Happy 4th of July ~ Plus A Little Re-Purposing

I hope you are all having
a wonderful 4th of July.

 ***********
Some of you may remember the two twin beds that I purchased
at a yard sale a while back.
I made a bench with one that I have on my back porch .
This is the other one.
I needed a little more seating on our little front porch.
So, last Wednesday I went into Steve's woodworking shop
and was able to put this together without
one single penny out of pocket.
Steve had a lot of good sized pieces of wood in his scrap pile,
and I had almost a full quart of exterior white paint.

***********

I used my Circut cutter to make
a "Welcome" stencil.

   ***********

The last time Steve and I went somewhere
with our portable lawn-chairs,
the cover to his got destroyed
(we think with battery acid).
Anyway I have been having a ball
re-purposing from my bag of old jeans,
and decided I could figure out
a new carrier for my honey.
I made him this from the leg
of a pair of old bib overalls.
I even used the shoulder strap to
create a shoulder strap, LOL.
Still having a front and back pocket,
provides a place for keys, change, or maybe a hanky.

 ***********

This is what his old bag looked like.

***********

While I had the sewing machine going
and was in the mood to sew
I came up with this clothes-pin bag.

***********

And this market bag.
This pair had Cargo pockets
with Velcro closers.
I was able to put a pocket on both sides.

I hope that I am stirring up
your imagination,
and that you think twice before
throwing away another pair of old jeans.

***********

I feel very blessed to have so many lovely blogging friends.
I truly appreciate your stopping by to visit,
please leave a comment . . . I love hearing from you.

***********
You're always welcome here.

Have a beautiful day!

    1. Hi Cindy, I'm sorry that it took me so long to respond to your comment. I have been out of state all week . . . and without internet. I just got home and it might take me a day or two to get back into my normal groove. I'm happy that you were inspired with my projects. Hope you had a great 4th of July. Connie :)

    1. Our front porch is a tiny little porch, but I'm pretty proud of it, because I built it all by myself, one day while Steve was at work (about three years ago). You should have seen his face that evening when he got home. I sure surprised him, the next day when he went back to work, he was telling everyone what I did. Connie :)

  5. Connie, your porch is so AMERICANA and SWEET! All this talent you have with these denim blue jeans is AMAZING! I think your new nickname should be CONNIE JEAN! or CONNIE BLUE JEANS! LOL!LOL! You are making a profession out of this....your mind is in JEAN mode! Can't wait to see what you come up with next! From one sweetie to another...Roxie

    1. Hi Roxie, it is funny that you would give me the name Connie Jean. When my brother and sister-in-law married, she also had a little sister named Connie. When they married I was 3 years old and she was 5. We grew up always hearing our middle names, because that was the only way the family knew which Connie they were talking to, or about. I am Connie Rose and she is Connie Jean. Every time something arrives in the mail addressed to Connie Rose, I know it is family even before looking at the return address. I'm very happy that you liked my Jean Projects. Connie :)

I love that bench! You and your husband are so handy. The chair cover is so much nicer than the nylon one. I bet Steve loves it! Cute looking clothes pin holder and market bag.

    1. Hi Dee, I'm very happy that you like my bench. Our front yard is shady by 2:00 in the afternoon, so it's a nice place to sit outside and enjoy the neighborhood. I had a wonderful 4th of July, I spent it with my daughter and granddaughters. My daughter just got accepted into a three year nursing program, so she had to move to a new town. That is where I spent my holiday. Meeting her new neighbors and exploring her new town. Thank you for visiting, and please come again, Connie :)

  24. Hi Connie,

I tried to respond to your e-mail and you are a noreply, so it didn't go through. So that e-mail is out there in 'no reply' land! I'll do it here. OK - I created a new blog exactly how you said you were going to do it. Through Dashboard and New Blog. I'm not as computer literate as you think. I never thought about losing my old blog! But I didn't lose it, so I say give it a go and see what happens. I LOVE the idea of the guitar lessons blog, and it would sure help me with learning to play. I tried looking the new blog up through the help button and I see what you mean. Not much information. The one thing I did not do on my own was add the "House on Hilltop Farm" button on my sidebar. I had a computer literate friend help me add that. I hope it works out for you. I added you to my side bar on my blog. I love your creativity. I'm not giving any more denim away! And, did you see the aprons in this issue of Mary Jane's Farm magazine? LOVE THEM!

    1. Hi Cindy, thank you for all your help. I think that I will get on that sometime next week. I've been away all this week and you should see the weeds that have come up while I was away. My dear sweet Steve watered and kept everything alive, so I didn't loose any potted flowers in the heat~wave they had, but boy did the weeds grow. I use to subscribe to Mary Jane Farms, but not any more. Now that I'm blogging, I fine so much to read and gorgeous ideas on line, that I'm saving money on magazines. You have been such a wonderful help. Thank, thank you. thank you, you're a sweetheart. Connie :)
