The Bad And The Good Of My Week

 I've been having
a good week
&
Truly hope that you
can say the same 😊

I needed a couple greeting cards
but didn't feel like driving to town.
I haven't made homemade
cards in such a long time,
it was actually a lot of fun.

I went to Pinterest
for inspiration.

Do you remember the grow light
stands that I made a couple
weeks ago.

Well, some of the plants
are up and doing
very well :)

These are little tomato plants.

Another thing I did this week
was work on a quilt.
I was doing free motion quilting
and I thought everything
was going well,
until I looked at the back
and found that the tension
was off.
I had a half a bobbin
of sewing to rip out 😫

Oh well, we have to take the
bad with the good.
It's all ripped out now
and I can start again.

Actually I have nothing
to complain about.
Ripping out some stitches
is a very trifle thing.

I hope you'll leave a comment
I love reading them.

God bless you all!

    1. It's hard to believe that only a few months from now they will be filled with tomatoes :)

  2. The card that you made looks great and much more meaningful than a bought one. Your tiny new plants are also looking good.
The grow-light apparatus that you made is proving to be very helpful. Those teeny weeny basil plants made me smile>💚
Sorry about the sewing problem but thankfully you noticed before TOO much ripping out had to be done.
I hope you have a pleasant weekend.

  3. Connie, I have done that with a machine too, and it is so annoying to have to rip out stitches! Your Tomato plants look about the same size as mine, on my kitchen window sill. They took 10 days to germinate.

    1. It's hard to believe that those tiny little plants will supply me and friends with tomatoes for summer and canned in jars for food all through the winter :)

  5. Ripping seams might be trifle, but it is annoying! Love the cards.

  6. Your baby plants are certainly growing nicely. Ripping out quilting stitches is not fun, luckily you checked the back before you finished the whole quilt.

    1. Oh, I can not imagine ripping out a whole quilt. Not much chance of that for me because I quilt on my home machine (not a big longarm) I can't go farther than a full bobbin, and that would defiantly be too much :)

  7. Those cards are beautiful! Certainly better than any we could buy in a store! You are very gifted! And how wonderful your tomato plants are all coming up and getting ready to be transplanted I assume? What fun! You will have tomatoes galore! Oh, I know how frustrating it can be to find out your bobbin tension was off, or that the bobbin thread ran out or something like that. I do not have a lot of patience when it comes to sewing. Thank you for setting a good example. I bet if I sat and sewed with you I could be a better seamstress! However, I need a decent sewing machine first. (or else I need to learn how to use it better!). I enjoyed your post. Sounds like you've had a productive week. Thank you for sharing it with us. You are an inspiration.

    1. Oh my, you are too kind, but thank you. If you lived closer I would say, to bring your machine over and we could sew together :)

    1. Thank you, I have been enjoying the process of making them. As for the little plants . . . They are getting so expensive in the stores,; I couldn't afford having a garden if I didn't start my own plants.

  10. Your cards are beautiful! Who wouldn't rather receive a handmade card than a store-bought one? Yours are frame-worthy, too! I bet you smile when you see your plant sprouts getting bigger. I know I would!

    1. Growing vegetable from seed especially tomatoes and peppers just amazes me, every year. Here it is March and the tomatoes are an inch high and by August I can start canning tomatoes for winter. That's a huge amount of growth in just a few months.

  11. You are so talented, Connie. Those little tomato seedlings are little miracles. Isn't it amazing that they will grow and grow to give you wonderful juicy tomatoes in a few months? I'm planning to start my tomatoes in a couple of days.

    1. Enjoy watching them grow . . . I agree it's a miracle. All of God's creations are miracles. Just look at our bodies and how they function. Even each part, the human eye for instance. 🥰

  12. How wonderful that the tiny little plants are growing so well. It's great to see great success in the things we do like planting our own seeds and being able to produce the food we eat. so sorry about your stitches you had to take out...a small set back, but I know you had it done in no time at all. Such a wonderful idea to make your own cards and they are beautiful....Happy Weekend.

  13. A warm greeting from Viola. The cards you made are great. It's fantastic to receive a card you've made yourself... the recipients will be very happy :-)))
The seeds under the light system you built have sprouted beautifully... a joy. Spring is calling and beckoning, it will be wonderful when you can plant the plants in the garden in a few weeks. Today we have 18 degrees Celsius, from Wednesday it will be rainy and cooler here... and there may well be frost.
I'm really looking forward to your quilting work.
Hug and best wishes for you.

  14. Connie your cards are so lovely. Homemade ones from the heart are so much better than store-bought. Certain your recipients are going to adore them. How wonderful to see those tomatoes up and growing. I have tried starting some indoors but they struggle...think a warming pad would help them - which I don't have...was somewhat successful starting perennials in milk jugs this past year...will give it another try again. You are certainly staying busy. May God bless your coming week. Hugs!

    1. I've been watching You Tube videos on milk jug winter planting, it looks very interesting :) Maybe I'll try it next year, but starting seeds in my mud room seems to work well for me.

  15. Your cards are so sweet and I am sure will be very well received, it is always nice to get something someone made, I love them both! Your lights worked great, you have a good start there. That is a bummer your quilting messed up, But like you said no sense in complaining, thankfully it can be redone :)

  16. Hi Connie... such a sweet post. I LOVE your cards! I love the flower with the petals and the verse quotes. How ingenius! Your other card too is so pretty, with the bee and twirly little flowers. One of these days I want to make a totally hand drawn card! I've done it in the past, but many years ago. Now I rely on rubber stamps and images from paper pads. The only thing I miss when I make homemade cards, are a nice long sentiment/poem inside. Sometimes I do go to Pinterest or look at card images, just to get ideas for sentiments inside. I've even been known to take pictures of them at the store when I'm there! Oh.. and your baby plants are doing great! Those grow lights are so handy and useful. I wish I had a spot to start plants inside. Well I do really, but it's taken up with my "photo shoot" area for Etsy jewelry listings that I do for my dtr in law! Sigh.. oh well.. we can't do it all! Hugs.. Marilyn

  17. No we can't do it all, but that doesn't keep us from wanting to. I love trying all kinds of new things and I think you do too.

  18. Connie,
My friend you are an inspiration. Custom creation of greeting cards … now that inspires me. Love the “God Says You Are” card! Neat update on the grow lights and the little plants popping up. I hope you will continue to keep us posted as you move the plants into your garden. Thank you for always posting something that cheers me up. God bless you Connie!
