I've been cleaning my closet
and trading my summer clothes
for winter clothes.
Well, one thing leads to another . . .
so I deep cleaned and made some changes
to this bedroom.
Before.
After
I moved the vanity table
which is really an old sewing machine
table into the corner and now will
be using it as a nightstand.
Before
This was setting on top of my dresser.
Before
Now the dresser is cabinet free
and moved into the corner
where the vanity was.
After
And the cabinet got moved to the
Art Barn.
Those three shelves, on the wall over
the dresser now . . .
were on the wall between the window
and the closet.
Sometimes it's fun to just take
what you have a move it around.
After
This is the ceiling light in that room.
I bought a small chandelier a year ago,
but it's still in the box.
Are any of you guilty of things like that?
These are some of the things that were in
that cabinet . . .
now they are celebrating their
freedom out in the Art Barn.
I'm looking forward to enjoying
this fireplace (brought from the old house)
out in the Art Barn this winter :)
Moving things around
is much cheaper than buying new, LOL.
And after all sometimes
a change is good
and does not have to be expensive :)
Thanks for stopping by to visit.

Your blogging sister,
Connie :)
Nice that you got sidetracked and voila - new interior design! Very nice. Enjoy your new surrounding and seeing different treasures around you :-)
ReplyDeleteIt feels good to have the closet and under the bed all clean and a new arrangement. Nice way to go into colder weather, when I spend more time inside :) You're just starting to get into your Spring weather. Do you plant a big garden?
DeleteNice changes Connie.
ReplyDeleteI don't know how it happened but I can leave comments now. :)
That makes me happy and you left such a sweet one, thank you :)
DeleteI agree, Connie! It's so refreshing to move things around. I have some moving around to do, too. The fireplace is so cozy! The art barn is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThanks, I love my little home and my Art Barn. As you can see I do experiment with a lot of color out in the barn; I'm not that brave in the house, LOL.
DeletePlease come infect me with whatever fever you have please! I love all your changes and the reuse of items. I bought a chandelier a couple months ago that I had been craving for years, yet it's still sitting on a cabinet waiting for some big, tall handsome to come along and hang it up.
ReplyDeleteI know, it is one of those jobs that you need help with . . . when it comes to electricity I don't really want to mess with it myself. Hopefully we will both get our chandelier up soon :)
DeleteYou certainly have a gift for arranging things in nice ways. Your house rooms speak of calm and peacefulness while the Art Barn says Wild and Cheerful to the Max! Maybe those are two sides of you? ( I hope my saying that doesn't offend you. I don't in any way mean it in a nasty way).
ReplyDeleteYou are absolutely right. I enjoy calming and relaxing tones in our little home, but out in the barn I love to experiment with color. It makes me happy and just creates energy.
DeleteNice rooms.... and yes time for changes october here and days become shorter and colder. I started to change the summer clotes for winter...
ReplyDeleteIsn't it nice going into another season? I kind of like the changes. Not only of the weather but of clothes and foods. I like salads and fresh fruits in the warm seasons, but love soups and stews and pie in the colder seasons. A change is a good thing.
DeleteHi Connie, I'm with you 100%. In moving to our downsized home, it's been great fun finding ways to use things in a different way. Your room looks great! Thank you for visiting me today. 😊
ReplyDeleteHow fun that you are downsizing. Sometimes I miss having a living room and a family room, it was nice when unexpected company showed up, LOL. I could just close the door to the family room and the mess of lounging in front of the TV. I know that you will have so much fun making it home; I did when we moved here.
DeleteYou have a magic touch and make everything you do look good
ReplyDeleteAnn, that is such a sweet thing to say, thank you :)
DeleteI like the changes you've made. I used to love changing things around. Then I would worry when it was time for Poppy to get home...he is not crazy about change and finding his favorite chair on the opposite side of the room. :) Your pink bedroom wall is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteSteve is the same way when it comes to his chair . . . I just arrange things around it, LOL
DeleteI love that painting above the fireplace. Everything looks really pretty. I like changing things around every Spring and Fall.
ReplyDeleteThank you Betty, that painting is one of mine that I paint several years ago. You always say the sweetest things . . . it warms my heart, thank you :)
DeleteWow Connie you have a beautiful home and i love your decorating, well done my friend xx
ReplyDeleteThank you so much . . . you're a sweetie pie :)
DeleteI admire your ability to mix and match and shuffle and rearrange. It's looking very cozy out in the Art Barn.
ReplyDeleteThank you. It is filled with so much stuff, all the little things that I have collected through the years. I am certainly a nester. I have fun with color out in the barn . . . I feel like all that color help create a happy atmosphere for creating, as you can see I keep the house more calming.
DeleteIt is uplifting to change things around or get something new once in awhile. I love those boxes you had on top of the dresser! Did they go out in the Art Barn? Do you store things in them? I seem to be drawn to boxes!! Have a great Sunday! Nancy
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy, Actually those boxes are now under the vanity that is being used as a nightstand now. They contain hats and scares. I am a hat person and wear them all the time.
DeleteI love it, Connie. I can tell it is a warm and welcoming room to snuggle into at night. That quilt is just gorgeous, too. I love the soft pink color in the room, too. Very pretty.
ReplyDeleteHow great to have that workspace and a fireplace in there to boot. Whoo Hooo! xo Diana
I'll looking forward to long winter days with dinner in the crock pot and me out in the Art Barn quilting and being warmed by the fireplace :)
DeleteYes, I have a number of things I bought and never installed. I blame my husband, although some of them he doesn't even know about! ;-)
ReplyDeleteLOL . . . we all need to be working on a Honey Do List for winter :)
DeleteI love how you have rearranged some of your things, its like go shopping for free. You have a wonderful eye for detail.
ReplyDeleteThank you. It's fun seeing what you can do to make a change without spending any money :)
DeleteYou are right making just a few changes can refresh a room and make it feel different and more cosy. All your hard work moving thngs about was worth it, your rooms look lovely:)
ReplyDeleteYou are so sweet, thank you . . . When you deep clean you have to move everything anyway, so why not rearrange while you're doing it :)
DeleteConnie, You are so right...shop your house first. LOL. Love the fireplace in your art barn. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteIt's fun to just rearrange and tweak the house a little bit. Much cheaper than going shopping, LOL
DeleteI love having a move around, much to my husbands irritation (he doesn't mind really, just knows he'll get roped into moving anything big). Your room looks lovely and I love your art room xx
ReplyDeleteHello Cheryl, thanks for stopping by to visit and for your sweet words. We just have to remind our husbands that when we need a change moving things around is much cheap that shopping for new stuff, LOL All we want to a bit of a different placement :)
DeleteYou have lots of creative things to choose from to redo a room! You made a nice job of the bedroom, it looks very cozy and welcoming.
ReplyDeleteWendy
Hi Wendy, and thank you so much, I appreciate the feed back. After a hard day of cleaning and rearranging, it nice to know that others like it too :)
DeleteWonderful changes you have made, yes it is always good to just move things around and make new changes to brighten and fix up an area, I love your new quilt for your bed!
ReplyDeleteHi Connie, Thanks for visiting. Sometimes moving things around is all you need to do to make a room feel new and fresh again. There are times when I think that I have too many little things around, but they make me happy :) More to dust . . . but fun just the same:)
DeleteYour changes are looking good! I definitely know about one project leading to another. But it's fun to "shop the house" and use what you have and rearrange things. The fireplace in your art barn will keep you nice and toasty in there this winter!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to many hours out there in the barn this winter, so yes that fireplace is going to be wonderful. I almost gave it away when we moved here . . . now that I have it out in the barn I'm so happy that I saved it. It was in our living room at our old house.
DeleteLove the idea of a change around. It is amazing what you discover when you have a clean up. Lots of forgotten treasures.
ReplyDeleteCheers, Karen

That's true, I found a hat box filled with wool berets and winter scarves that I had forgotten . . . they will be wonderful this winter.
DeleteI enjoy doing that every now and then too. It gives it a fresh feeling. That's such a darling room.
ReplyDeletexx Beca
Hi Beca, thank you. It's a very relaxing room. As you can tell by these photos, I go a little bit wild with color out in the barn, but like to keep the house more subdued.
DeleteI enjoy moving things around too. In fact I did that today in the living room.
ReplyDeleteFun! Doesn't it feel fresh and new, just to move things around and have a change :)
DeleteIt's nice to change things up from time to time. And the Art Barn is where I would want to spend ALL my time! I just keep looking around to see what I can see. And in that last photo....the lady painted above the clock? Did you paint that? Very beautiful! What a serene look on her face. Enjoy your evening! It's getting dark sooner...already! Hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteHi Diane, yes I did paint that . . . several years ago. I use to sell my paintings in a local gallery, then the owner moved and some other business opened in the building. I got busy with other things and never went out looking for another gallery. I am delighted that you like it :) Thanks so much for stopping by; I always enjoy reading your sweet comments.
DeleteWhat a pretty room, Connie! You have done it all so well, and it's cottagey and full of character. Thank you for your visit - yes, it was lovely going out for lunch with my friends. In between that and too many other activities to mention, I have not been well and have had to rest a lot - overdoing things is not good for me!! Better again this week, though, and trying to catch up with blogging and emails etc.
ReplyDeleteShoshi
It's great to have you stop by and so good to hear that you are feeling better.
DeleteWell, I had to scroll back through several times to take in all the prettiness, Connie. I admire your eye for showing off your collections and creating charming vignettes. Love it all. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteThank you Nancy . . . it is a pleasure to have you stop by. Have a wonderful weekend . . . get out and do something fun with your sweetie :)
DeleteThese are both charming rooms. Love that art room. It really caught my eye, as I love eclectic things, and it has a creative and welcoming feel to the room. Yes, sometimes moving things around makes all the difference in the world. You inspired me to do the same. : )
