Raspberries From The Garden.

Two years ago I planted three bare-root raspberry bushes.
And this year I had enough
to make a few jars of jam.

Don't let the jars fool you,
I saved the jars from purchased jam.
I usually fill them with buttons, and small crafting and sewing supplies.

Every time we eat from our garden,
I get excited . . .
I'm loving my new country life :)

Have a wonderful weekend.

Keep Smiling!

Your blogging sister,
Connie :)

    1. I don't have many, but it was a joy to pick my own and make this jam. Life has change for the better since making this move to the country.

  2. Your jam looks lovely! Our raspberries are just now coming on and ripening. I was able to pick a handful, along with some strawberries, and took them to the park where I met my DIL and grandsons. Oh they enjoyed snacking on them!

  3. You must be pleased Connie. The raspberries look lovely. Nothing like the taste of your own jam from your own home grown fruit.

    1. My husband said it was the absolute best jam he has ever eaten :) He's the kind of guy that I have notice through the years when he eats something that he truly enjoys, like apple pie, it is always the best that he has ever eaten, LOL. My man enjoys good food :)

  8. Raspberry jam is my favorite, but I've never had it home made. How wonderful to be able to enjoy the fruits of your labor - I bet it goes fast!

  9. Raspberry freezer jam is our all-time favorite. You get the most fresh raspberry flavor from freezer jam. Having a peanut butter and homemade raspberry freezer jam sandwich is one of the best things ever. Have a wonderful country weekend. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

    1. Sounds good! I planted three blackberry bushes this spring, they were nice sized plants and we will be getting some berries from them this year too. Blackberries are by favorite :)

  11. Ooh, I bet that jam is so delicious! I love berries and raspberries are my favorite. I just bought 8 pints of organic raspberries that were on sale for only 88 cents. I don't make jam, so I froze them. I'm not sure how raspberry bushes would do in my area. I tried blueberries once and they didn't make it.

    1. Wow! 88 cents is a great price. That's strange to me, because we had wild blueberries growing all around us in Michigan City, but then it could have to do with the sandy soil. We lived very close to the lake, so our home was in the dunes. I remember always picking blueberries in the woods around our house and Mom baking pies, Yum :)

    1. Thank you . . .I am amazed at the difference in homemade jam vs. store bought, but then there is a huge difference in most homemade items, especially food :)

    1. Yes, and the satisfied feeling you get when you are eating food that you grew yourself. This is all new to me and I'm loving it :)

  14. Your raspberry plants must love where they're planted because they sure are doing well. There no red jam as red as raspberry I think. Even cherry or strawberry don't come out quite as lovely a colour.

    1. I noticed that when I photographed them, that they were a deep bright red, but never thought about the difference. I guess I just thought it had to do with being homemade. I haven't planted strawberries, maybe I should think about it for a next years project.

  15. Hi Connie, Raspberries are my favorite of all berries. I planted my first Raspberry Shortcake raspberry bush in a pot on the deck this year. I just picked our first berries and they were so sweet and juicy I am definitely going to plant a couple of more. Your Jam looks wonderful, and I have no doubt, having been fresh picked, tastes doubly delicious. There is nothing more satisfying than preserving fruits and vegetables you have grown yourself.

    1. I am loving this country life and having the room to have a garden. Preserving is all new to me, too, but so satisfying :) I purchased "The Complete Idiot's Guide To Seed Saving & Starting", so there's still another thing that I want to learn. I like the idea of being as independent as possible for living off our little plot of land :) One thing that I read that was very interesting is that by saving seed from your garden, the plants adapt to your soil and weather conditions, and therefore the seeds become better suited to your area each year. It's like after a couple years you have seeds that are costume made for your garden. That blew my mind a little bit. Pretty interesting, right?

    1. This is my third garden ever . . . we moved to the country from a community where the houses were almost touching with tiny shady backyards, to an acre of sunny land. It feels like the Ponderous to us, LOL. I have been loving having a garden and each year it has been getting bigger. There is nothing as fresh as grocery shopping in the backyard :) Thanks for stopping by. I wish I had a cake baked and lemonade; we could sit on the front porch and talk gardening and kayaking :)
