Thread Bag

Now that I have been doing machine embroidery,
I find myself with threads everywhere.
So, I decided that my next project would be a little bag to collect my clippings,
instead of letting them all fall to the floor.

I wanted to incorporate free-hand machine embroidery into my bag,
so, this is what I did.
Thank you, Tim Holtz!
I used Tim's stamp to first stamp my fabric.
http://timholtz.com/blog/

Then I put on black embroidery thread and stitched over his design.
Next I added a little freehand writing and the heart.
Then I added a lining, and a little trim and a button.

Hopefully this will keep my floor clean :)

Here's a close up,

And here is where it will hang, ready to do its job :)

I hope you enjoyed this little project.
I guess it is easy to see that I'm having a good time with my sewing machine :)

Until my next post . . .
stay happy and enjoy each day :)

Please leave a comment,
I delight in reading them . . .

Your blogging sister,
Connie :)

  1. Hi Connie. That's such an excellent idea. I hate finishing a sewing project to find there's thread everywhere you look. Your bag has turned out beautifully.

    1. Thanks Patricia, My floor was getting pretty messy and then when I used the broom the threads would get tangles in the bristles and when I vacuumed they tangled around the brushes on my vac. Now, I just have to break the old habit of letting them fall to the floor , LOL

    1. Hi Ginny, you always have such good ideas. Right now my main concern is have a pretty and clean room to play in :) I do hope that you are having a wonderful day. I remember driving through the Ozarks with my parents when I was a child and how very beautiful in is in the Fall. I hope that your weather is nice and that your forests are a blaze with color :)

    1. Hello Ann, I know that as soon as I develop the habit of using it and not allowing all my threads to fall to the floor . . .that my little studio will be a happier place. I love walking into that room a seeing it all neat and pretty. It doesn't always happen that way, LOL

  13. Hi Connie,

Well aren't you somethin'! To think of stamping an image and stitch over it is wonderful!!!! I might be doing that -- maybe with some of my doodles.

    1. Hi Kay, I know, it was just a idea, but now I have been thinking of more and more things that I could do like this. My wheels are turning so fast that I have smoke coming out my ears. You know when your brain won't turn off and to lay awake at night thinking crafts and sewing, LOL.

  16. What a good idea, and so pretty. I haven't done any sewing in years, and am thinking of having another go. I have seen some vintage Vogue patterns for clothes I could wear to next year's Agatha Christie Festival (we nerds take it very seriously).
Thank you so much for stopping by my blog, and for your kind comment. - Tracey xo

So creative to use a stamp to embroider over :)
I have made one of these years ago, with a weighted pin cushion attached to help hold it in place on my desk :)
