thriving in your greenhouse and your rhubarb is so big!! I got a few stalks from mine this week and made stewed rhubarb much to the delight of son#2. Spring is early here too this year. I'm loving it.

  8. Hi Connie! Gardening is happening here, too. I'm still cautious about putting my plants outside as we could still get some frost. However, my tomatoes are flourishing in the greenhouse. I cover them with a light cloth at night. And you are so right that we plant the seeds, but it is God's design how they grow. It always seems so miraculous to me to get beautiful ripe tomatoes from those little tiny seeds I put into the ground. Happy May days to you!

    1. I agree especially about tomatoes. I plant mine from seed and they come up like a little blade of grass and by August they are taller than me and bearing wonderful juicy tomatoes. 🍅

    1. Oh we couldn't get along without those bees. I plant a lot of flowers in among my vegetables just to draw the bees in. Those tiny little animals are hard workers not only pollinating but making honey. They are amazing creatures.🐝🐝🐝

  10. Your garden is looking beautiful already Connie. Yes Spring is my favorite season too. I was telling a friend all about your lovely porch that you'd refreshed the other day & how I wished I could sit on it & share a cuppa. I think she thought I was a little bit bonkers to be honest 😉 Have a lovely weekend Connie. xx

Not only that but there's a lot of love that has come to me through my blogging sisters. When they found out that my husband had cancer I had people all over the world praying for him and when I told him about it he just beamed and was so grateful. It touched his heart in a mighty way. 🥰

We had to cover our little vegetable garden again because of a frost warning. Really shouldn't plant anything till the end of the month but just couldn't wait any longer

  14. Such a beautiful post, Connie! I love that white lilac bush! I'm not sure if I've ever seen one before! And I love your bicycle with the flowers in the baskets. So beautiful! Were those peonies I saw? I love peonies, but they don't grow here. Neither do lilacs. I do hope you get a magnificent crop of vegetable and all things lovely this year. Praying for the weather to cooperate as well. Yes, God does care about our gardens as well as our souls!!

  18. Oh Connie, thank you for the walk through of your wonderful garden, the rhubarb is huge! As you know I am no spend this year so I am going to try my luck with seeds. I usually drop a bundle at the garden center but not this year. Now, I might not get much as I am new at this but I will have fun trying. My son started some seeds for acorn squash that I had saved from a squash that was given to me last year, so we will see how that goes.

    1. Growing squash from seed is so much fun, after they germinate they grow very first, much more fun to watch grow than those very slow plants like peppers :) 🥭🫑🥕🫛🍅🥒 Happy Gardening!

  19. Your garden looks like it's going to be really beautiful.
I don't have a garden--just a balcony, and I haven't been able to put anything that I've planted in pots (wildflowers and tomatoes) out yet because it's been unseasonably cold and we're still getting frost at night.

    1. Here's hoping your weather warms up soon and that your balcony is filled with lovely tomatoes and flowers. I hope we get to see a photo of them on your blog. God bless you sweet blogging sister:)

  22. happy gardening to you as well. we, oops, i mean the hubs...is still preparing the gardens to get them ready for planting. i have not started any seeds indoors, this is the first time i have not done it. i think i am just going to purchase plants at the garden center. this spring, the deer ate at least half of my tulips, about 200. everytime they came to dine, they activated my ring camera...it was usually around midnight. i enjoyed all of your images!!

    1. There are so many pests in the garden and some are so tiny and other are sneaky and only come out at night. This year I've been trying to do a lot of companion planting hoping it will keep down on the pests. I don't spray pesticide on my garden. After all I want to eat this stuff 😁

  25. Oh Connie I love the walk through your yard! That white lilac bush is AWESOME! Wow! And I love all the reddish colored bark you've spread around.. makes it all look so new and shiny! I have to net all my stuff that I plant outside (seeds that pop up) as if I don't, the birds get them, or critters or my cats dig there because it's fresh dirt and a new potty spot for them! They do the most damge to new young shoots coming up. I usually don't preplant things here as it's pretty mild.. just put the seeds right into the ground. Haven't done that yet this year.. I'm behind that's for sure. I'm just going to buy a few plants from the local nursery here that are already a few inches tall.. I do need some more strawberry plants, and going to plant some spuds. I'm just so much in the mood for it all this year, even though we've already had some pretty warm weather. I love your bicycle too! Just darling! You amaze me with all that you do! Hugs... Marilyn

    1. My little pansies reseed themselves. They come up so thick in an old washtub the I've planted them in years ago that I have to thin them out to keep them from being too crowded to grow. They're such pretty little flowers ♥️🌺🌸🌼
