A Quilt For Steve

Here's is a quilt that I finished for Steve, just two days before Christmas.

I embroidered pirates and anchors on it,
and chose greens and blues, his favorite colors.

Now, in the winter when he is cozy in front of the TV,
he can dream of sailing in the spring

when we put Gypsy Rose back in the water :)

Making the label.

Here it is finished and ready for cuddling under.
January and February are our coldest months,
so I know it will get plenty of use.

Oh, Butchy likes to cuddle under it, too :)

Have a lovely day,
&

Having A Great Holiday !

I thought that I
would share a few photos from our 4th of July.

We had a beautiful day for sailing :)

Ha, Ha, Ha, doesn't he look like a tuffy in that shirt :)

Do I look happy?

I love the refection in the wood.
Steve did a great job on those hatches.

This is her home for the summer.
It is only a ten minute drive from home :)

If you celebrate the 4th of July . . . I hope your holiday was great.
If you are from somewhere else in this big wide world,
well, I hope that your weekend is blessed with pure enjoyment.

Life is good.

Welcome To Our Back Porch

Come relax awhile with me on our back porch.

I've been fluffing it up for summer.

Did you notice that I'm in this photo.
Look in the mirror . . .
there I am with my camera.

This is one of my favorite projects this year.
I purchased this dresser mirror for $5.
Painted it white with crackle medium underneath.
Then I hung the frame that the mirror swiveled on upside-down on the wall
with the mirror setting on what should be it's bottom.
Next I added the little shelf  (after painting it white) that I purchased for 50 cents at another yard sale.
Can you see the silver that is worn off the back of the mirror?
The candlelight makes it sparkle.
I love this piece :)

This is a croquet set that I purchased at Wal-Mart
in a plastic zipper bag.
A few years ago when my brother was visiting,
he and Steve were out in the shop tinkering around,
when I went out with a sketch
and asked them to build me this stand.
You can't see the wheels in this photo,
but it has wooden wheels and can be rolled out to the yard.

These paper lanterns have fairy lights stuffed in them,
and they look so pretty at night.
I purchased them at the dollar store,
and used white fairy lights from our Christmas tree.

I can't take a photo shoot of my back porch
 without including my vintage fridge.
love that old fridge,
and it is always filled with drinks and watermelon in the summer :)

Can you guess what this is?
If you guessed Gypsy Rose . . . You are right!

Go visit Steve's Blog at:

We are almost ready for launch day :)

Stay happy and please leave a comment and let me know you were here.

Gypsy Rose's Cabin Re-do

This is her cabin.  it is small . . .
no galley, no head . . .
just room enough for two to sleep comfortably,
and space for storage.

This is another view facing the stern.
I have added two lanterns (one on each side)with those battery candles.
I like that they will provide enough light for maneuvering around the cabin at night,
and provide a romantic ambiance.
A boat named Gypsy Rose demands a romantic flare:)

Here's a close-up of one of the stern cabin lanterns.

These three (also out-fitted with battery candles) are going up front in the bow.

This was an anniversary present from our daughter for our 25th wedding anniversary.
It, the boat hook and captains log are the only things that we kept
from our larger sail boat "Wazapan", before selling her.

This is our cozy bed.
I didn't want to go over board with too much fu-fu,
but I wanted rich colors and lots of soft comfy pillows :)
She had to have a bed fit for a gypsy, right?

Notice the three smaller lanterns hanging from the ceiling.
We'll take our Kindels for reading and they have built-in lights,
so as you can see we are doing a little bit every week
to get her ready for sailing in June.

Another shot:)
If you have never slept aboard a boat at anchor . . .
Let me tell you it is like being rocked to sleep in a cradle.
It's wonderful.

I wanted to show you the rugs that I found for her, too.
Perfect, right?

Do you remember how terrible the hatch covers looked with their peeling veneer.
Well, visit Steve and see what he has done with them.
It will amaze you!
They went from crap to awesome.

Here's wishing you all a week filled with sunshine, inside and out :)

Pillows For Gypsy Rose

Hello everyone . . . I do hope that you are having a wonderful day
and that every moment is a happy one.

Today I thought that I would post these two pillows
that I made for the cabin of Gypsy Rose.

It was a fun project using art from
The Graphics Fairy:
http://graphicsfairy.blogspot.com/

First I copied the art into Publisher,
then inverted it and printed it onto transfer paper.

Next I ironed it onto fabric that I used to make my pillows.

I think that they will be perfect.
I don’t want to go “overboard” (play on boat terms)
with a gypsy theme, but I did want a little vintage gypsy added to the interior.

What do you think?
I cannot wait to have the interior done and show you
the finished cabin.

Also this week I received this amazing package in the mail from Meri Wiley
http://imagimeris.blogspot.com/
I was her 400th follower and she blessed me with this

And these . . . they are postcards.  I haven’t quite decided what I am going to do
with them, but I have a lot of ideas going through my head.
I am thinking that they might even make a great signature card,
that I can use to end each post with
see what you think.

Well, I am leaving Steve and Butchy for a few days
and heading to Oregon to visit our daughter and granddaughters.
I’ll catch up with you all when I get back . . .
unless I have some time to blog while I’m there.
Have a wonderful weekend and see you all soon.
