My New $1.99 Spring Jeans

The other day I was out for the afternoon doing one of my favorite things.  I was thrift store shopping.  When you go to these stores, as we all know, you have to have an open mind.  You rarely find exactly what you're looking for, but instead you find all sorts of things that you could (maybe) use, but sometimes they need a little tweaking, or you just want to put your mark on them.  Well I was in the dressing room trying on jeans when over the loud speaker came this, "Everything with a green tag is 50% off today".

It just happened that the pair of jeans that I was trying on had a green tag.
They were a little bit too long and marked
at 3.99.  Well, for 1.99 I figured
I could use them as a project
and maybe come up with a feminine pair
of jeans to wear on a day
that I felt just a little bit more
like having fun.

Big decision, what buttons to use?

So with the help of a few buttons, some cotton lace and a couple iron-on appliqués this is my pair of 1.99 spring jeans.

I think they will be fun to wear to
an afternoon barbecue with a pair of Keds
or flip flops
and a cute tee shirt.
What do you think?

Have fun thirfting . . . I sure did!

    1. I'm so glad that you dropped in for a visit, and thank you. I just think they will be a little more feminine for those days when you want the comfort of jeans, but also want to feel "girly". Is that a word?

    1. Hi Jade, Thanks for the visit and for the lovely comments about my blog. Your art is delightful and talk about fun I love your "Whimsical Winged Girls". Plus, any girl that loves red shoes is okay with me. This week I'm out of state, visiting with my daughter and granddaughters. It's the week of spring break so it's a fun time to be a grandma, we are going on adventures each and everyday. I'm so worn out by the end of each day that even though I'm sleeping in a different bed than my own I'm dead the minute my head hits the pillow. I guess that's why we have children in your early adult years. Well, I'm sitting in the public library using their computer while the girls are picking out books for me to read. So, have a great week, your new blogging friend, Connie

    1. Hi, I'm so glad that you found my blog. The scarecrow was fun for the baby shower. After the shower I took the ball out from under her shirt and replaced the straw hat with a cowboy hat. We have an outdoor barbecue kitchen with a western cowboy theme, so she fit in as a cowgirl for the rest of the summer. I love your corrugated cardboard bunnies. What a delightful idea. A few years ago I purchased a huge roll of corrugated cardboard (so big I had to get someone to help me load it in the car) for $4 at a yard sale, so I'm always looking for cute ideas with this paper. Thanks for visiting and do come back. My welcome mat is always out. Your newest follower, Connie :)

  10. Wow Connie! Those jeans have gone from thrift to designer in the blink of an eye. Well done!
Many thanks for your visit and kind remarks. The blue and white dish was my mum's, I have another smaller one. They are a little cracked, but great for planting bulbs in. Have a great weekend, love Linda x

    1. Linda, Thanks for the sweet visit. I'm glad you like the jeans.

As for your Mom's dishes, I think that it is especially wonderful that when beautiful dishes get cracked or chipped they also get re-purposed as planters, art supply holders, mosaic tiles and all other things that creative minds imagine. Love your blog! Connie :)

    1. Nella, glad you like the jeans . . . very simple, very cheap project. I think they will be fun as soon as our weather gets warm enough to not require a coat.
I'm still thinking about the beautiful potholders that your Mom crocheted. You just can not find lovely detail like that anymore. I'm sure you count them among your treasures.
Thanks for the sweet visit. Connie :)

A good pair of jeans from the thrift store already have that wore in and comfortable softness that only comes from many washings. Thanks for the sweet visit, come again, I love company. Connie :)

    1. Shopped my first garage sale of the year Saturday. I got a beauty rose pattern hat box (good for storage) a pretty white metal box (also storage in my studio) and the cutest little wooden cabinet where I'm now storing my paper tags. All this for $5 not bad. Wish you lived closer, I'd love having a garage sale buddy. Connie :)
