June Sunshine

I'm loving the pretty June sunshine.
There's nothing quite so sweet
as sleeping under sun dried sheets.

Our garden is off to a go start.
This is our cabbage.

The beans are starting to take off.
Don't be scared, that snake you see is rubber.
He's great for keeping birds away.

The berry bushes are in bloom.

I'm enjoying flowers

in the garden.

And picking some

for inside :)

This lovely pitcher was a gift
from my sweet friend Shirley.

We got the hammock out for summer naps.

The sky has been gorgeous

with layers of color.

I also found this quilt rack

at the Goodwill for $5.
I'm doing my happy dance :)

The last thing I want to show you
are these coasters that came in the mail
from Boys Town.
Have any of you received them?

They are too pretty to put a wet glass on,
I've decided to make a summer banner with them.

Maybe for my next post.

  2. I find that the 80's decor has been abundant in that Country heart cut-out. Everyone seems to be getting rid of them and I keep picking them up at sales. Five Dollars is a GREAT Find!

    1. You're right, it does date it to the 80's, but it's nice having a place to display some of my quilts and to be able say, to a cold visiting friend, just grab the one you like and cuddle up :)

  4. Hi Connie :) Lovely garden photos! I love the idea of that rubber snake, it really does work? I have issues with the birds here and last year I resorted to chicken wire to cover everything, but that is so "owie" at times lol...great find on the quilt rack! It's pouring rain here today and feels like November but it's helping the potatoes go gangbusters so I'm happy! :)

    1. Hi Rain, the snakes do work . . . you have to change them around every few days or the bird catch on . . . or maybe they think that they are dead, but if you move them around they do a pretty good job.

  6. Pretty display of quilts. My late father in law made me a quilt rack like that once. I used it for years until we simply go tired of it. I gave it to mom. come to think of it, im not sure what she did with it. Oh well.
love the flowers in the pitcher and I agree about the coasters. Too prett to use.
    Happy June!

    1. Who knows, maybe your Mom gave it to the Goodwill and it's the one I have now, LOL. I tried painting it, but it has a wax finish and the paint just wouldn't stick. So, I then I worked on getting it all off, LOL. I do like having a place to display some of my quilts:)

  8. Your hammock...looks wonderful! Did you know the best way to lay on a hammock is vertical and not horizontal? Yeah, I was watching FB and these two men tried out 3 different beds, the hammock, a heat and comfort bed and 3rd a bed made in Sweden made with horse hairs that is supposed to be so comfortable you think your sleeping on a cloud....oh but very expensive. It was decided that the hammock was the most comfy. The maker of the hammock said laying on the hammock vertical is the best because it fits every bend of the back and neck etc. I don't know how true....but I certainly would try it.....if I had one lol!!

Your garden is looking great and flowers too. I would probably turn those bird coasters into cards, most likely. Fun hanging clothes out (in the country, air more fresher) not so much in the city.

    1. I am not clear on how you lay in a vertical position. Maybe I'm slow . . . I need a picture.
My dad always had a hammock and I love them partly because they make me think of him. I remember as a little girl laying in the hammock with him while he pointed out the stars and told me their names:)

    1. Hi Kristina, well bedding is about the only thing that I line dry. It's just easier and faster to use the drier, but the line certainly makes clothes smell heavenly.

  13. What a beautiful sky! We’ve had some interesting cloud formations this spring over here on the east side too. Your garden looks as though it’s doing very well. I’ve been debating planting a small patch at the lake. I need to make up my mind pretty quickly if I want to do it. Thequilt rack was quite the bargain. Gorgeous!

  15. Connie, You and Steve are true gardeners. I would be so made if something ate my crops. LOL. We have a pepper and tomato planted in the same whiskey barrel. They look fine for now. Loved seeing all your pictures. It's nice to see what our blog family is doing and what they get to see from their porch. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  16. Hi Connie, Your crops look like they are doing well. Did the Yard Long beans germinate for you? Mine did but seem to be growing very slowly. Lovely flowers you picked. Gardening is a challenge with the weather, bugs and Coco here. Don't you just love days with sunshine. Everything seems so much nicer. Love the quilt rack. Lucky you to find that for $5. Your quilts look so pretty on it! Beautiful sky pictures! Nancy

  20. I love seeing what's going on in your yard...your gardens are always so amazing. Your new pitcher is so pretty (what a lovely gift!) and is perfect for flowers. Oh, how I wish we had a bigger piece of land with trees so that we could have a hammock! I know you can buy the free-standing ones, but it's just not the same. And we have a VERY small backyard where all the neighbors can see us, so there's no privacy anyway. Great find on the quilt rack! And no, I have not received the coasters in the mail from Boys Town. We used to receive free address labels in the mail from different companies, and we don't get those anymore either.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Oh, I have enough address labels to last me two lifetimes and we have only been here four years. We are always joking about . . . guess what we got today in the mail . . . address labels . . . how did they know we needed them? LOL Have you ever thought about those colorful triangle sails. You see them uses a lot at outdoor cafes. I think they provide shade but also privacy from neighbors. I think they are so pretty :)

My grandma hung all the clothes out to dry in New England but here where I am summer you just cant its our tropical rainy season but I do in the fall and winter here nothing like sun dried linens. Wish I was your neighbor cause I know youll be sharing your garden bounty with them again this year. Enjoy your afternoon nap on your hammock! Lisa @ Sweet Tea N' Salty Air

  27. Connie, your garden looks like it is doing really good! Oh how I wish I could have appreciated a garden with it's wonderful goodness when I was a girl growing up...my parents always had such nice ones but I cared little about them. Great idea about the rubber snake..haha! Oh yeah, and freshly washed sheets dried by the sun is one of my favorite memories growing up! Blessings!

    1. I never had a garden until moving here. Therefore; I am a late bloomer in the whole process, but thanks to the internet and my gardening blogging sisters, I have learned a lot. Line dried sheets are a sweet memory for me too. That is the reason I wanted a clothesline when we moved to the country. Bedding is about the only thing that I ever hang outside to dry, but they smell so sweet when dried by the sun that we loved it.

  29. Connie, this is such a wonderful month isn't it? Everything there is in such gorgeous bloom! My poor raspberries aren't doing much so far this year, darn it. I think I might have pruned them too much! I too got those coasters from Boys Town and thought, hum.m.m.m don't want to set a wet glass on these. Now that you mention it, there are many things a person could do with these! I'm thinking either frame them, 4 in a frame, or could put mod podge on them to protect them, or maybe mount each one on a little canvas and then decorate it up for a wall hanging. How fun! Hope you get to spend many days this summer in that hammock! I had one as a little girl and us kids used to love playing in it and tipping each other out! Happy June! Marilyn
