Make-Over Lampshades

Before I get started

with this make-over post.

I want to thank all of you

that left your sweet comments

concerning Butchy's death.

He was a sweet little dog

and for a little fellow that

has been living with diabetes

and taking insulin for the past 5 years,

he has had a remarkable life

He will be greatly missed.

Once upon a time

this bedroom looked like this . . .

(notice the two lamps) ]

Then last year I painted,

wall papered,and build

a new headboard.

(notice the lamps are replaced)

Well, those lamps have

been sitting out in the

garage waiting for me to have

a yard sale.

This week after taking down

the Christmas decorations,

I decide to rearrange the

living room and I needed

two lamps . . . so these two

came back into the house

and got a make-over.

Using painters drop cloth,

glue and uneven yarn I covered

the shades . . . but left

the lamp base the same as before.

 Light Off.

Light on.

I'll save the living room

rearrange for my next post . . .

put I do like the way these

lamps turned out.

Have a lovely week,

God bless you all . .

Your blogging sister,

Connie :)

  5. First, I'm sorry that I missed the post on Butchy. They do become part of the family and it's so hard when our furry friends pass. You gave him a good life and loved him well.
You are a genius with those shades! I would never think of doing that. They turned out beautiful!

I like the lamps on the wall in the bedroom but I change things around too much. :)

  8. I'm glad you got so much love after Butchy's death. It can almost be as hard as losing a human, they take up so much room in our hearts.
You did a wonderful job on the lampshades. I think you should have been a professional decorator. You have such brilliant ideas and know how to put them into effect. Not me. I couldn't think of your beautiful projects ever.
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

  9. I like what you've done with your bedroom lamps. They look totally different and suit your living room well. I look forward to the post where you tell how you rearranged it.
You wondered just where I live. I live in Abbotsford, B.C. just a mile or two North of the border.

  15. I love the way you have twined 'flowers' through your new paling headboard. It makes it look so romantic and feminine, just like a dreamy cottage garden :)

  17. We too have lamps that hang on the wall, gives us more room on our nightstands. I love how you have repurposed these, that yarn is a neat touch on them, good thing you didn't have that garage sale yet :)
    Happy New year!!

  18. Hi Connie, I must tell you this in all honesty … every time I stop by Crafty Home Cottage I have to sit here for a few moments and reflect on what a wonderful sense of creativity you have and how you are able to turn it into reality. The new bedroom looks great with your new additions and changes. You are truly amazing at being crafty! 😊 I am sorry to hear about Butchy. Such a sweet little dog. Thank you for sharing your blog and thank you for recently stopping by John’s Island and wishing me Happy New Year. Same to you Connie and blessings as well. Take good care my Eastern Washington friend! John

  19. Oh Connie.. these are gorgeous! Using the painter's drop cloth to match your chair... ingenious! Could you do a post on how you attached the fabric? I've wanted to make over some of my lamps, but worry that if I use fabric, it would get too hot. I love your ideas! Your "new" bedroom looks so so nice... and your living room is so put together and cozy. Love all the blues in there.. know I've told you before! With the lights on, the shades look so neat.. love that look. Wonder how your winter weaher is up there?? We're having some fairly mild days and no snow or ice! I'm so happy! Hugs.. Marilyn

  21. Love the way the shades came out, perfect. Have you seen the price of new lampshades? Crazy. And I don't think any new would be as pretty as yours.
