this one has a Road Trip Theme.
I love re-purposing old jeans.
This week I started three
jean re-purposing projects,
today I'm showing my banner.
This is the center flag.
I think this would look wonderful
hung under the awning of a camper.
Well, this was fun . . .
you can make so many great things
with old jeans.
So don't throw them out,
just get creative:)
Keep Smiling!
Your blogging sister,
Connie :)
P.S. Doesn't it make you want to pack
a suitcase and gas up the car?
That is so cute! Love it :)
ReplyDeleteThank you :)
DeleteAMAZING banner Connie!
ReplyDeleteThank you, you're so sweet :)
DeleteLook at you! Your hair is long and pretty! That is such a good picture. Betcha my daughter Lynn will be commenting on you with that guitar. :) The banner is so cute! I've just got to try making a banner, one of these days.
ReplyDeleteMaking banners is a great way to use up scraps and they look kind of festive, don't you think?
DeleteCan you see all the silver in that hair . . . I gave up dyeing it years ago. My mother's was pure white and I always thought it was so pretty.
This is so cute! You have the BEST ideas. We're having snow right now and I'm so ready to jump in the car and head south...to Route 66!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
Swing by here and pick me up, I'll paid for half the gas and motel rooms, LOL. This winter is really getting me down . . . warm sunshine sounds wonderful . . . even a palm tree or two would be nice to see:)
DeleteThe it so cute, what a fun project! xx
ReplyDeleteThanks :)
DeleteConnie, I love this banner. All those cute little emblems. I one day hoped I would get to travel route 66 ...just for fun. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteI know it sounds like fun! My folks traveled it many times when I was a kid. The thing that I remembered most was a TeePee Motel somewhere in New Mexico. I wonder if it is still there?
DeleteYou come up with the most clever ideas. Love this
ReplyDeleteHi Ann, thank you :)
DeleteI want to join you ladies. I'm sick of snow and winter. I want palm trees and sand between my toes. LOL.
ReplyDeleteBring your guitar along, I love to hear you play and sing Connie.
Your banner is lovely. I have to make one.
Blessings, Thelma.
The more the merrier :) After all we are dreaming we may as well dream big. Maybe a little vintage trailer park on the ocean.
DeleteLove the banner! Gosh, I wish I could play the guitar.
ReplyDeleteGrace & Peace,
Pam
I love that you love it, thank you :)
DeleteAnother of your great projects. I liked seeing the latest photo of you with your guitar!
ReplyDeleteThank you, actually that was taken a couple years ago at an Old Time Fiddle's Christmas Party. I just thought it went with the "Blues" theme :)
DeleteHello Connie,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for stopping by my blog. I have enjoyed "meeting" you. Thank you for your kind words. They are so encouraging.
Your banners are so darling! And your quilting is beautiful! My mother-in-law was a quilter also. She did a lot of hers with the appliques. But my very favorite one that she made is the log cabin one that we have on our bed. It is old, but the colors are still vibrant and I love it!
Hi Dianna, welcome it is a pleasure to have you stop by. I have been making a few log cabin squares from my scraps . . . I thought that if I made one every now and then, one day next winter, I just might have a stack ready to put together for a quilt :)
DeleteWell, How cute are those? And that is a GREAT picture of Happy You!!!! I love it, Connie.
ReplyDeleteI can see those under the awning of a travel trailer, too...or on a den wall. It does make me want to gas up the car and go! xo Diana
I know, we keep getting more snow . . . it is snowing right now and it snowed all day yesterday. I am so ready for spring. It makes a road trip to warm weather sound amazing :)
DeleteHi Connie, Your Jean banner is so clever! I am starting to save my jean pieces for something. I love your picture too. I don't dye my hair either. Sometimes I think I would look better but than I look in the mirror and the face goes with the hair! LOL I think everyone is anxiously waiting for a little nicer weather. We just ordered me a cold frame! I don't know how much I can get to grow here but I do like to grow my leaf lettuce! Nancy
ReplyDeleteIt will be nice having fresh lettuce right outside your door. Spring is coming, but it's going to be much later getting here than last year, I'm afraid. Steve is six years my junior and about 5 years ago we went to his high school reunion. I thought that because I might be the oldest woman in the room I should dye my hair. I did and I hated it. Then when we got to the reunion almost every woman there was grey, LOL. Sometime we do things for the wrong reasons . . . I'll not make that mistake again. Besides I think that grey softens our look as we age and works in our favor.
DeleteI love it Connie and yes it does make you think of travel.
ReplyDeleteThanks . . . let's hit the road, LOL.
DeleteMy Shug and I are heading to Florida tomorrow! I can't wait. Except I'm a little afraid of the flying part, but don't tell anyone. They'll make fun of me! That "take the scenic route" reminds me of when I was a kid and traveling with my parents. We would always get lost...ALWAYS! Truth is, I think my Mom couldn't navigate! Anyway, Dad always said we take the scenic route when he drives! It's become a "joke" in our family. We know if someone says they took the scenic route, they got lost!!! you brought back such a very special memory. I'm tearing up. I think I need to take my parents on a vacation.
ReplyDeleteCindy
Hi Cindy, There used to be a TV show on the air back when Steve and I were first married. It was called Northwest Back Roads and it was a great show. Getting off the freeways and on to the two lane back-roads can be so refreshing. Whenever I travel alone I always pick a small town to stop at and walk around and stretch. It relaxes me mentally as well as physically :) Have fun in Florida . . . if you have time and think of it, write my name in the sand, so that I can be on the beach long enough for a wave to wash over me . . . oh that sounds relaxing, too :)
DeleteWhat a wonderful and fun banner! I have a tough time sending old jeans out the door to the goodwill, but did just that last year. I think I had saved about 30 pairs from the four members of this house. Always had these great ideas, but they never materialized. I have made some oversized log-cabin cushion covers ... one for my son's bed and one for the dog's ;)
ReplyDeleteWendy
You should Pinterest "recycled jeans" . . . there are so many great ideas. I'm going to add my banner to the mix. The fabric is so durable and making whimsical items with them is so much fun :) I'm delighted that you like my banner, Thank you :)
DeleteWhat a great idea.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much . . . and I see that you are my newest follower. Welcome to my blog, I hope that you feel at home here, I appreciate your encouragement :)
DeleteHI Connie, this is the cutest project ! Where did you find those darling old emblems for the motel, Route 66, etc.? You are so creative. We are looking forward to seeing more wonderful projects, especially from re-fashioned clothing like blue jeans. Totally adorable. :-) Warm wishes from Marina and Daryl Lynn
ReplyDeleteHello there! Thanks for visiting. I used Lesley Riley Transfer Artist Paper for ink jet. Have you used it? It's a little costlier than most brands, but it has never let me down. I found old vintage pictures on the internet. I'm glad you like the banner . . . they are so much fun to make. I have some hanging in my Art Barn, a small one in my kitchen window and several that I hang outside for backyard barbecues and for the Forth of July :)
DeleteI saved this post for a few days as I didn't have time to answer before..... just wanted to say how much I love your jean banner! I know I'm not the only one from the comments here! And those little vintage signs you found are darling. I need to go look around Pinterest for those. So MANY things I mean to do and just don't. I have to keep a list or I forget.. but then I have lists all over the place and forget to look at them! Love the pix of you... I wish we could hear you sing and play the guitar. I used to play when I was in high school.... and played the piano.. and still have my keyboard, but haven't played it forever and ever.. I need to learn it all over again unfortunately. I thought when we were retired, we would have enough time for all of these fun things!
ReplyDeleteAlso... I too am so ready for a road trip! I just dream and dream about having a tiny little trailer that I can pull with my car, which gets such great gas mileage.... really all I/we need is a bed! I dream of driving the North Cascades Highway as have never done it before.
I think I'll take a minute(?) and go search for recycled jeans on pinterest. I've seen little purses made from them, and the pocket kept intact for the outside.. and one gal did a darling stand-up frame bulletin board thing that was also cute. I can imagine there are hundreds on pinterest! You won't believe our temperature today! It's 55 degrees out and windy, so the windy is melting the snow really fast. We haven't had new snow for a few days thank goodness and I can actually SEE the grass, the pavement and the dirt and I may just go for a walk today! Have a good Sunday.... xoxoo Marilyn
Hi Marilyn, it has been snowing here all day and night since Friday morning. There has been a few breaks but only for an hour or two. Right now it looks like a blizzard out there. I am delighted you like the banner :)
DeleteWell, this is just the cutest banner ever! Well done, my friend. Love it! xo
ReplyDeleteThank you Nancy :)
DeleteOMG Connie.. I just went to Pinterest to check out the recycled jeans boards.. and now I have at least 100 projects I want to do! Just what I needed.. more projects!! You were naughty to tell me to go there! So many things I didn't even think of.. like a cathedral window quilt.... wow. And using the pockets of jeans for a wall hanging in my craft room... duh.. why didn't I think of that??? Marilyn
ReplyDeletePinterest is pretty much the best place to go for multitudes of inspiration :)
DeleteWhat a clever idea. It wou,d look great as part of an awning in a vintage trailer. Do you have one?
ReplyDeleteWe have a motor home. I'm happy you like it :)
Deleteterrific idea, the jean fabric would be nice and stiff for a banner, neat theme idea and yes it would look great at a campsite... i am itching to go on a road trip, but we have a couple more months before our first planned trip.... hope the weather is getting better for you
ReplyDeleteI wish the weather were getting better . . . just the opposite, it has been snowing since Friday morning. A road trip to a warm climate sounds wonderful :)
Deleteoh cute U and the denim banner.... just so cute !!
ReplyDeletehugs,Patty
Thank you . . . you put a big smile on my face :)
DeleteHey, Connie! I have been meaning to get back here and take a closer look at your guitar. I love your Gibson! I just recently bought a new Guild. Oh my. She rings! I love it. Have you been playing a long time?
ReplyDeletexo
Lynn
I've been playing around seven years now. I was the activity director at an assisted living home and when the Old Time Fiddlers and others came in to entertain, I just thought they were having so much fun, that I wanted to be a part of it. So I bought a guitar and went to the internet and started teaching myself. Before I retired I joined them a few times when they came in to play and when I was ready to retired they handed me a membership form to fill out. Then one of them said that if I didn't join them, they would camp out on my doorstep until I did. I couldn't refuse a welcome like that:)
DeleteConnie, that is awesome! I have been playing for three years! I think we were drawn into music the same way. It is just so inspiring to me. I want to be a part of it. I have a gig tonight, actually, my first semi-sort-of paying gig! (I told my teacher/boyfriend that I don't want any of the money, just the practice, but he said NO, he's sharing with me.) Wish me luck! xoxo Lynn
