Another DIY

Here I am again doing a DIY

and hunting through

Steve's scrap wood :)

I looked on Amazon for grow lights

to start seedlings.

I could purchase two lights

for $19.99

or

one light on a stand

for $42.29

Can you believe that I was

able to squirt enough paint

out of that same bottle

that I painted the cabinet with

to paint this stand :)

๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ…๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒฑ

Well, my thrifty decision

was to purchase two lights

and build a stand

that holds both lights

instead of purchasing

one that holds one light

for twice the price.

Now all I have to do

is go to town and buy

some soil to fill

my starter pots.

Seeds I already have.

๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ…๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒฑ

It's suppose to get down to

9 degrees the next three days.

Burrrrrrrrrrrrrrr . . .

that's stay inside weather :)

๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ…๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒฑ

Can't believe I'm thinking

about spring planting

when it's this cold outside.

Stay warm dear friends,

My New DIY Ironing Station

Last Saturday a warm day

snuck in-between

all of our cold weather.

I used it

to go out to Steve's shop

and scavenger wood to create

a new ironing station.

This is what I had before.

I was bound and determined

to not buy anything

only using materials I could find

here at home and in Steve's shop.

This was all the paint

that I could find.

I ended up watering it down

to make it work.

Here it is finished.

And here it is complete
with baskets and containers
that I already had.
It's going to make
my small sewing room
so much more efficient.
And it didn't
cost me a single penny.

๐Ÿงต๐Ÿชก๐Ÿงต๐Ÿชก๐Ÿงต๐Ÿชก๐Ÿงต๐Ÿชก๐Ÿงต

You may have noticed

that I have wheels on one side

and not on the other.

I saw a cart on Amazon

made this way.

It kept me from having

to put locking wheels on one side,

which I couldn't find anyway.

I needed handles to make it

easier to lift it up

and

wheel it around.

I couldn't find any old handles

in the shop

but I did find these two coat hooks.

I just installed them upside down

so that I could put my hands under

 them and lift.

It works great !

I'm really happy with the results

and the fact that in helping Steve

with his projects through the years,

I truly learned a lot.

I'm not a carpenter

but I do have the ability

to build rough projects.

 ๐Ÿงต๐Ÿชก๐Ÿงต๐Ÿชก๐Ÿงต๐Ÿชก๐Ÿงต๐Ÿชก๐Ÿงต

That's it for this post.

Thank you for stopping by.

Never get in a rut

and think you're not capable

of doing something

Before you first give it a try:)

God bless you all

Sewing Extension On The Cheap

Latest Project

Spending . . .

Pennies instead of Dollars

If you sew, you may have seen

these wonderful extensions

that you can purchase to

custom fit your sewing machine.

One of my best friends just

purchased one for around $300.

Those of you that know me

also know that I'm cheap.

Therefore; my thought was

why can't I build my own?

Not only did I not buy lumber

(all came from Steve's old scrape pile)

this wood was saved from an

old unwanted bookshelf.

After I made it,

I covered it with Pioneer Woman

brand contact paper.

That was my only cost in

this project.

 $6.97 at Walmart

I have never done a

contact paper project

without a gummed up mess.

I guess it's not my favorite

thing to work with, but it does

have some very good functions.

In this case it's nice and smooth

so that the fabric glides easily over it.

"And it's pretty" ๐Ÿ˜Š

I hope this inspires you to

try a new project.

Especially if it saves

you some money :)

~~~๐ŸŒผ๐Ÿ€๐ŸŒผ~~~
Have a wonderful week
and remember to put
God first.
Enjoying The Month Of May
Welcome Dear Friends
Like the sign says,
Ring The Bell
if there is no answer
Pull Weeds.
It's May and we have
plenty of weeds to pull.
Good Weeds & Bad Weeds
but it's all a matter of your
opinion.
Do you know how many beneficial
vitamins are in dandelions?
I've been researching on YouTube
and this "weed" is amazing.
 So; I made my first batch of
dandelion tea.
They said it was bitter so I added
a mint tea bag to the mix.
 I planned on drinking it
like ice tea, but didn't
like the taste.
I'm going to try again with
only the yellow of the flowers
and make it hot with honey.
They also said that it doesn't
mix with all medications,
so do your own research,
before trying
The next few photos are
of an old shepherd's wagon.
I have a dear friend that
restored it.
It was a mess when he got it.
I wish that I would have
taken a before photo.
Here you can see the place where
the mattress would go.
Under it is a pull out table,
drawers and cabinets.
Notice the wood band that makes
an "upside-down U shape"
that forms the top.
He had to boil that wood in long
pots of water in order to
shape them into the bands.
This man and his sweet wife are amazing.
I'm blessed with such sweet friends.
It even has an old wood stove for cooking.
At the back there is more storage.
The wheels had to be
replaced so that they were
highway safe.
Wouldn't you just love to
pull into a campground
with this as your camper ๐Ÿ˜Š
Here are the original wheels.
Beulah and I are spending a lot
of time outside enjoying the
lovely Spring weather.
Suzie Scarecrow got
a new bonnet this year.
The garden is all planted
and now we get to watch
it sprout and start growing.
I did pick rhubarb
and put enough for two pies
in the freezer :)
 Life is good,
we have so much
to be thankful for.
Spring brings with it a lot
of hard work, but after
being inside most of
the winter, it feels so
good to get outside and get
our hands dirty.
Beulah's feet dirty
(as you can tell by the photo, LOL)
Until our next post . . .
we pray that you will be well
and that you take a little time
to be still, relax, look around you
&
enjoy all your blessings.
 God bless you,
Your blogging sister,
Connie :)
Tree Cutting and Chain Saws
The Work Begins!
I purchased a small 8inch blade
chain saw on a long extension pole
to see if I could get the apricot tree
branches out of the electric wires
on the well house.
One thing lead to another
until this old gal kept cutting
away for three long days.
One lesson that I learned was
that even if the chainsaw is
lightweight, when extended out
ten feet it is no longer
lightweight.
Believe me!!!
After getting them out of the wires
they looks lopsided, so I kept cutting.
Here are the apricot trees with
one last limb to cut.
And here they are finished.
Dear friends, my much wiser hindsight
suggestion is to have your husband
do this kind of work.
I was bruised and in pain for
a week after.
I thought that I had fractured a rib,
but just muscle strain and bruising.
None the less very painful.
Of-course I didn't stop there.
After the two apricot trees
I started in on the lower branches
of the pine trees.
I worked for three days.
about 6 hours the first day
and 8 to 9 the next two days.
Now mind you, the pain didn't start
until a day or two after the work
was done. Hallelujah for that
or I would have never finished.
For you with FitBits . . .
first day . . . 19,340 steps
second day . . . 17,941 steps
Third day . . . 23,893 steps
There are weeks
when I don't have 35,000 steps total.
 Lots of work and lots of wood
and the purchase of a second small
handheld chainsaw to cut the wood
up into firewood.
 This is a photo taken when
cleaning the blade.
Once the blade jamed and came off.
I then learned to fix that problem :)
After 15 trailer loads of brush,
I started cutting firewood.
This pile is all cut . . .
And all of the long horizontal limbs stacked
above the old wood pile, plus the ones
leaning over it and the two on the ground,
will probably be there this spring
waiting to be cut.
Well, dear friends . . .
I'm over the worst of the recuperating pain
and feeling much better,
but not ready to cut any more tree branches
for a long time, LOL
I'll say good night . . .
and wish you all a blessed
and wonderful day tomorrow.
Your blogging sister,
Connie :)
