A Quilt For Steve

Here's is a quilt that I finished for Steve, just two days before Christmas.

I embroidered pirates and anchors on it,
and chose greens and blues, his favorite colors.

Now, in the winter when he is cozy in front of the TV,
he can dream of sailing in the spring

when we put Gypsy Rose back in the water :)

Making the label.

Here it is finished and ready for cuddling under.
January and February are our coldest months,
so I know it will get plenty of use.

Oh, Butchy likes to cuddle under it, too :)

Have a lovely day,
&
Keep Smiling.

Your blogging sister,
Connie :)

  1. So beautiful! My mama always did quilts-the crazy kind. Not really, her's are special to me, but never with such detail. She did a few that I can't remember, something like flower basket?, Star?, Around the world?, but nothing appliqued. So pretty.

    1. It sounds like your mama was a true quilter. I've not tried any of the stars or any patterns for that matter. I've just been designing then in my head and going with my ideas to incorporate applique and embroidery :) I say as long as your having fun and enjoying the process, then keep doing it. Thanks so much for stopping by I love company :)

    1. Dear Sweet Louise, I feel for all of you back in the Midwest. The town that I grew up in was -52 degrees today. Wow. it's 37 here, a heat wave to your weather. Stay warm. You are in my prayers.

    1. Hi Ann, maybe this is the year that you have more time for sewing and getting into embroidery. I know you will be thrilled with how much fun you'll have. Thanks for your sweet compliment on the quilt. When I saw this design pack with the pirates, I just had to add them on there for my sailor, LOL

  9. Happy New Year! What a nice present you made Steve! I like that you dated and signed it. I think all quilts are works of art that deserved to be signed. All the best for 2014!

    1. Hi Jennifer, My sister-in-law gave me this book on labeling your quilts. When I made my daughter's I made a very small label, because I like the idea of being able to reverse them, too :) I can see that by chance a quilt lasts and gets passed on through the family, it would be very nice to know who made it and just how old it is :)
