Give A Girl Access To Your Tools & Watch Out!

Remember our garden gate . . .
I mentioned that I was planing on doing
a remodel on it.

Here it is today.
It ties in better
with the rest of our fencing now.

It won't take long before those grapevines
are growing over the top.
Then I think it will really look nice :)

On that rock pillar beside it . . .
I added this small old washtub bucket
and filled it with succulents.

Remember the fence that the driver
went through last winter.

Well, we have had it mended for a while, now.

But, yesterday I finally got out
and stained it again.

I also built this small deck
off the addition to the Art Barn.
It's only 3 X 8 feet,
but makes a great step.

I guess you could say
that I've had a busy week, LOL

Give a girl a key to your workshop
and access to your tools,
and watch out.
There's no stopping her!  LOL

My sweet peas are starting to bloom :)

And we are eating from our snap peas.

It's our first garden vegetable of the year.

Today I'm staying in and catching up on
 laundry and cleaning.
This time of the year I love being outside
and sometimes I get behind on the inside chores:)

Have a great day!

Keep Smiling!

Your blogging sister,
Connie :)

  3. Connie, you did a great job on that fence! You are amazing. I have access to all the tools in the shop, but I could never build the things that you build. That arbor added on will be perfect with the grapevine growing over it. I love the fence!! The snap peas are so pretty.

    1. I've been enjoying working outside and adding small details to our place. There is a satisfaction in being able to do what I do. I thank the Good Lord every day for the strength and good health that he has blessed me with. Those grape vines grow so fast, it will not take long at all until they are covering that arbor and I will need to trim them back. Got to love snap peas . . . I like them cooked and raw.

  4. You're pretty handy with the tools. The deck is impressive. Your yard looks great with all those improvements. I really like the tub full of succulents. It's a really nice touch. Hope you get some rest today.

    1. I learned very early living here that I have to keep that grape vine trimmed. It gets a very cropped cut in the early spring and then I'm trimming it all through the spring and summer. If not it gets way out of hand :) Thanks so much for being such a sweet and loyal follower . . . I wish you lived near by, too :)

  6. The gate and the fences look brilliant, a job well done. We are working on all ours at the moment as well as trying to paint the outside of the house. Unfortunately we are dodging a few rain showers. Take care.

    1. I have been getting up early and trying to be outside by 7:30 or 8:00 and then I try not to work past 12:30 . . . those hot afternoon are better spent inside or in the shade relaxing. Sounds like we are on the same page . . . wise minds think alike :)

    1. Hi Betsy, thank you so much . . . I enjoy any job that has a quick satisfaction. I've helped my husband on so many projects through the years, that I just learned from watching him :) He does have a couple of saws that he has made me promise to not use, because of safety issues . . . other than that, I go a little hog wild, LOL.

  16. Hi Connie, If you gave me tools you would have to post "Danger"! I love how you have redone your gate. Looks so nice. I just noticed too how you did your fence with one plain board and then the picket style board every other one. I like that look. I picked shelling peas and Sugar Pod peas today. Most of them aren't as long as they should be and I should have picked the Sugar Pod before they started developing peas inside. Will still eat them one way or another!! LOL Nancy

    1. I love those sugar peas, they do start getting a little bit tougher when they start developing peas inside, I like to cook carrots and then in the last 5 minutes or so I throw in the peas . . . drain and add a little butter and oh so good. I think that is how we are having them tonight :)

  19. How did you do that (the deck)? I have helped build 2 houses over the years but I wouldn't begin to know how to build that little deck by myself! I'm a great helped but have no idea how to begin ....very frustrating. Guess I need to get some library books! Everything looks wonderful!

  20. We are doing those sorts of jobs around our place too. Love the gate and fence. A gate has gotta look good doesn't it?It's the way in, so it's what visitors notice. I also have a "thing" about leaves blowing around a front door. We had a new fence put up this week.It has made the whole house look smarter. Feels like a new place! Now I am potting up succulents and cacti etc. Then colourful annuals. Our climate is quite mild so we eve have colour in Winter. Have a lovely weekend.

    1. Thank you . . . I get satisfaction from being busy and adding new interest to the gardens. My tomatoes are growing so fast that today, if it doesn't rain I need to tie them up some more. We have had more rain this year than normal and I'm loving it . . . when it rains in a desert area it calls for a celebration, LOL
