I am enjoying our new windows so much that I had to go
out into the shop and look for wood to build this little shelf.
The antique bottles are from my sweet friend Shirley,
and they needed showing off, right:)
and they needed showing off, right:)
It was a rainy day . . .
something that we have really been needing . . .
everything looks so green and pretty when it rains:)
I spent some time tweaking the bedroom . . .
and admiring the crystal clear view out our new windows.
We worked on them a little bit everyday
and eight days later they were all installed
and ready for winter:)
and went out to Steve's shop and found this old rake head.
I spray painted it white . . .
and hung my necklaces from it.
Rainy days are good for dusting and tweaking.
For rearranging . . .
and playing around.
This wasn't much of a post,
but I'm happy that you stopped by.
I always enjoy company.
Have a great day . . .
"Rain or Shine"
Your blogging sister,
Connie :)
I thought this was a GREAT post- It is about everyday life and how people really live. They make shelves and put pretty bottles on them. They admire their new windows and are glad it rained. They dust and rearrange their pretty hats. I'd say this was a PERFECT post, Connie. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteThank you, Diana . . . you are a sweetie pie:)
DeleteOh my goodness...."nothing much of a post"!! Are you kidding!! This post is filled to the rafters with pretty delight after pretty delight. Loving your li'l home....'tis beautiful. It might be raining outside but inside the sun is shining and spreading it's warmth to every corner of your li'l abode. Love your new windows; and how gorgeous are the pretty blue bottles. What a brilliant idea using the rake head to hang your jewels!! Love, love, LURVE this post, Connie!!
ReplyDeleteDear Sweet Kim, you have made my evening . . . what a kind and lovely way to end my day, thank you for your sweet and encouraging words.
DeleteRainy days are just what you need sometimes... they are perfect for tweaking indoors!
ReplyDeleteI haven't had the energy for any of that... but hopefully soon, I'll be feeling well enough to get some things done around here.
I've got more clearing out to do... and make this place just dreamy enough to be the next Home Sweet Home for a loving family! :)
I love your rake with necklaces. And your red gingham curtains! so cute.
Hi Patricia, thank you so much . . . it was nice to have a rainy day. if the sun have been out I would have been outside caulking windows:)
DeleteLovely home. We are hoping for some rain next week.
ReplyDeleteHi Billie, we had a completely dry summer. It was getting scarey, so the rains that we are having now are a very welcome sight, not just for staying inside, but "boy" did our area need a good drink:)
DeleteGorgeous....that is what is wrong with my house...no rainy days to spend indoors!! Xx
ReplyDeleteHi Bron, should I be wishing you a rainy day?
DeleteI loved this post. Your tweaking turned out beautifully. My favorite photo is the sweet little heart hanging from the bird cage.
ReplyDeleteThank you, that is so sweet :)
DeleteYour place is looking so beautiful. Love those little hearts. I also love the shelf you made and have a question. We got new windows in a few years ago and not much space to put things on and I would love to have a shelf too. My question is your shelf permanent or can you remove it to clean the windows?
ReplyDeleteHi Betty, it is permanent, but I spaced it out from the window, so that the window still opens and shuts. So, when you move it up it will be easy to wash the window. I also put a very small edge on the back and raised the trim on the from up a little bit above the shelf . . . that way when opening the window it should keep anything from slipping off:)
DeleteSounds great. I am putting that on our to do list.
DeleteI'm even toying with the idea of putting one in the kitchen window:)
DeleteLove your tweeking,
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday!
Woolie Hugs
Thank you :)
DeleteOh my gosh Connie! I loved this post too! Those blue bottles are so pretty in the window. And your lovely dressing table in the corner is so nice. So many pretty vignettes! You've inspired me to do some tweaking. Thank you so much for stopping by my blog and leaving a sweet comment. Your sweet words made me cry this Sunday morning. I'm so amazed how much blog sisters encourage and support one another. You made my week Connie! A huge hug to you! Have a Blessed day friend!
ReplyDeleteSherry
Good Morning Sherry, well, right back at you . . . thank you for your encouraging words.
DeleteYour blog is amazing, I love your creativity:)
Connie, I wish we were neighbors. I can see how artistic you are and I would be doing crafts with you. LOL. I like your new windows...but now you do know you can not stand nude in the bathroom window even if it is frosted. LOL. Sweet little Paris heart. Blessings for a great Sunday. xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteOh Dear Susie, Well, our windows are frosted as you said, and there is no other house for about four or five hundred feet. If anyone looked through they would have to be right at the window and then they would only see a big fat pink blur. Nothing too impressive, LOL
DeleteI love how pretty your house is and what a fabulous idea with the rake. I have some blue bottles just like yours, the colour is so beautiful. Lovely to have a rainy day that makes you stay inside and chill xxx
ReplyDeleteHi Fran, it is always wonderful to get a visit from you . . . yep, sometimes a rainy day is a true blessing :)
DeleteNot much of a post? Are you kidding me. I loved it seeing all your tweaking and playing. Your home just looks so comfortable and inviting. I love those blue bottles and the shelf you made for them
ReplyDeleteHello Ann, thank you so much. I didn't really feel like I had a project worth blogging about and am so delighted with all of the sweet and encouraging comments that my blogging sisters, are leaving. You are so kind:)
DeleteHi Connie, Aren't you the clever one to think up that shelf and make it. What a good idea! Also love the idea of hanging your jewelry on the rake. Your place is looking so good! Nancy
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Nancy . . . I hope that you are having a lovely Sunday afternoon:)
DeleteHome Sweet Home, rain or shine. I too love the rain to get caught up. You home looks very warm and cozy. Great job!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Cathy-Lynn
Thank you so much . . . we love our little home and having a rainy day was such a blessing . . . after a hot dry summer and a warm dry fall (up to now) this weather change is a true blessing. I'm looking forward to cold weather so that I have more time inside sewing and crafting :) of course I will be looking through gardening magazines and blogs and be planning for another spring and summer. It is nice to live where we have all four seasons:)
Deletesuch a lovely place you live in..love all the beautiful little treasures..
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Lulu, and thank you so much . . . Most everything I have is homemade or thrifted . . . I love my bargains and a re-do's :)
DeleteThis is a lovely post, Connie. Your new windows look great and the blue bottles are perfect on the windowsill. Rainy days are great for being indoors and puttering.
ReplyDeleteYes they are! If it hadn't been raining I provably would have been working on an outside project and the bedroom would not have gotten fluffed and the little shelf would still be an undone ideas :)
DeleteYour new windows looks great... and so clean! Who can mind a rainy day when you can watch your garden from those windows?
ReplyDeleteI love these new windows. The old window had hard water build up and even though I gave them a good scrubbing when we bought this house last spring, they were still not clear. I'll be watching the sprinklers very close next summer . . . our water around here is terribly hard.
DeleteI'm sure that getting the new windows installed, is happiness for your hearts!
ReplyDeleteLove the little shelf, and it is such a nice added display space.
Yes.. this is a wonderful time to tweek, and feather our nest :)
Hope that this month is a great one for you!!
K.
Hello Kerin, Thank you. I am excited about this month, the outside work is getting done (we cleared out our garden Saturday) and I should start having more time to play. Also our daughter and granddaughters are coming home a few days for Thanksgiving, so we are very happy about that :)
DeleteThis was such a great post Connie. It was lovely to have a sneak peek into your home. You really do make it so homely and comfy and thank you for sharing. P x
ReplyDeleteHello Patricia, it is always a pleasure to have you stop by. This new country life agrees with us . . . life is good and this little house is truly becoming home. We do not miss our old house at all :)
Deletewow Patricia. I love that shelf you made for the blue bottles, and how creative you are to use a rake head to hang your necklaces.
ReplyDeleteThanks Becky :)
DeleteWhat a gorgeous blog Connie. I particularly love your tutorial stamping the wood and turning them into big cotton reels - so clever. Love Kate from Greedy for Colour. xx
ReplyDeleteHello Kate, I am delighted that you came by to visit and that you like my blog. I love making new friends, please visit again :)
DeleteConnie, what a fun post! I love your bathroom window, what a cute idea! and your rake jewelry holder. The view out your windows shows you live in a little slice of heaven!
ReplyDeleteCarol
Hi Carol, it is very nice to see you :) I was just bragging about you the other day to a friend of mine, telling her how you took on all the responsibilities of running your huge craft show. I told her how you just took the bull by the horns and about those gorgeous shopping bags you had made. Anytime that I get a compliment from you . . . I feel honored, because you are an A+ creative woman. Here's wishing you a lovely week and thanks again for stopping by :)
DeleteI love the blue bottles in your bathroom window, I have 2 large windows in my studio and only blue bottle in stead of curtains
ReplyDeleteI can just image how pretty that looks when the sun comes shining through :)
DeleteWhat do you mean, this isn't much of a post...it's a WONDERFUL post! I love all your posts because your lovely personality shines through and I love seeing what you're up to. I love your new bathroom window. I like how the glass is frosted so that you don't need to cover the window up with any kind of shade or curtain. But the best part is that little shelf that you put across the window. It adds so much personality. The blue glass is so beautiful...I've always been a sucker for glass bottles in windows and blue is my favorite. I really like how you painted the rake too, and transformed it into a necklace hanging. Very clever!
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Melanie, thank you for your encouraging words . . . I love visiting with you here in blog-land. I putter around my house on a rainy day, but you would head out to find a new used book store or eatery. I love all the unique places that you find to explore in your area . . . I can see you with a newspaper column, "Melanie Explores The Little Unknown Nooks and Crannies Of Chi-Town"
DeleteIt's raining here too today. I'm so glad I let the dogs out before it really started coming down. Love you blue bottles displayed on your bathroom shelf. Such a clever way to repurpose your rake parts into a jewelry holder too!
ReplyDeleteHi Brandi, There's is nothing like a loving friend (dog) when he comes in wet from the rain, LOL. Now that I have a mudroom, I have actually left Butchy out there for a while, walking on the throw rugs until his feel gets nice and dry. He doesn't seem to mind it too much. I'm delighted that you like my projects, I am really enjoying the blue bottles in the window . . . they look so pretty when the sun is shining through that window:)
DeleteI love the little shelf - the blue glass just pops against the white.
ReplyDeleteI also really like the rake idea.
I too love rainy days although we don't get many of them. It is a little cooler today after weeks of 80 degree days. I need to fluff the house today.
Hi Carol, it is great to hear from you . . . and I do hope that you are feeling better.
DeleteHappy that you like these ideas:)
The rake head - what a clever idea. I used to collect blue glass bottles but no longer.
ReplyDeleteHi Barbara, thanks . . . by husband uses a rake to hang his barbecue forks from when he's cooking outdoors :)
DeleteYou have a lot of pretty things in this post but the bottles are my favorite...my mom has blue bottles on a window sill at her place...love how the light shines through hers and yours :)
ReplyDeleteLovely pics, so many cosy spots in your house, awesome!
