My daughter knows how much I enjoy
vintage embroidered pillowcases . . .
So she brought me these at Thanksgiving.
She bought them at an estate sale.
Perfect and I love them :)
I just thought that I would share . . .
Here’s wishing you a lovely weekend.
Your blogging sister,
Connie :)
They are beautiful! Thanks for sharing! Have a great day! Nancy
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy, thank you so much. I have been under the weather with a head cold, but now I'm feeling much better :)
DeleteThey are lovely and that was thoughtful of her, happy Thursday with love Janice
ReplyDeleteHi Janice, I love how ladies used to embroidery and crochet on pillowcases and handkerchiefs . . . maybe because it reminds me of my mother and grandmother, that was something that they enjoyed doing:)
DeleteYour vintage pillow cases are so pretty.. I love vintage linens too!
ReplyDeleteGood Evening Susan, thanks so much for stopping by. I wish there were someway that I could have tea and cookies set out for my lovely visitors.
DeleteWomen used to do more hand-stitched decorating around their homes and I just feel like these pieces of old vintage linens are pure gold. A treasure in deed:)
It's nice to know that you enjoy them, too.
Connie, Those are beautiful . I love to see the wonderful needle work of the ladies that came before us. The sewing was their entertainment. Or their handmade gifts to their loved ones. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteHi Susie, it is a pleasure to have you stop by. I totally agree with everything you said here. There are some ladies out there today that are still doing this kind of delicate work, but it is truly becoming a long lost art. I love embroidery, but I cheat and do it on my sewing machine:)
DeleteEvening Connie, Oh, how I adore embroidered pillow cases....I've seen a few I regret not buying.....not anymore! Yours are too pretty....I'm partial to the pink-dogwood flower one~~~What a sweet daughter! Blessings~~~Roxie
ReplyDeleteHi Roxie, She knows what her mamma likes:) I love these and I am going to use them. I've decided that it's more fun to have lovely things and use them, than to have them tucked away in drawers with tissue paper. Maybe I'll even have a vintage dream of country gardens filled with fluttering butterflies :)
DeleteOh, I love them, too and pick them up every chance I get! My mom taught me how to do them and then crochet the edges. I love the older ones that are about shot and make curtains out of them. Have a super weekend!
ReplyDeleteI love that you make your own including the crocheted edges . . . it is a lost art and brings a smile to my face knowing that you are continuing this most lovely and delicate progress.
DeleteWhat a sweet daughter you have!!! I love vintage pillow cases too. Last year I got some that my grandmother had made...I cherish them and even pinned a note in them so that my son won't sell them for a quarter at the big (estate) sale lol!
ReplyDeleteCarol
Carol, I know that feeling. I wonder how many of my treasures will be sold someday at a yard sale . . . I just hope that people who love them come to the sale :)
DeleteSo pretty - I have a similar love for embroidered tablecloths :) x
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Fran, Me too . . . I love all things embroidered.
DeleteYour daughter knows you well. These are lovely pillowcases. You don't see handwork like that done very much anymore.
ReplyDeleteHi Lorrie, They are very rare around here . . . so these were a lovely surprise :)
DeleteI love them too. They are beautiful, and all of that work. It looks like those weren't even used!
ReplyDeleteCindy Bee
Hi Cindy, oh, they were used, there is wear on the crocheted work and a tiny little hole in one case, but that just adds to their vintage charm :)
DeleteSuch beautiful pillow cases.
ReplyDeleteHow very thoughtful of your daughter to gift them to you :)
I love them on the bed... they look perfect with the quilt.
Warm wishes~ K.
They make me want to just crawl in and take a nap, LOL
DeleteHello Connie
ReplyDeleteThanks for popping in for a visit and I'm glad I dropped over to your blog. The pillowcases are gorgeous, love the one with the butterflies. Don't you love it when our daughters indulge us with pretties!
Hi Judith, it was a very thoughtful and surprising gift. She knows the things I like and every now and then she run across something that she knows her mamma would love:)
DeleteHow thoughtful. What a wonderful gift. As a kid I never appreciated such things as embroidered pillowcases - my, oh, my, how times have changed.
ReplyDeleteHi Melanie, there is so much that we appreciate now that we never gave a thought to, in our youth. I agree the times have changes, but for the good :)
DeleteThanks for stopping by to visit, I love company.
What a sweet daughter : ) They look just perfect with your bedding. They remind me of my Grandma who made embroidered pillowcases and taught me how to do the same. I miss her so even years later but am grateful for the sweet memories. Thank you for reminding me of one today!
ReplyDeleteHi Mindy, I know what you mean . . . those pillowcases bring back memories for me , too. Childhood memories of being tucked in bed under cozy quilts and embroidered pillowcases that smelled like the sunshine from being dried on a line :)
DeleteThey are gorgeous and what a sweet, sweet daughter.
ReplyDeleteHi Billie, I love my girl and she is a sweetie to her momma :)
DeleteThey are so pretty!
ReplyDeleteThank you , Nancy :)
DeleteHow beautiful and so thoughtful of your daughter.
ReplyDeleteHi Brandi, thanks for stopping by to visit . . . I love old vintage embroidery and our daughter knows how to put a sweet smile on her momma face :)
DeleteThese were an unexpected pleasant surprise :)
Very nice. I remember my mother making pillowcases with similar designs when I was little
ReplyDeleteHi Ann, Mine too :)
Deletewow Melanie, these are gorgeous.. Is there anything you do not know how to do :)..
ReplyDeleteDear Sweet Becky, I didn't make these but I love that you think that they are gorgeous, me too :)
DeleteHave a lovely weekend, Connie :)
They are beautiful and I also love the headboard!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend!
Groetjes Karin
Thank you, I made that headboard around three years ago from Home Depot fence pickets :)
DeleteHi Connie -- finally getting up to read blogs (I'll be away for a bit again after today). I'm so glad you found The Marmelade Gypsy and am delighted to return your follow. And I have to say, there is a bit of quilt lust in this post! Your star quilt is exquisite!
ReplyDeleteHi Jeanie, thank you so much. I am a quilter, but I have to confess that this is a store bought quilt. I've had it for maybe 10 years and the more I wash it the prettier and softer it gets. I really love it, too :)
DeleteWhat a beautiful gift! The look like they are in mint condition and perfect for your bungalow!
ReplyDeleteHi Lynn, for being old pillowcases they are in nice condition (hardly mint) but I love them just the same.
DeleteThey are exactly what I want to decorate my little old bungalow with. The more vintage style that I can bring
into our home the better and more cozy it feels :)
Hi Connie,
ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful and in such great shape! I love the crochet edging; one reason I really need to learn how to crochet!
Blogger is playing jokes on me. My Blog List is gone (again). Luckily I remember your blog name by heart!
Hugs,
Kay
Dear Kay, I am so sorry to hear that you are having a problem with blogger, but delighted that you remembered my blog address . . . wow, that really touched my heart. I love the little crocheted edges, but I don't think that I could ever do that. Much to intricate.
DeleteThank you for all your lovely comments and visits to my blog!
ReplyDeleteAmazing what little treasures you can find at estate sales.
Have a good week!
Ingrid
Hello Ingrid, it is lovely to have you stop by and visit. I love your site :)
DeleteHow lovely. My mother still has many of my grandmother's linens. A treasure you don't often see these days.
DeleteI love your pretty pillowcases...not too many do this work any more.
ReplyDeleteI am now following you thru Google Friends Connect....:)
Hi BJ, it is great to have you stop by and I am delighted to have you as my newest follower . . . I'm doing my happy dance, be glad that you don't have to see this, LOL.
DeleteThey are absolutely beautiful!
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Rebecca, Thank you so much . . . here's wishing you a day filled with peace and love :)
DeleteThey're gorgeous! What a sweet daughter!
ReplyDeleteShe's a keeper, LOL
DeleteHi Connie! Thanks for coming over to my blog to say hi and leave your sweet comment. I'm so glad to find another person that loves vintage pillow cases! I snatch those things up whenever I can! Your's are so pretty!
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly, thanks for the visit it is always so nice to meet and greet a new blogging friend. It is hard to find these around here, so it was a delightful surprise when our sweet girl gifted me with them :)
DeleteThose are beautiful, Connie. My neighbor uses unwanted pillowcases to make dresses for little girls in Haiti; and she makes shorts for boys from old tee shirts.
ReplyDeletePillow case dresses are very popular . . . my daughter has made some for her girls, too. They are nice and light for summer :)
DeleteThey are truly beautiful, what a work of art. Happy Holidays Connie!
ReplyDeleteI know, finding old vintage embroidered pillow cases is a treat, I was delighted with my gift :)
DeleteThis is a beautiful gift from your daughter and the pillowcases look perfect and are beautiful as well. I love the bed too. Enjoy them!
ReplyDeleteHugs Kelly
Thank you again, Kelly. Welcome to my humble blog and thank you for following me.
DeleteI do believe that we are going to be great blogging sisters.
Merry Christmas!
