November Days

WHOOOOO!
Among you are enjoying the change in the season?

Just A Warning!
This is a very long post,
you might want a "cuppa" to get through it :)

I was walking around the yard
noticing all the changes that our
Autumn season brings.

Everything is going to seed and
getting ready for a long winter's sleep.

These were beautiful green leafy vines
last summer . . .
but there is a beauty in each season,
don't you think so?

I was truly surprised when I spied this
lonely little dandelion blooming next to the house.

I love the strength and determination of
the dandelion.
They are not noted among the loveliness of flowers
and yet if you look very close,
they are amazing.
You just have to take the time to look
closely into the depths of their bloom.

Do you remember my huge pumpkin?

I did not plant it, but was gifted it
by either the birds or the compost pile.

Jack Frost turned it soft,
so I dug into it and scraped out the seeds.

I'm hoping to dry them well and
have seed to plant next Spring.
 Watch my blog ...
I'll have more than I can use.
If you have garden space and would like
some, I'll have some packs to give a way
next Spring :)

Do you remember my Daisy Chain Quilt?

I'm working in the house now, not the Art Barn . . .
to be closer to my sweet Steve.

So, to create more working space I
moved our little dining table into the kitchen.

And because when Steve built our kitchen island,
he put it on wheels,
it was easy to roll it into
the dinning end of the living room.

It made a very good place for sandwiching
the back, batting and quilt top.

After getting it all basted together . . .

I was ready to start quilting :)

So that is where I'm at with it . . .
sitting here watching
"You Tube" cooking programs
and quilting my heart out.

If you stayed with me this long
thank you.
I know it was a long post.
The longest I have ever made.

God bless you all.

Gifts & Give-A-Ways

Okay . . . don't get jealous just be happy for me.
Look at the lovely gift
that I received this week in the mail.
This adorable little felted pouch was made
by
Carol Cook
of
Art and Sand

And this was inside!
She did a post on her bathroom
remodel
and I mentioned how much I loved
her bathroom sign.
Later that day I got an email
saying that she had one that she took off
and that it would be in the mail
heading my way soon :)

That's what I call having a big heart.
If you don't know Carol's Blog . . .
then you are missing out.

Here is a link to find her:

Here's a question for you.
Do you know Jo?

No?

Let me introduce you :)

I made two banners this week.
This one for a thank you gift. . .

And this one for a Give-A-Way :)

If you would like to see how I did this:
1. I sandwiched quilt batting between
two pieces of drop-cloth fabric.

2. Made a star pattern in the size I wanted.

3. Carefully cut around them.

4. Then stitched around them
leaving raw edges.

5. Next I stenciled on the letters.

6. After they were dry I sewed them to
ribbon or torn drop-cloth.

If you would like a chance to win this.
All you have to do is:
1. Be a follower of my blog.
2. Leave a comment.

I will draw a name and announce it on
Thursday, Nov 1st.

Thanks for visiting me today
and have a lovely day.

Keep Smiling!

Your blogging sister,
Connie :)

A Finished Afghan & A Give-A-Way Winner

While doing the Give-A-Way
I have spent less time blogging
and more time stitching:)
I finished all of my blocks . . .
 Eighty to be exact.
This photo is about half of them.

I decided to finish it off
with a scalloped boarder.

It feels so good to actually be
completing some projects
this early in the year.

Now what you all came for,
Drum-roll please . . .
The winner of my $25 Amazon Give-A-Way is:

Henny Penny
(I don't know her real name)
of
Henny Penny Lane
http://hennypennylane.blogspot.com

If you have never visited her blog,
take my word for it . . . you will love her.
She has a heart of gold and she
shares her love with her husband and
all of her wonderful animals.

I wish that every one of you
could be a winner,
but I'm afraid that would blow
by budget big time.
Thank you all for entering . . .
I'll be doing this again one of these days.

Keep Smiling!

Connie :)

Give-A-Way

What all my followers know about me
is that I love blogging.
It has been that sisterhood of everyday friends
that I lost when I retired.
There are times when retirement
can seem a little lonely.
 Steve's still working
and although I get out a lot with friends,
 there are stretches of days
when my blogging sisters
are my only daytime companions.
Well, except for my little mutt Butchy. :)
He is a lot of company.
I feel blessed to have this blog
and all my lovely sisters.
That is why I am celebrating my 6 years
of blogging with this Give-A-Way.
Hold on . . .
enjoy the photos of some of my banner making,
as I tell you about the Give-A-Way and how to enter.

I also love the way blogging sisters come together
from every corner of the globe
to help each other and to share their lives.

I've found that it doesn't matter if you are
in the States, the UK, Norway, Australia,
 Chili, or Africa . . .
we all share a bond of sisterhood.
We all have similar interests,
we all love our families,
we all want to create a home
that is comfortable and pleasing.

Our similarities far
out number our differences.

And that makes me smile :)

I started this Give-A-way last week.
but if you leave another comment here . . .
you'll have your name in the hat twice.

All you have to do to enter is:

Be a follower on
 "My Delightful Follower's List"
(you can find it just under my profile in the sidebar)
&

gift certificate to shop at Amazon.com.
