Sprucing Up For Fall

I added a few touches of Fall

to the living room today.

I started with this

acrylic painting that I did

a few years ago.

I never was happy with it,

but now I like it with the

addition of lettering.

In the spring I was cleaning

up the yard and there was

something about these

twigs that I liked

so I bundled up a bunch to save.

I just hot glued a few

Dollar Tree leaves to them

and put them in this old pitcher.

The little pumpkins are from

a generous neighbor's garden,

they dropped a bunch off

at my free-stand.

This vase

and

the arrangement in it

is a new purchase

from the Dollar Tree.

(the photo in the background

it a newspaper clipping of our

home being moved from a town

around 40 miles away

to where it is today)

That's it for to night.

I don't tweak the house

for the seasons

as much as I used to.

🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁

Small projects can make

a difference.

Thank you all for stopping by.

God Bless You

🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁

Have a nice weekend

Your blogging sister,

Connie :)

  1. Your fall touches look fantastic. That painting is wonderful. Your talents are endless. Dollar Tree has some nice things that make it easy to decorate for very little money.

  2. Lovely arrangements. We dont really celebrate Autumn in UK, sadly, except for Harvest Festival at church. I would love to hear more about your house move.

    1. It's quite interesting. I'm still digging to find more information but it's been fun and that newspaper clipping with the truck an the house loaded up behind it was a surprise gift that was emailed me from a gentleman that is into the history of the town that this house came from.

    1. Thank you, my budget gets tighter everyday as grocery prices raised along with every other thing. Seems like every time I turn around prices keep going up. Recycling old things in new ways and bringing in items from nature is one way of keeping the budget down. I'm glad you like the painting, thank you.

  4. You moved your house? I would love to hear that story! I am guessing it is historic or a longtime family home.

    1. No, we didn't move it here. Someone else moved it here in the 70s and then we bought it much later when they put it up for sale. It is an interesting story though. I have posted about it in the past but maybe I'll do a new post in the near future.

  8. Hi Connie! I always love to see the changes you make at home, big or small. They are ALWAYS perfect. That painting is wonderful. I always lean toward red trucks in decorations and your words make it perfect. I never, ever would have thought to glue Dollar Tree leaves to twigs! I need you to visit and decorate for me my friend.
We're in the Black Hills right now and the nearest town to us has a Dollar Tree! Maybe I'll ask Dennis to take me there tomorrow and see if they have those sweet vases for fall. It would be great on our dining table.
Have a lovely weekend and keep looking up. Jesus is coming soon, don't you think?
    Blessings and love,
    Betsy

    1. I do believe He is, but at my age I feel that I could be called home any time. So, whether in depth or in rapture, I'm ready :)

  9. Everything looks so lovely and autumnish! I love the painting of the farm to table truck/barn! You painted that? You are very talented indeed! And I love your cute idea of the twigs and leaves, etc. Everything looks so nice. And yes, I'd love to hear the story about your house being moved to its present location, and would love to see that newspaper picture up close! Maybe a new post or a link to the old one you said you did before? That would be great! Have a blessed rest of your week.

    1. Thank for this sweet comment. I've had enough interest in my home's story that I will indeed start putting a post together sometimes soon. After I put my garden to bed for the winter :)

  10. Oh good. I'll be looking forward to hearing about how your house was moved and why!!
I like your Autumn decor. Amazing what a few twigs and leaves will do. Your painting is so perfect for the season too.
I bought a bag of assorted gourds at the grocery store just today to make my house look like Fall.

    1. Setting those gourds around your home (here and there) will certainly bring on the feeling of Fall. I love this time of the year when the sun is warm in the afternoon but the mornings and evenings are crisp and cool.

  11. You always amaze me with all you can do. You are so talented to be able to paint, quilt, garden and so much more. I am happy that you like your painting now. It's perfect and it looks nice displayed on your mantle. All your other displays certainly say "Autumn". Isn't decorating fun? This was a nice post.

  14. I love your painting and all the special touches for Fall. You would be proud of me this week. I've been altering and sewing things for our camper. It's not my favorite thing to do but I like the results! Hugs Diane

  15. I love Autumn the most so I usually decorate a lot for that but have drastically went down in my decorating of other seasons. Wow you did an awesome job on that painting and the lettering is just perfect with it. Love your dollar tree goodies, I need to stop in and see what they have here. I love what you did with the twigs!
I did pick up some of that washi tape from your other post, now I just need to get an idea of how to use it on a card :)

    1. I'm happy that they still had the washi tape when you went looking for it. Looking forward to seeing how you decorate your house for Autumn :) Do you ever show your decorating?

  16. Happy "almost" Fall Connie! I just stopped by in case you may have posted! And you did! I love a few touches of Fall colors here and there in my home. The main thing I usually do is put on one of my Fall tableclothes on my dining table, and some sort of enterpiece on the table. When I lived in Washougal, WA, we had lots of vine maple trees on our property, and I would cut off the twiggy branches with the bright orange and yellow leaves on them, and put them in the house in vases of water. They would last a good 2-3 weeks! So your twigs gave me the idea to be ready to search here for vine maple.... I've seen it around here and there (not as plentiful as where I lived) but at least it's here and I can find and use it! Your painting is just darling and fits so well on your lovely gorgeous mantel! I love mini pumpkins to decorate my porch usually. I have a big covered porch now but not sure what to do with it for Fall! Give us some ideas using YOUR porch!!??? That would be great! Hugs to you! 1. I'm sure that I'm going to be too busy for decorating the front porch. I've too many projects lined up between now and cold weather. My energy level is not what it used to be.
