New Work Surface

I had this dresser against the wall in my old bedroom studio,
but now it takes center stage.

Come in and see what's new . . .

This dresser was always been wonderful storage,
but now my sweet Steve added a new top to it.

It measures 38 X 58 inches
and gives me so much room for cutting fabric,
and spreading out projects.

The new top hangs over on one side
to make room to scoot a bench under.

I am loving it:)

This end was the perfect spot to add chalkboard paint.
I decorated the top with rubber stamps and sharpies
and then gave it 6 coats of varnish.

See the measuring tape that I added to the surface.

Also I added a 12 inch grid.
I think these will come in handy when working on projects.

The over-hang on the side gave me more room for storage.

I used up some old fabric and scraps to make curtains to hide my loft storage.

Sometimes I feel like I must be dreaming.
and like I need to be pinched, LOL.

I wish that I could invite you all over to play.

I've been having an extension cord for electricity
and having to be very careful.
But today we have an electrician coming to start the process
of installing power to my barn.

I can not wait!

Thanks for stopping by.

Please leave a comment, and Keep Smiling!

Your blogging sister,
Connie :)

P.S.  It's my Birthday!

    1. Hi Deb, thank you, both for the birthday wish and the kind words. I do feel very blessed with this new space to create. Once all the yard work is done and the frost comes, I'll have plenty of time to go out there and start a new quilt.

  10. Well, First off- Happy, Happy Birthday to you, Connie. You are a young 69!!!
I am so jealous of your BIG craft area. Wow! I am just moving my sewing out of the basement and above ground...but it is a very small area. Still, it will be so much better than being in the dark. I bet you will be glad to have the electric finally in there. It is going to be even MORE wonderful! xo Diana

  24. Happy belated birthday Connie! I just LOVE your creative space - it's like an Art Cottage! It's all so pretty, with the bunting and everything so neatly displayed. Your new unit is fabulous and I just love what you have done with the top - how clever and how cool is that? It will be great to work on, with the useful grid and measure, and all the lovely doodles and stamping! It's wonderful.

I laughed when you said that about pinching yourself because I am just the same! Last year we moved house and I now have a beautiful ARTHaven studio, fitted out to my own specifications and I still cannot believe how blessed I am to have it. You can see the development of it from start to finish here:

if you are interested in hopping over for a look!

Off to have a look at some of your work now. The Creative Blog Hop is such fun - introducing us to lots of new blogs - I think most artists are very nosey people and we all love to see what we are all getting up to!

    1. I know that I for one am very interested in seeing projects done by other creative women and then there is the bonus of seeing into their homes and their creative spaces. It's better than any magazine that I've ever purchased and at my door step fresh and new 24/7. What a wonderful thing . . . Blogging Is:)
