Last night while watching TV
I drew this page in my journal.
I used a fine point sharpie and colored pencils.
It was very relaxing . . .
I missed a little of the programs, but I was exactly where I wanted to be.
Enjoyed an evening with my sweetheart;
while creating something fun.
Then today after planting peas and fertilizing the lawn,
I decided it was time to
start my
"2012 Garden Journal".
I cut this cute little girl from a tiny Mary Engelbreit book. |
Most of you probably already know this little stenciling technique for grass,
but for those of you that have never
tried it . . . it's lots of fun.
First cut a sheet of card stock with
jagged grass blades.
The negative (cut out section)
will be the positive (grass) when you're done.
Second, place the card stock above
where you want your grass and drag a tissue
or cotton ball filled with colored chalk down from the card stock onto your work surface.
Ink from ink pads and a sponge work
very well, too.
It's just a simple little thing, but it does make soft and lovely grass.
Tear paper and try making a mountain range
the same way, or cut uneven scallops
and try a cloudy sky.
I haven't done this in so many years,
but sometimes it's just nice to go back to
an old friendly technique.
Thank you for visiting
and if you would like to leave a comment;
I would love to hear from you.
I promise to read and answer
each and every lovely note.
Have a great week!

HAVE A GREAT WEEK
. . . KEEP CREATEING . . .
AND
KEEP BLOGGING.
Thank you for this, such a good idea and I must try. Suzy x

DeleteHi, Connie!!!
ReplyDeleteYou just reminded me I have to start GARDENING??
Spring is taking a while to come over here in Vancouver
and I have nothing going on... hydrangeas are starting to show some leaves...
Roses, too...
But i have not planted anything!
Off I go to buy some plants tomorrow! It took a while to clean and put bark mulch in front of my house. Now we have do start making little plots here and there, to make the front more colorful!
Hi Claudine, I hope you are having a great day, planting and adding color to your yard. Spring has a way of getting our gardening mojo flowing. The trunk that you just posted . . . oh my, what a transformation. You certainly took it from tacky to drop dead gorgeous. Thanks for stopping in; I adore company. Connie :)
Deletewhat a neat trick, I never would have thought of it. I love the effect! thanks for sharing it.
ReplyDeleteHi Lisa, I was a little bit hesitant to share this technique, figuring everyone had tried it years ago, but if we never saw it before , then it's new. I even learn new tricks watching my granddaughters, sometimes the simplest little thing can make a totally different effect on a piece. Someone should post "a new trick a day" . . . I would certainly follow that blog. Thanks for the sweet visit, and do come again. Connie :)

Whether it is a dinner party or a potluck I want my friends to feel special and I believe there are three things to remember when having company.
Delete* Good Food
* Good Conversation
* And A Charming Table (I like a little WOW factor here)
I'm looking forward to going through all of your archives.
Have a day filled to the rim with happiness, Connie :)
Connie thank-you for dropping by my blog and leaving me an invite to come visit. You made my day in more ways than two ! I have enjoyed a quick little poke around during lunch. I am struggling with my ATCs for a group I am in, which are rather late too. Having a art technique block, you have, with your grass, reminded me of this process which is perfect for what I want to do. Thank-you so much. Keep on blogging.
ReplyDeleteIt thrills me that I did something here that helped you in some way. That is what sharing is all about. Hope you got your ATCs finished, I'm sure they are fantastic. Thank you for this sweet visit, Connie :)

ReplyDeleteJust visited your blog. Sent you a thank you comment and ended up publishing it twice. Then had to comment again to apologize for my stupidity . . . I do not know why every time I think I have this blogging stuff all figured out . . I do something so wrong, and I never know what I did. If there is a perfect award for me it would be called the "crazy old lady award". Allie, this is a honor and I truly appreciate your kindness and your sweet gesture. Connie :)
Deleteboy, did I have fun perusing your blog! You are a very talented lady, and so is your hubby.
ReplyDeleteJust became one of your followers. I also want to thank you for your very kind comment on my blog. Evi
You are a sweetie pie . . . thank you for the praise, especially about my husband. He has just started a blog of his own, but it took an awful lot of persuading on my part to get him to do it. Have a great day, Connie :)

DeleteConnie,
DeleteWhat I ended up doing for the button was to save the photo onto my desktop and then added it into blogger that way. I was never able to "Find" the one that was clickable either. So I just saved the photo and then inserted into the side bar. I, too, am hoping to find the clickable one soon. When/If I do, I will let you know.
Have a great weekend. :0)

ReplyDeleteBlessings & hugs, Coleen
Hi Coleen, I love the fact that we can visit each other and see all the different styles of art. Even each of us have many style within us, depending on the mood we are in that day. It is like getting a big box of crayons, each color beautiful on it's own, but combined in different hues and patterns, beautiful again in a new way. I keeps life exciting, don't you think? Have a great week, Connie :)
