Easy Banana Coconut Cake

(that old sliver cake server belonged to
my Mama when I was a little girl)

You're all probably too young
to remember a song
that started out . . .
"If I knew you were coming
I'da baked a cake"

Well last Friday I baked a cake

and everyone wanted my recipe.

I was a little hesitant to give it

because these ladies always

bake cakes from scratch.

All that I did was add a

ripe banana to a yellow cake mix,

then I added coconut extract

to a powdered sugar and water

glaze and topped with coconut.

Sooooooooooooo Easy!

You might have noticed my

aprons on the wall in

the photo with the table.

My old rake handle hanger

is very full.

Since my fall a couple months ago

I have started wearing aprons

everyday.  Not all by clothes

have pockets and if we fall

and we are alone, having our

phone in our pocket is

a necessity.

Flowers from the garden :)

If you try my cake, you'll

have to take the good rating

from my friends, because I didn't

even taste it.

This is why.

I have been having this problem

for well over a year,

but it started getting worst

so I've started this diet.

There are a lot of "NO'S" in it

that I don't like but I'm doing anyway.

No Coffee or Tea

No Chocolate

No Spicy Food

No High Fat Dairy . . .

That means

No Ice Cream

No Tomatoes

(and I have a garden full of them)

No Fried Foods

No High Sugary Foods

Oh, and many small meals eaten

slow throughout the day rather

than my usual

two eaten faster than I realized.

😔What's a food loving girl to do😟

The bright side is that I've

been on it just over a

week now and it working :)

🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻

Wishing you all a wonderful week.

God bless you,

Another New Apron

I made another apron

it's my new way of always

having my phone

with me around the house

and outside.

This is the pattern

I used.

Only I rounded the bottom

hem on mine.

These are my outside

and reverse side

fabrics.

There is a lot of trimming

to do because of

the curses.

Front

And Back.

No ties 😊

🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜

While I'm waiting on

the lawnmower and tractor

to be repaired

I'm having fun sewing :)

Wishing you all

a wonderful week

and thank you for

stopping by to visit.

Makeover Apron

I've had some unexpected
time to sew :)

The tractor has been giving
me trouble since
driving over an above ground
root and getting the blade stuck
a couple weeks ago.

So I decided to get it fixed
before it turned into
something harder to fix.
I also had him take my
push mower.  It has been sitting
for about 6 years,
but started right up.
The only thing is that the
self-propelled function
doesn't work.

Well, with those gone
they put yard work on hold.
✂🪡🪡🪡✂
Time for fun with
the sewing machine.

This apron was a gift
from my sweet neighbor.
She gave it to me
many years ago.
It is so cute but I
haven't worn it much
because it's long waisted
and has no pockets.
I love the flour sack look,
it's just my style :)

I shortened it up by
taking a tuck in the top
and adding a ruffle.
It did make me loose the
pretty double blue stripe
and left an ugly pleat.

I've always heard that
the best way to hide
something is to put it in
plain sight or draw
attention to in.
That's why I added the
red heart buttons.

As I said before it
needed pockets.
One for my phone and
one for doggy treats :)

Even since my fall
I am paying much more
attention to having my
phone with me all the time.
📱🖁📱🖁📱
Wearing an apron is the
prefect answer to that.

Well, that's what I did
today . . .

✂🪡🪡🪡✂

It's nice to have a
garden break . . .
if I can just keep
up with watering & weeding.
I'll be good until the
tractor gets fixed.

Have a sweet day 😇

Winter Sewing & Baking

The weather is very cold

and the roads are bad . . .

Time to stay inside and spend time

sewing and baking bread.

Here are a few photos

of the process

and the detail of my

apron project :)

The pockets.

The back.

Don't you just love the smell

of bread baking in the oven.

The only thing better is

slicing it and spreading

on some butter whiles it's warm :)

Stay warm my friends,

and may the Good Lord keep

you under the shadow of His wing.

Remember He Loves You!

until next time . . .

Welcome Summer!

 Summer is here!

Finally :)

I absolutely love cutting flowers

from the garden and bringing

them into the house.

They say,

"Make hay while the sun shines"

And now that the rain has slowed

down, that's what the farmer

across the road is doing.

I've had time to work on the

quilt that I started last Fall :)

All of my blocks are quilted

with batting and backing . . .

Now I'm starting to trim them all

to a 17 inch square . . .

And when they are all trimmed,

I'll start putting them together

in a "Quilt As You Go"

fashion.

This method works so well for

large quilts, if you don't have

a long-arm machine.

Last fall I purchased this old

apron at a thrift store.

I can't remember what I paid,

but I remember thinking that

it was too much because of the stain.

Now I'm happy to have an old stained apron

hanging in my kitchen.

It's the first one I pick

for a dirty job :)

I bought it because I wanted

to use it for a pattern.

so, yesterday I made this :)

Well, that's it for today.

Thank you so much for visiting.

I hope you'll take a minute

to leave a comment and say "Hi!"

God bless you all!

 Connie :)

Happy Valentie's Day

Today's post is my valentine

to all of you . . .

I've gone through my archives

and found projects with hearts . . .

like these many banners from years

gone by :)

This is a windmill we purchased

for our 40th anniversary.

And this is the base Steve

made for it :)

Next I found pot holders

dish towels, mug rugs & quilt labels.

Many journal pages . . .

I don't know why I quit drawing

it does provide much enjoyment.

This is "sharpie art" that I

did on my first guitar.

These two hearts and the photo

below this one, are hearts that I made

after seeing a tutorial on

Nana Diana's Blog,

Nana Diana Takes A Break

many years ago.

https://thenanadiana.blogspot.com/2017/01/i-heart-you-i-heard-you-heres-tutorial.html

A chair that I painted.

This post is so long . . .

I'm going to stop with some embroidery

and an apron made from

and old pair of jeans.

If you are still here

all that I can say is,

"Bless Your Heart!"

Thank you for following my blog

it has been a source of love and friendship

and you all hold a warm spot in my heart.

God bless you . . .

If you are blessed to still have your

Sweetheart near you

give him a huge hug  . . .

(or her . . . I do have two gentlemen

that follow my blog)

and then thank our Sweet Lord,

because you are blessed 💝

Your blogging sister,

Connie :)

P.S. Again, Happy Valentine's Day!
