Just thought that I would post
a few of my paintings.
a few of my paintings.
I have not painted for a while due to an injury to my right hand, but just lately I have started back and I'm so enjoying the process. It's a huge part of my life that has been missing in the last four years.
I still cannot make a fist with my right hand and never will get it fully back, but I finally got enough strength to hold a brush firmly again. This was one of life's lemons . . . and I'm ready to start making some lemonade again. I need to give thanks to the Lord and to the great physical therapists that He lead me to. They worked with me for a year and then sent me home with exercises that I have continued. We can not stop, believing in our dreams and we can not stop living them out to the best of our ability. My husband always believed that I would start painting again, but I have to admit that I was skeptical.
This painting was selected for the cover of
The Columbia Basin Allied Arts
yearly catalog 2002-2003
(it was my first published work, other than newspaper write-ups).
This one is my tribute to the strength of America
(40X30 canvas) the last painting before my injury.
"American Pride"
"American Pride"
These are some of my past paintings.
I hope you like them.
Oh I'm so glad you posted these beautiful paintings - they are gorgeous!!!

Thank you, I am glad that your like them. These were all done before my right hand injury, but I have started back painting and so glad that I can still control the brushes. Your lovely comment is greatly appreciated.
DeleteConnie, thank you for visiting my blog today. I wish you the best of luck with your paintings and your injured hand. I've only had carpal tunnel from time-to-time and have always wondered what I would do if I couldn't paint. Thank the Good Lord. Broken bones in my foot and knee and left hand and breast cancer have been the worst. And the breast cancer wasn't even the worst thing that ever happened to me. Keep the spirit you are showing! God bless you!

Diane, thank you for the visit. Life is full of misfortunes, but we that grow, while walking through them are the blessed. I have learned more in life and in faith because of the hard times. It's not fun, but it's worth it. God uses all things for good to those who love Him. Have an incredible day. Come back again, and I hope you decide to follow. Your newest follower, Connie
DeleteI love your beautiful paintings. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you. I thought that I might not paint or play guitar again, but yes now I'm starting to paint again and although I will never be great on the guitar (all I have that moves at every joint) is my pointer finger, but I can strum a pretty good tune. Life goes on and we make the most of it. Have a great day, thanks for the visit. Connie.

It's hard to put into words, how good it feels to be painting. I had my fears that I would never have enough control in my right hand again to ever get back to painting. God is good!

ReplyDeleteHi Nella, I just got back from viewing your latest post. I love the green china and the depression glass is wonderful. It brings back childhood memories of my mother's table when I was very young. Who knows what became of her dishes? I do hope they found a loving home. I have one small depression glass sugar bowl that I picked up at some secondhand store and I use it as a small candy dish, to hold hard sugar free candy, on my desk. Have a wonderful time in Florida and watch out for the alligators! Your new blogging friend, Connie
DeleteWow connie these paintings are truly stunning, I so hope you can gain some mobility in your hand.

Caroline, thank you for the sweet comment and the good wishes. I will never stopping following any of my dreams . . . but I know that I am exactly where God wants me to be and that I learn and grow each and everyday. What's the say? "Grow where you are planted". That's me . . . sometimes the best thing for a little flower is a good shovel full of manure. I'm thriving each and every day. Wishing you a great day, your blogging friend, Connie

Ana, thank you for stopping by and thank you for deciding to become a follower. This blog has been a blessing, in the fact that I have met so many warm and friendly creative souls. Getting a compliment on my work from other artists mean a lot. Thank you again. My welcome mat is always out, so come back . . . I know I'll be visiting your lovely blog, many, many times again. Connie
DeleteConnie, your paintings are wonderful. I am so glad that you have been able to take your love of painting back up again. Hopefully, the inability to paint for awhile was just a bump in the road, a time to allow you to gather your creative processes. You definitely have a God given talent.
ReplyDeleteLaura
Thank you for your sweet comment. I've found that I'm out of practice . . . there is a true value in painting often, because with each painting you learn a little bit more about your medium. You know what they say about "use it or lose it". Well, getting back on the horse has it's trials, but with the good Lord's help, I can be back to my old self in no time. Thanks for your visit and please come back . . . I wish there were some way I could put out tea and cookies for my visitors, I so appreciate each and every new friend. Connie
DeleteWow..wow..wow.. Your work is amazing!
ReplyDeleteLove it ♥

DeleteHey Connie, four years is a long time to be away from your painting......there must be loads of paintings waiting to be put onto canvas after all that time.
ReplyDeleteYour talent is amazing, I do envy people who can paint. I have had a go and am very hit and miss more on the miss side actually, hehe.......
So glad to read things are improving with the movement in your hand and no doubt will continue to do so....what a wonderful blessing.

Hi Claire, Thank you for stopping in. I love company. The fact is I'm pretty rusty after not painting for four years, but it is a passion of mine, so I will never give up. My dear husband has always had faith in me getting back at it, and with him cheering me on, how can I miss. Do come visit again, my door is always open. Connie
