$65 Kitchen Make-Over

I am one of those people that cannot

be around paint without

painting something.

Sunday evening I remembered

a third of a gallon of

white paint left over

from two projects this year.

That's all it took . . .

just that thought

and I ran to the computer

and ordered new knobs & handles

for the kitchen cupboards.

Then Monday morning I got that

paint out of storage and started

painting the kitchen cupboards.

Well, here's the mess that

always comes with a project.

In the eleven years that

we've had this house

the kitchen has been yellow . . .

Turquoise . . .

and Grey.

This is what it looked

like when we bought

the house.

It always amazes me,

what just a coat of paint

can do.

The knobs and handles

costed me around $65.00

and the paint was left over.

So . . . I would say,

"Not bad for a cheap make-over"

Have a great week!

    1. A little paint can have a big decorating punch and at a small price. How can we not get excited when we are in possession of a can of paint and a brush, LOL

  3. It looks really nice! That was a very reasonable kitchen make over!

    1. I thought so too. I found that ordering knobs and handles on Amazon is sometimes half or even less than that of going to a home improvement store.

  4. You have impeccable taste Connie. I really like all of the variations of your kitchen. The fabrics for under the sink are perfect for each version.

    1. Sometimes I think that I'm afraid to not be busy. It may not be such a good thing, but I do get a lot done :)

    1. It's funny because way back in the 60's I had a landlady that had an all white kitchen and I fell head over heals in love with it. Yet, it has taken me this long to paint mine white.

  12. Connie, you beat all! An idea pops into your head and you immediately get it done. I usually dread starting and put things off. Your kitchen looks so pretty. I love it. Your house is always so neat and clean.

    1. You're very kind, I think sometimes I don't give an idea time to marinate . . . I just jump in whole hog an "Get R Done".

  13. Connie it looks great! You amaze me! I wish you could come and paint my kitchen cupboards! They are an ugly green. I do not like to paint! I have lots of cans of paint and they just sit there! For some reason, it is very intimidating to me and the cleanup is worse than the actual painting job! (to me anyway!). If I could just throw everything away afterwards (like the brushes and pan, etc.) I would maybe tend to do it. The green cupboards are on my "to do" list, which may never get done! Your kitchen... I remember the many colors and loved each one! I always love a white kitchen though.. it's so clean and bright and crisp. The knobs are so pretty too and I would probably agonize over which ones to get! I have a hard time making decisions.... love to you on this beautiful Friday! I just stopped by to see if you had posted.. and you did! Hugs.. Marilyn

    1. I do have things that I procrastinate about, but painting is usually not one of them, unless it means climbing high on a ladder. Ladders do scare me. Thanks for stopping by, I'd like to encourage you to just get started. Maybe pick something like white for the top and only do that much. Then you can take a break and spend some time thinking about a bottom color. You might even like the green better if it were only the bottom cabinets. Just a thought.

  15. It looks wonderful. I am in a condo community now and a friend and I are getting set to paint the kitchen cabinets in there. They are 'leftovers' from the 70s or 80s and desperately need doing. White paint here we come! xo Diana

    1. Thanks. The white really makes my kitchen look brighter; I need that since I only have one small window over the sink.

  18. Love the white cabinets and new knobs and handles. Looks like quite the professional job! And your kitchen looks so fresh and "new". I just now saw your comment on my (old) blog post about my hardwood floors. You are right - they're not the newer laminate that's out there. They're Bruce hardwood (which is engineered hardwood). The darker flooring in my kitchen is about 23 years old and the lighter flooring in the living room, hallway and bedrooms is about 15 years old. It holds up very well!

    1. I'm always attracted to beautiful floors and yours are gorgeous. You take great care of them. You can tell when a home is loved . . . It's the difference between a house and a home 🏠

  19. Girl, I just can't understand how you can stretch paint that far! LoL It would take me an entire gallon and probably more. Your kitchen is beautiful and fresh looking!
