Relaxing Sunday

I love Sunday mornings . . .

and truly like to get ready for

them the day before . . .

Getting clothes laid out.

Planing my meal . . .

 This time that met going

to the garden and picking greens

for a salad.

I have baby Romain lettuce

growing on the front porch

in a pot placed in a shady corner.

creating my salad mix I added basil

lemon balm

red lettuce & parsley

as well as chives.

I plan on mixing this green mix

with grapefruit tomorrow

along with balsamic vinegar dressing

for a light lunch.

 Today I also cut some rhubarb  . . .

And put up Rhubarb Sauce for winter.

Sunday is a nice day to relax

and forget about chores.

Romans 12: 9-14

I great day to gather with friends

and praise the Lord together.

Maybe even get in an afternoon nap :)

I hope you all have a lovely Sunday,

whether you spend it at church,

gathering with family,

camping . . .

whatever you're doing . . .

May God bless your day :)

Thank you for stopping by.

Your blogging sister, Connie :)

  1. I love that you're able to go out and pick your lunch for Sunday. That is so healthy. I don't go to the extent of laying out my clothes, but I do have an idea of what I'm going to wear for church. I always look forward to Sunday mornings so much. Going to study the Word together in Sunday School and then worshipping the LORD together with other believers.
I hope you're morning with your brothers and sisters is wonderful. I've been meaning to ask you if you've been using your cute truck camper this year?
    Enjoy you're beautiful home Connie.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

    1. I have not used it this year and I'm beginning to debate if it's worth keeping, what with insurance and plates. It's good if I use it but a waste if I don't. I still haven't gotten up the courage or the thought of wanting to try camping alone. When I think of camping I just remember how fun it was with Steve.
The only reason that I lay out my clothes the night before, is because sometimes I'm running late, because I hit the snooze on the alarm :)

  2. Connie you again put me to shame! You say you are relaxing today? NOT! I don't think so... :-) your salad looks devine and sounds so good. I forget that I could have planted some lettuce in my planters or pots, where they can be moved to the shade. I did that last year but it was just an experiment.. I did get some lettuce too. I forgot about that. I don't really have a nice front porch for my plants and pots.. and I think the deer might sneak up to my front walkway and eat any veggies I put out there. I'm surprised you don't have deer come in and eat everything in sight, plus your flowers! I be that rhubarb sauce is so good.... I did mange to make some homemade applesauce the other day as I had some apples that needed eating and I can't chew hard things since my dental surgery last Tuesday.. so I made the applesauce and it was so good. That's about all I make anymore. Now don't you go and sell that camper yet! We need it try camping at least once this summer to see if we like it and can manage it! I just paid for tags for my Van that last 2 years, and my cheap "standby" insurance is just about nothing, so it's not costing me anything hardly. I'm getting the neighbor boy to "de rust" the top roof and repaint it, so she will be good as new.. well.. almost.. wish she was new! I hope you have a sweet Sunday tomorrow... hugs.. Marilyn

  3. Great idea growing a variety of lettuces in pots so you can move them into the shade on hot days. I must try that next year.
Your rhubarb sauce has such a pretty colour. I can just imagine how good it tastes.
I hope your Sunday is pleasant and relaxing. GM

  6. Your salads look so fresh and inviting, Connie. I use a lot of herbs in my salads including basil, tarragon and chives. I have a good crop of basil in the greenhouse! I felt a little the same as you on taking my first holiday alone in 43 years recently when I went to Italy. The group was mostly couples or ladies who came with a friend, but everyone was very friendly.

  10. What a lovely Sunday post. I would enjoy relaxing with you on that beautiful porch and eating those fresh greens from your garden. Yes, we gathered at church this morning, and it was such a wonderful service. That is the highlight of our week, gathering with our friends in Christ and worshiping Him and Praising God in song and service. This afternoon I am enjoying watching the birds in our back yard overlooking Still Waters Pond. It's a rather warm and sunny day, but after a week of rain it is kind of nice for a change. Everything looks nice and green and happy, and the birds are singing. Perfect Sunday afternoon! Hope you have a pleasant and wonderful rest of your day and week.

  11. My day has been spent cleaning, doing laundry, and puttering around the house. Now I need to go to the grocery store. Hoping for a rest/little cat nap when I get home. Your salad looks and sounds delicious. Isn't it wonderful to be able to pick greens and veggies from your own garden? I have just one rhubarb plant but that is plenty for us. I've made rhubarb cookies, a crisp, and banana rhubarb bread. And still have a huge freezer bag full of chopped rhubarb. Your porch looks so pretty and inviting!

  14. Oh Cathy I do so love Sundays. Your salad fixins look excellent and so healthy. I like to have everything done before Sunday too...usually have something fixed so all I have to do is pop it in the oven. This time of the year find myself after church and lunch stretched out on lounge chair with a good book that seems to always lead to a nap :)!! Have a blessed week - hugs!
