Shabby Chic Banner

Look at what is hanging in my barn rafters.

The other day our poor old bed sheets ripped
 and had to be replaced.
This was the second rip, the first time I mended them.
That's what you do when you believe in
Repurpose-Reuse-Recycle-Refinish-Restore.
In this case it finally got to the point to Replace.
So, I purchase new sheets and threw the old ones in the bedroom wastebasket.
Then the next day I took them back out and washed them.
What was I thinking!
I have seen so many gorgeous shabby chic items that I loved,
that were made from old torn white fabric.

I had gold here and I almost threw it out.
That's like throwing out the baby with the bathwater.

Now the rafters of my Art Barn
are adorned with these pretty torn up old sheets.
And I love them :)

The hearts that I added to the banner
were some that I had stored in a shoe box.
They were unsold and left from a craft sale that I did a couple years ago.

Well, that's what I have been up to . . .
What are you doing today?

Have a wonderful day.
Smile, Laugh and have a little Fun.

Your blogging sister,
Connie :)

    1. Hi Cindy, I know, I almost threw that old sheet away, LOL. I'm very glad that I had second thoughts about it. I had seen a banner like this, this summer at a craft fair and another made with long scraps of lace.

  5. Evening Connie, What a SWEET idea!! I love those types of fabric banners and I think you adding the hearts was too cute! I saw one the other day at Over the Moon and it was a mix of fabric (cottons, burlaps and lace)....and quite long! It was $75...! I think one could re-cycle, up-cycle, and re-use almost anything if we really think about it...Great idea!! Thanks for the lovely comment about the feminine meets masculine....I loved it!! Happy Thanksgiving...I hope your day is wonderful and blessed! Roxie

    1. Hi Sandy, I wish that I could pick, but I injured my right hand five years ago (right after I bought my Gibson) I didn't let it stop me, but I'll always be a strummer.
It was good that I invested in a good guitar, or I might have just stopped playing, and that would have been a same. I have met so many wonderful musicians and have had so much fun playing in our little geezer band. Thanks for the visit and for your sweet words :)

    1. Hi Lynn, I had those hearts leftover from an art booth, a couple of years ago. They came in handy and gave my banner a little touch of romance :)

  15. Oooh, I love that banner and those hearts. This would be fun for a swap. Have a fun week-end. I hope your husband has time to make the nativity.
That one by my garage is very tall. I was shocked it fit in my little bug. I have never seen one like this one either. I have it behind a wooden box so it won't blow over. You are so sweet visiting and leaving comments.

    1. Good Morning Debby, your outside Christmas decorations are adorable and I just hope that ours turns out half as nice. Steve has them all cut, I am painting them this week. We're running behind schedule . . . but like the little tortoise we are heading for the finish line :)

    1. I'm just happy I didn't throw that old sheet away. Old sheets tear so easily and leave those raggy edges . . . must nicer for this application than new fabric :)
