Getting Out Before The Snow Falls

I started out my morning with a walk in the neighborhood.

This lovely lady lives in the front yard of a neighbor,
they had the yellow ribbon out for Halloween :)
 Here's a close up.

I love the bright colors in this Tamarack tree.
It is beautiful against the blue sky.

Then Steve called and said that he needed to drive up to the state park
to make  a bid on a job,
and would I like to ride along.
Of course I would . . .
so I grabbed my camera and away we went.

This is what the sagebrush looks like when it goes to seed.

This is from a hill above the park.

Look closely at this photo . . .
in the circle you will see a little red train caboose.
How it got there I do not know, but when I was going to college
there was a young man in one of my classes that lived there.
He told me that he and his wife turned the little skylight room into
their toddler daughter's bedroom.
What a view!

Winter is coming, so I plan on getting outside
as much as possible and enjoying the crisp fall weather.
I wish that I could invite you all to walk with me :)

Keep Smiling.

Your blogging sister,
Connie :)

    1. Hi Shirley, no not the Southwest but the Northwest. Most people do not realize that we have our desserts, way up north too :)

    1. Hi Ann, you know, you have me there . . . I'm going to go over and take a closer look. I think that they are similar to a pine-cone, but you've got my curiosity up. I'll let you know what I find when I walk back that way again :)

  10. Really neat pictures, felt like I took a walk and a ride right there with you. That tamarack tree is beautiful, now what is that, that the tamarack is growing on it's branches??? Pine cones or some kind of nut...never seen something like that.

I love your humor...when the lady commented (in french, I think) You gave me a chuckle with your comment back to her. Sweet!!!

I would love to know other languages, but the truth is I have enough problems with English, LOL.

  11. Love your photos today, Connie! You live in such a beautiful area. The Tamarack tree against that blue, blue sky is gorgeous and the canyon - Wow! The sage brush is so pretty with the seed heads and I'll bet it scents the whole countryside . How lovely it would be to live in that little red caboose and gaze at that scenery every day. xo Hugs Karen

    1. Hi Karen, I have always thought living in that caboose would be fun . . . a bit cramped . . . maybe better for a weekend get-a-way, right.
The truth is that sagebrush has a much more profound smell in the spring and early summer when it is green. I agree, it is a beautiful view :)

  12. Evening Connie, I hope you get to enjoy many more walks before cold weather hits! The lady and her bicycle is sooo sweet! The story of the Little Red Caboose needs to be a novel.......! Enjoy your week~~~Blessings~~~Roxie

    1. Hi Roxie, I knew that you would like the bicycle lady . . . she's another sweetie pie, right. As for the caboose, I'm sorry to say that I don't even remember the young man's name. I wonder if he and his wife still own the caboose and live there, or maybe rent it out to vacationers :)

  13. Hi Connie. We've already had snow here in Northeast Oregon. Not a lot, and it has melted almost as soon as it fell. We are still enjoying our walks, though. As long as it's not windy, I don't mind walking when the temperature dips. Have a great week!

    1. Hi Nancy, yes my daughter lives in Northeast Oregon and she has said that you have already had some snow. When I was young I liked it much better, but the older I get the more I realize why so many people go to Arizona for the winter :) Old bones and cold weather don't like each other, LOL

  15. Hello Connie, over here inthe UK we have been promised snow this week - but only up in Scotland so far! Here in Norfolk we awoke to a heavy frost, but it is one of those crisp, sunny, blue-skied days which is very conducive to a brisk trot along woodland trails. Sadly, I shall be trotting around town as I have an appointment there, but nevertheless I will enjoy the clean air and sunshine. Love those photographs, Connie, and see, I have already had my morning stroll with you and all your lovely readers!! Lx

  18. I would love to go on a walk with you in your beautiful state park! As you might know from my blog, I have a state park right by my house, too. I love walking there. That is really interesting how there's a train caboose in the park. I wonder if you can find out how it got there? Also very interesting that someone used to live in it!

    1. Hi Melanie, I have wondered how they got it there, too. It has been there for as long as I remember. That state park is a 45 minute drive from your house, or I would be walking it all the time. It is beautiful isn't it? My daughter and I use to have a little tradition of going up there is September after the summer vacationers had left the park. We would pack a watermelon, rent a paddle boat and go swimming. The park was always so empty, it was like we had it all to ourselves :)

    1. Hi Patricia, I think that we always find beauty in other peoples areas. You know the old saying, "The grass is greener on the other side of the fence". I know that I tend to do just that . . . blogging has helped me to see more clearly; when I grab my camera I really look and appreciate my surroundings more. Other wise all I see is old dried up sagebrush :)
