but truck trouble got in the way.
Here we are riding back to town,
high up in the air on the bed of a tow truck.
On the brighter side,
Spring is in the air and our weather is lovely.
Steve got the main garden tilled.
Our raspberry vines are going crazy.
I see jam in our future :)
The lilacs are blooming.
And they smell like heaven.
The irrigation lines are running on the alfalfa.
Look at the peas . . .
by the end of next month we should be eating them.
Maybe sooner :)
I do love fresh peas.
Well, that's it for this post.
Keep Smiling!
Your blogging sister,
Connie :)
A picnic sounds like fun. Too bad about the truck trouble. Hope it wasn't anything too serious. Your yard looks great. I think I can smell the lilacs, one of my favorite scents :)
ReplyDeleteOh, the lilacs smell heavenly . . . I have been working on my garden beds (getting them ready) all afternoon and every now and then I get down wind of the lilacs . . . so sweet :)
DeleteOh dear, sorry your picnic plans went awry. Your garden is looking lovely and productive xx
ReplyDeleteThe garden is getting a good start. Next weekend is our planned time to set our tomatoes and peppers out. Then it will really feel like a garden :)
DeleteI'm so sorry to hear about your truck trouble. That's never any fun. But you seemed to make the best of it, snapping pictures as you went down the highway high in the air! I love your spring time pictures. Every once in awhile I spy a daffodil or tulip in our area, but that's about it so far. It was 29° last night! I'm so ready for spring. Blessings, Betsy
ReplyDeleteHere's wishing you warmer weather very soon . . . doesn't your weatherman know that it's SPRING!
DeleteThings are looking lovely in your corner, Connie. Too bad about the picnic plans. Hope the repairs aren't too extensive.
ReplyDeleteWe were very fortunate in the fact that our pickup is the best selling model and so they had parts on hand at the Ford garage and it should be fixed before the end of the week. That's good news for me, because while it's in the shop Steve is driving my car to work. Oh well, my happiest place is home . . . so I'll be fine without a car and the pantry is full, so except for milk (and he can pick that up) I don't need to go anywhere :)
DeleteEverything looks lovely. I'm really craving lilacs and seeing yours just reinforces that desire.
ReplyDeleteOh, I know what you mean, before moving here I was the same way. I was so excited that there were mature lilacs on this property when we bought it:) If you lived closed I would show up on your doorstep with a large bouquet.
DeleteIt's never a good time for a vehicle to break down. That happened to us a few years back. Hope they are able to get it back to running soon without it costing you an arm and a leg. That's always what hurts the most is the cost. Your yard and garden are looking beautiful. This time of year is the best. You must love spending time out there.

Hi Beca, I'm on a little cool down break from gardening right now . . . as soon as I answer my lovely comments, I'm back to work. I enjoy getting my hands dirty and playing in the warm earth. Next weekend is our big planting time . . . my potting shed is running over with tomato and pepper plants that are craving to be planted outside. It never truly feels like a garden until they are in the ground. I guess the thing with the truck is just one of those valleys we all have to go through . . . it's just a hurt truck, a thing and not a person, so no big deal. The real valleys are when it's someone we love that is hurting.
DeleteYour gardens look wonderful, and I love that windmill! Our peas just started to pop, and the lilacs should be blooming soon - can't wait!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you are a week or so behind us . . . I have been enjoying the lilacs so much. Today I've been gardening downwind of them and the air smell wonderful :)
DeleteI have a little lilac envy, it is so beautiful. Hope you managed to get the truck sorted out.
ReplyDeleteIf you lived closer I would bring you a bouquet. As for the truck, it will be fine. We were fortunate and the garage has already started working on it. They had most of the parts on hand and started this morning. We should have it back before the weekend.
DeleteSuch a shame that your picnic plans went by the wayside ... but nice to see all of your photographs showing your garden.
ReplyDeleteThe lilac looks gorgeous, I bet it smells so lovely.
Take Care, and my good wishes.
All the best Jan
I've been gardening downwind of those lilacs and the air is delightful :)
DeleteYour yard is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThank you :)
DeleteHi Connie, Sorry about your truck trouble. That is no fun. Your place is looking springy and lovely. Love lilacs and the smell of them. Hoping maybe to eventually replace a bush in the front with a Kim Lilac bush. I understand that they don't spread. Is that a new scarecrow and what is his name??? Enjoy! Nancy
ReplyDeleteIt is a new scarecrow . . . he doesn't have a name. Do you want to name him?
DeleteHow bout Peter? Peter was impulsive and your hoping that your scarecrow will quickly scare them away! LOL Nancy
DeleteSorry about the truck trouble but it's good to hear it can be fixed quite soon.
ReplyDeleteYour Lilacs are lovely. I can almost smell them from here....oh wait. That's MY bouquet I'm smelling.
Thank you for the morning laugh . . . I like start my day with a little humor. Enjoy your lilacs :)
DeleteIt almost looks like you live in a super LUSH climate! I'm amazed at how huge your lilacs are! Our puny little one doesn't seem to grow much.... and has no smell whatsoever. Weird. And your raspberries... again wow. Looks like they have gotten alot of rain and watering. have you watered them? Ours are nowhere near the size of yours and yet we live in similar climates I think... .again.. weird. How fun to start thinking of eating from our gardens, when just a month ago, I, at least, was nowhere near even WANTING to work in the garden! Amazing how the sunshine perks up our spirits. xoxoxox Marilyn
ReplyDeleteThose purple lilacs where planted at least twenty years ago maybe even thirty. My neighbor lady who is 94 years young said that her husband and the man that owned our home planted them years ago. I was delighted when I saw them on the property :) Just one of the many blessing about living here in your little country home .
DeleteYour garden is looking nice. I can't wait for our peas to fruit, too. Mmmmm
ReplyDeleteFresh peas . . . aren't they wonderful :)
DeleteOh my, I hope you are able to take that picnic soon, we are having new brakes put on our truck next week :)
ReplyDeleteIt sure is looking like spring in your neck of the woods, and looks like you will have a nice crop of peas soon!
