The Loft Is Finsihed & Ready :)

This post is going to be short on words
and long on photos.
The loft is finished!
I made these to cover some
transparent storage bins.
I decoupaged the fabric to the bins.
 The joke was on me,
after I was finished with the loft . . .
you can hardy see them anyway :)

At the very ends of the loft
I still had that pink scratchy insulation showing.
So I made these from plywood,
to reach into those tight corners and finish it.

This bookcase was a $5 find this summer.
It fit up there perfectly :)
Okay!   Let's go up . . .

From this . . .
To this :)

Our granddaughters are going to love it!

I know that when I was a kid,
I always dreamed of a tree house
or a club house . . .
I don't think kids have changed that much.
This will give them a cool hangout place
in Grandma's Art Barn.

I hope you like it, too :)

Keep Smiling,
Your blogging sister,
Connie :)

    1. Hi Lorrie, I do hope that it will also turn into a place for extra company to sleep. That is company that can sleep all night without needing to go to the bathroom. That ladder might be tricky if you are half asleep going down. That cuts out the senior group of friends, like myself, LOL.

    1. Well, they served the purpose of fitting into those tight edges up there in the loft. I couldn't have that insulation sticking out when my granddaughters were up there. It was okay before for storage boxes but not of children :)

  6. What a wonderful grandma to make a special place like that for your granddaughters! How often do you get to see them? Mine moved to Ohio and I only get to see them once a year. It still kills me. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

    1. Well, it's not much different here. They come visit about twice a year and we go visit them about the same. This last year they were only here for a quick overnight on their way to a wedding, but hopefully now that Autumn is finished with school and will be getting vacation time and some weeks with four days off . . . they will come more often. The problem is that they live a good 11 to 12 hour drive away now. At least when they come visit, it will be filled with lovely memories of grandma and grandpa's new place in the country. There is much more room here for kids to run and play than our old house in a tight community. That loft will be good to have when we have company, too. At least young enough company that they can sleep all night without a potty break, LOL. That leaves our generation out :)

    1. Hi Nancy, no there is no window up there. I was going to put a mirror up there to add more light and look more open, but when that shelf fit so well, it just seemed like it needed to be up there.

All the little details are so sweet and your granddaughters are going to absolutely love it. I had a pillow just like the tan colored one with fringe. I just recently took it to consignment. I had it for years...:) Get some rest after all the work you put into the loft! Have a blessed Friday and weekend.

    1. Hi Vicky, well I know that you have heard the saying, "no rest for the wicked". well, I must be bad, because there has been a lot of work going on around here. This weekend we will be winterizing the boat and motor-home and spreading gravel out back. All that gravel, dirt and rocks that we dug out for the slab are piled up where I had the corn planted. I want to get it spread while we have our brother-in-laws backhoe. I think it will be a good drain field to set planter boxes on. We also want to dig post holes with it and put in a gate. You can not believe how many people pull into our driveway . . . it's like they think it a public road or something. It isn't even long so I don't get it and it drives Steve bananas. Do you think we will ever get done with these projects? Oh, and winter is coming . . . so we need to hustle.

  21. How fun!

There is no way that the Coastal Commission would ever approve our turning our attic area into a room - we've already been informed! But, when/if I ever have grandchildren, I could still create a little nook in the attic.

    1. You are so sweet. They always enjoy visiting, crafting and sewing with grandma, but this will be a surprise. When I transformed the barn into the my studio, I just thought of using the lofts for storage. Then I realized that I had plenty of storage space with one loft, that's when I started thinking about doing this with the other :) I'm sure that they will love going up there with a good book and getting cozy :)

    1. I have to admit that I had a lot of fun transforming that loft. I did it all on the cheap, too. We are planning on selling our boat and I had bought new bedding for it . . . no one wants other peoples bedding, so out it came and into the loft. those little lanterns were also on the boat and the rugs were from our old house. They just didn't ready fit this house and I had them stored. I think that the girls are going to love it :) Thanks for stopping by to visit:)

  27. Connie, thanks for stopping by to say hello and introduce yourself! I love your loft! At first I thought you were on AirBnB! I've been on the hunt looking for some far away places to visit on a budget. AirBnB has some great getaways! Anyway, I enjoyed looking around your blog - you are so creative! Lucky granddaughters! 1. Hi Jodi, no I haven't opened my home to strangers . . . it sounds all well and good, but there are a few nuts out there. Maybe I watch too much Law & Order on TV, but it seems a little bit scary to me. My daughter has done it and feels good about her experiences, so good luck, I hope that your experience is nice like hers has been. This space is above my studio and will be used for family and close friends. I am happy that you like it.

    1. I think that they will love it. I remember some friends of my folks that lived in on a farm in Michigan. Us kids would all take a blanket and go up in the hay loft to sleep. It was wonderful . . . and has stuck in my memories for around 60 years :) Having a little spot that is just cozy, fun and different from home is something they will remember.
