Love In The Art Barn

 Valentine's Day is drawing near . . .
so I was looking around the
Art Barn for signs of romance.

Do you remember my sewing machine
light-box from my last post?

Well, I couldn't leave it alone . . .

So I added more paint & stickers :)

The weather here is still cold and icy,
but our lows are in the twenties
and our highs around 34 degrees.
That's much better than the negative numbers.

I keep making quilts
and will have another finished to show you very soon.

In the meanwhile stay warm and happy :)

Keep Smiling!

Your blogging sister,
Connie :)

    1. When you reach my age, you better start enjoying each and every healthy day you have. I am blessed and grateful :) I'm looking forward to Spring and doing my best to not fall on the ice . . . February is right around the corner and our days should start warming up a bit . . . I sure hope so :) For now I will just enjoy the cold and more time for sewing. Thanks again for your heart tutorial.

  3. Love your crafty space and all of the hearts and quilts. I took a tumble on the ice two weeks go and got a compression fracture in my back. No fun! I'm ready for spring.

    1. Oh Betsy, I am so sorry to hear this. You rest and get better. I have been chancing it each day getting out to my barn. . . slipping and sliding along, falling can be so bad. I'm adding you to my prayers.

  7. Hi Connie, I always enjoy my visits to Crafty Home Cottage! :-) I think I may have mentioned before that my wife wants to get into making quilts. She is still busy bringing home the bacon, so she doesn’t have time yet. However, when she does, I’ll bet she will want to be reviewing your blog posts to get a treasure trove of ideas! Thank you for sharing your crafts! And thank you for your kind comments on my blog. It is always a pleasure to hear from you! Have a fine weekend ahead!

    1. Hello John, I love seeing your face pop up in my comment list. My friend across the mountains . . . I'm sure that you are experiencing lots of rain while we sit here frozen in the ice. I am so looking forward to Spring. This has been the worst winter around here in many a year. Does your wife have many more years to work before she retires? I hope that she gets bit by the quilting bug like I did . . . it is very relaxing and you have a warm blanket when you're done, LOL.

  9. Pretty touches of romance spread about the Art Barn. I love the paint treatment on the light box, and that quilt stack is gorgeous! Hope your weather warms up a bit more soon. It's supposed to be in the thirties this weekend and I am dreading it. Stay safe and warm and have a lovely Friday and weekend.

    1. Hi Vicky, your smile always brightens up my comment list. Maybe it is because you are from the Sunshine State, because you always spread a little sunshine whenever you visit :) Our snow and ice is hanging in there, so i've just decided to enjoy it for it's good qualities . . . more time to sew, more time to read, more time to plan my spring garden . . . when the weather warms up and spring is here it will be work, work, work . . . starting with repairing our downed fence :) Life is good! I'll bet that you are making plans for that beautiful new front porch of yours:)

    1. Thanks! I wanted to show the cabinet after I added more paint, so the hearts were a little bonus . . . after all Valentine's Day will soon be here. We really don't do anything special . . . our love has become warm and comfortable; just being together is enough for us :)

  15. You have so many wonderful Valentine stuff, Connie. I just put a few things out myself and did a post about it, but then I did the Mary Tyler Moore post, so my Valentine post wasn't up for that long. The heart with the cherries is so cute, and I love all those stacked up quilts. Bundle up and stay warm. It's in the e 30's and 40's in the mornings here, very cold.

Blessings for these January days, Connie.

  16. All the hearts and pictures are pretty. I really like the Toile fabric with the banner. I have a small piece of the same fabric...too small to make anything but I keep it anyway.

  17. I'd say there's plenty of romance in your art barn! I have not dug out any of my Valentine decorations yet, since I'm still working on putting the house back together after the renovation work. I have it on my to-do list...so maybe it'll actually get done soon? ;-)

    1. Your renovation went so fast, I guess that's the difference between hiring professional and doing it yourself. We are pretty slow at projects because we are always learning as we go, LOL.

  18. So nice to have so much LOVE all around you! I loved seeing all of your hearts. I also see that you have a Mary Englebreit girl.. I love ME! She is so talented and such an artist! Are some of those hearts the ones you just posted about the other day? I want to make some... I also like your first heart with the pinked edges.. and your wreath, and your banner... etc. etc. etc.!!! Your pile of quilts looks so "love"-ly and your light box painting turned out so pretty. How fun to be surrounded with so much love in your Art Barn! Marilyn

    1. Some of those hearts are little stuffed pillow pincushions that I made a long time ago and others are ones that I have just made using Diana's tutorial. That Englebreit girl can from the Goodwill, years ago:) I love finding cute things like that . . . "Got to love the Goodwill"

    1. I'm working on two quilts at the same time right now, so one will be finished soon. Blame it on the cold weather . . . there is not much else to do and it keeps me for getting into the cookie jar, LOL. I can't eat and sew at the same time:)

  21. Connie, your 'heart banner' is just Adorbs!!!!
and I luv how you re-purposed the old sewing table into a 'light' table ... I have a plastic 'light box'... but it has a tendency to move when I sometime slightly bump it... Your idea is a great idea.
    Happy almost Feburary.

    1. Happy almost February to you too . . . it should bring us some warmer weather and I am all for that :) I will be happy to have all this mess melt away and see the earth again, LOL. Thanks for your sweet comments . . . I saw that sewing machine table and wished that I had a place to use it, but couldn't think of a good reason to purchase it. At the same time I have been thinking about building a light-box . . . then about a week later the "light came on in my head" . . . I was feeling very blessed when I called and they still had it in the store. I feel like I got a light-box and a piece of furniture with a bit of vintage class. I had to do a lot of rooming things around to make room for it, but where there's a will there's a way :)

  22. Lots of pretty hearts in your art barn, Connie. The verse from Romans is very fitting. Oh, that angel shelf is fabulous. Love that, and love what you did to your light box. I had a feeling you'd do something to it. Looks great! xo

    1. Hi Nancy, the first time I posted the light box I had only painted the top and the more I looked at it the more I thought it needed something more. Either that or I was bored, LOL. I do like the "BoHo" look, with lots of color and detail . . . at least for in the barn, not so much our home. I think it suits my creative and cluttered mind :)

    1. Good Morning Chasity, well, it is morning in my little corner of the world, LOL. I tried putting you on my favorites list but there is a glitch and it wouldn't recognize your web address. Don't worry, sometimes these things work themselves out. I'll try again later. I'm heading over now to be your first follwer, unless some other sweet blogger bet me to it. If for some reason you don't see me there . . . you might have to figure that out on your end. Sometimes it takes a while to jump through whatever hoops your blog has. I only know Blogger and blogspot so I can't really help with any other programs. I'm far from being a techie :)
      Have a sweet day!
      Connie :)
