Potting Shed, Woodworking & Quilting

We did some more work on the
potting shed/greenhouse this week.
I thought you might like to see.
The planting tables are built.
See out the window at the stack of windows
that are still left  . . .
I wish one of you lived close enough
for me to gift you some,
so that you could build your own green house :)
 We used clear plastic corrugate
for the roof.
 It's coming along . . .
I can not wait until it is finished
and I can give you all a look at
our finished project.
I'm making some things for the inside wall.
After all we all want a pretty place
to work, right?
I made this chalk board to keep track
of the plants that I start.
I still need to distress it and get it hung.
I also spent sometime working on
Steve's Christmas quilt :)
I'm planing on making it a
"quilt as you go" reversible quilt.

 It's fun making this for him . . .
He loves Christmas :)
What have you been up to?
Keep Smiling!
Your blogging sister,
Connie :)

P.S. Steve and I went to the movies this afternoon
and saw "War Room", great movie!
Have any of you see it?

  2. Your potting shed is looking good, Connie! I love that hand you are painting and I'd love to see how/where you are going to use that. I'm sure Steve will love his quilt. I've got some gifts I'd like to make for Christmas this year and I think I should probably get started on them, too.

  3. I am so envious of your greenhouse! It's really coming along. I love how you made a pretty chalkboard to keep track of your plants. Is Steve's quilt a surprise?

    1. Hi Melanie, thanks for your sweet words of encouragement. Steve's quit is not a surprise, he asked me if I would make him one for Christmas. He has seen what I have made so far, but has decided that he wants the rest to be a surprise. Therefore; I won't be posting about it again, until after I give it to him. I hope to have it done by Thanksgiving and give it to him then, so that he can enjoy it through the holiday season :)

  5. Hi Connie, I wish I could say I have been up to half of what you are doing! This Lyme and now allergies on top of it just zaps me! Your potting shed is coming along so nice!! Love the wallboard you made for keeping track of your seeds. Will you use chalk to write in what you do? Love the star pattern for the one block on the quilt. Is that found anywhere on the internet or did you buy that particular one? Someday I want to try quilt as you go on the machine. Is what your doing Quilt as you Go from the Georgia Bonesteel book or is it the one where you add the strips and do it on the machine. I have done one like the ones in the Georgia Bonesteel book. How is the one coming that you had on your quilting frame? Nancy

    1. Hi Nancy, I finished the one on my frame, all but making a label. It is a gift so I probably won't post it again until I give it away. I am not familiar with Georgia Bonesteel, I will have to Google her. I learned the "quilt as you go" from watching a You Tube Video :) As for the seed planner board, it is painted with chalkboard paint, so yes I plan on using chalk, that way I can use it every year.
I'm sorry to hear that you are still not feeling well. You are in my prayers.

    1. Hi Louise, there is never a dull moment around here, LOL. It seems like there is never enough hours in a day to do everything that I would like to do and now the days are getting shorter. As the night comes earlier, I seem to get hire earlier, too. It's nothing in the winter time for me to be in my pajamas before 6 P.M. :)

  7. I love your greenhouse! I wish my husband would build one for us. We winter over our geraniums and begonias and I wonder if that would keep them warm enough. We put them downstairs next to a glass paned door. Can't wait to see it all done. We've been taking it easy this weekend after taking care of the boys all week. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

    1. Hi Teresa, I don't know about you, but when I'm around my granddaughters I tire out much sooner than my normal routine. That's not a complaint, I love spending time with them . . . they just let me know that I'm not the young woman I used to be. I guess that is why we have our children when we are young and full of energy. Now with that said about me, I haven't notice that in you . . . you are the goingest gal I have ever seen. I don't know what you do to have so much energy, but you could bottle it and sell it on late night TV :)

Of course, I am sure you are blessed to have him for a hubby too! I saw War Room and absolutely loved it. Such a powerful movie!!! One of my all time favorites. Felt like a church service up in the movie theater...lol! Loved it! Have a blessed and beautiful week my beautiful friend.

I think there are 3 time zones between us, maybe four:) Well, it is lovely reading your comment . . . it's like a sweet hug to start my day. That movie truly touched my heart and had me in tears and in smiles and laughter. It was a great message on the power of prayer. Here's wishing you a wonderful week filled to the brim with joy:)

  11. You have done so well with your greenhouse, Connie! I can't believe how far on it is. It's so beautiful! I am surprised you've got some windows left. You could always make cold frames out of them. Thank you for your visit and your lovely comnment - so glad you like my card, and could identify with the sentiment! I shall think of you dancing around the house like an idiot with the music turned up full!!! What a laugh. My friend is doing so well in hospital - the power of answered prayer!!!

Although I am having a lot of fun going through the process on creating and decorating.
Steve and I always enjoy working on projects together. Sometimes he comments on how he is surprised at some of the things that I can do on my own . . . it's only because I have been helping him and learning from everything he has taught me about building and using his tools. I enjoy the empowerment of being able to pick up a power tool and know what I'm doing :)

  15. That looks as tho' it will be a really sturdy, strong green house ~ better than one from a garden centre! And bespoke! Fast forward a few months and it will be bursting with baby plants and you will be busy, busy, busy (as if you were not already....;) )
The board is a great idea, and your quilt is going to be beautiful ~ it is so sweet that you are making your hubby a quilt.
I am packing all my crafty things away for now, while our move is coming up, but I will surely find good ideas aplenty here for when the next creative, outward phase kicks in.
    Blessings, Connie!

    1. Thanks so much for stopping by to visit. It sounds like you are very busy right now, too. We looked at the ready made greenhouses at the home improvement stores and the cheapest 7X7 started at $1,500 . . . so far we have a little bit over $600 into this one (8x8). Theirs was built out of untreated 1X2's and plastic and ours is treated 2X4's and recycled windows and some plastic (for the roof and we are using plastic on the vent windows. It will out last there version by 25 or 30 years. We believe in building things to last and saving money :)

    1. Good Morning Penny, thank you for returning my visit, I love making new blogging friends. This morning is getting off to a lovely start, as I opened my living room curtains I could see a small sliver of bright pink in the sky coming up behind my neighbor's row of pine trees, now the whole sky is bright pink. The paintings the Lord paints are amazing and I look forward each day to seeing what is new. Yesterday the same view was cloudy and the dry grass behind the trees glowed and almost looked misty. Autumn is a beautiful time of year. Thank you again for stopping by, my welcome mat is always out :)

  26. Hi Connie, Oh, how I wish I lived closer...would LOVE those windows! Ken and I were talking just the other day about collecting a few...I mentioned to him, I would love a greenhouse next to his back garage....but it would be a while if that were to happen. (Still have other projects that's more important) but anyway, I love your potting shed, greenhouse...!!! Plus, the black board you have made is sooo sweet and perfect for it! I can't wait to see it in full attire...seeds and all! Your quilt is beautiful....send some of that energy my way! And I also noticed your cornstalks...have you decorated with them yet? Would be too cute around your porch posts.. We are having beautiful weather these last couple of weeks...I love Fall...I pray it stays like this for a while. We could use a little rain here or there. Looking forward to seeing more of your greenhouse.....blessings~~~Roxie
