A New Sign

Remember my new addition to the Art Barn?
Well, it is where I will be making my signs
and doing anything that has
Paint or Ink
involved in the process.

I made this sign to hang on the outside.

I also installed a screen door to the addition.
as well as a little deck.

I'm having so much fun :)

The garden beds behind the Art Barn
are also doing well.
It won't be long before we can start
harvesting over here.

Squash growing but not blooming yet.

Pumpkins starting to bloom.

Something kept eating my cucumbers,
so I set this rubber snake by the vines
and now they are starting to grow.

Look at the basil . . . Yum :)
It smells wonderful, too!

Well, that's it for today.
I have two friends dropping by this morning
and we are heading out for a little
kayaking adventure  :)

Hope you take the time to do something
fun today.

Keep Smiling!

Your blogging sisiter,
 Connie :)

  1. Kayaking? Oh, I'm envious! Happy for you, though. Your sign shop sign is perfect, and I love the addition of the screen door and the little deck. Your veggie garden is spectacular. Well done! I'm working on a furniture painting project today, and that spells fun for me. Hugs, Nancy

    1. I'm happy to hear that you have a fun project. I just got in from kayaking and was downloading my photos from our morning trip. Two and a half hours in a kayak and my back needs a good stretch, so I'm heading out to do some gardening. I'll be watching to see your furniture project, I love before and afters:)

    1. Thank you . . . we are very fortunate it the fact that we don't have deer or rabbits invading the garden. I think it is birds that where eating my tender cucumber plants . . . but not sure.

  4. Great idea with the snake. Do you have to move him around?

    1. Every now and then I move them around the garden, other wise the birds catch on. I have one in the cucumbers and four in the raspberries.

    1. We had a great day out kayaking and then when I got home my husband wanted to take a drive and show me a place that he discovered . . . two adventures in one day . . . that doesn't happen to me very often :)

    1. Hi Kay, thanks for stopping by and for your sweet words. Your Dad looks to be in great shape, I would have never guessed him as 80. I'll bet that he is looking forward to your retirement too . . . the two of you should plan a road trip together. Maybe in your new VW convertible. Have you thought about making a retirement advent calendar . . . wouldn't that be fun :)

    1. I am enjoying summer to the fullest . . . it doesn't take much for me to enjoy life . . . the simple things are the best. We had a great time out on the water yesterday. The area was enchanting and a bit mystical filled with dead trees and little coves and narrow waterways, some where we had to duck under tree branches to get through. It's a easy place to get lost in, but we kept a clear mind and calculated our directions pretty well.

  11. The shop sign is wonderful along with the addition of the screen door. Your garden is certainly coming on, we have a stack of old tyres that we intend to use for garden beds, I do think it will be next year before we start on the garden.

    1. It takes time to create a garden and a home. There is always work to do and we can only take on so much each year. Tyres work very well, they hold in heat and moisture.

    1. Hi Rose, I know that you are new to my blog, so you probably haven't seen the inside of my Art Barn. The barn shaped area is all sewing and quilting, the addition is paints and inks and in the lofts I have sleeping quarters for our daughter and granddaughters when they visit. It's a very functional space and I love it. It was a dream come true and I feel very blessed each time I go out there. I wish that you had the room for one, too.

    1. Those rubber snakes work very well. A few years ago I had them handing in my apricot trees. I was outside one day when a flock of birds flew into them, a few seconds after they landed I heard this loud squawk and they all flew off, never to return, LOL.

    1. Our kayaking morning was delightful. We put our boats in at a near by wildlife preserve . . . it's a rugged swampy looking area out in the middle of the desert with a lot of coves and waterways. It was wonderful :)

  19. Hi Connie, your signs are beautiful! I love the rubber snake idea, if we ever get our vegetable garden started I'll have to keep that in mind. It didn't happen again this year, maybe next. Happy crafting!

  20. I love the rubber snake idea. I have bunnies devouring all my veggies. (and flowers). I need to get one of them. I love your Art Barn, you are so fortunate to have it. I am so envious! Have a great day and let's see what fun activities we can get into today!!!

    1. My husband and I get an allowance and I have cut most small pleasures out of my life in order to save for that barn. It took many years. In fact when I started saving I didn't know what I was saving for, LOL. Then we bought this little house in the country and there was room on it to buy a barn and have it delivered. Then doing all the work on the inside ourselves make this dream come true. I love my barn and feel blessed every time I go our there to paint or sew :) This spring I had enough saved to add the addition. Doing it ourselves that addition cost just a little bit over 2,ooo not bad for an 10 X 11 room :)
