Celebrating beautiful October . . .
while it lasts :)
Winter will be here before we know it.
Our Mums are still looking lovely
even though we have been having frost.
We spent some of our time this weekend
cleaning up leaves.
Although some are still hanging on.
I was looking around the yard
taking pictures and noticed how pretty
the texture of the wood pile looked
in the afternoon sunlight.
And the windmill blade . . .
It is amazing how when you slow down
and look around you . . .
there is beauty everywhere :)
I'll close with these two pictures . . .
Steve made sausage this weekend
and here it is in the smoker.
Now that's beautiful and tasty, too :)
October is almost over.
Cold weather is right around the corner.
Are you ready?
I'm not, but that won't stop it from coming, LOL.
Have A Lovely Day
&
Keep Smiling!
Your blogging sister
Connie :)
Hi Connie in my part of the world we are waiting for Spring to come,I am looking forward to some warmer days ,lovely pics my friend xx
ReplyDeleteHappy Spring! Your blog will give me encouragement when the snow is on the ground here. Spring always brings with it a hope and new birth to all things of nature.
DeleteOh, my goodness! Photo #5 with those orange leaves is spectacular.
ReplyDeleteI had to go back and count . . . the grape vines and the poplar trees are pretty amazing this time of the year :)
DeleteHi Connie.. such beautiful photos! Love all the pumpkins and the woodpile. I've always loved the look of woodpiles. I'll have to send you a poem I wrote about my ex husband and his big woodpiles! It was after we were divorced and my current hubby and I would visit my ex and his wife as we lived only about 2 miles apart, all of us out in the country. We had all becomes friends, and my husband and I would marvel at my ex's woodpile! So I wrote a poem to go with some pictures I took and we gave it to him for Christmas a few years ago. I'm not ready for winter either... not looking forward AT ALL to snow and shovelling and fighting the ice and such. This is when I wish I lived at the coast! Seems like there is always something to do outdoors, even this time of year. Hope you had a good weekend.... hugs... Marilyn
ReplyDeleteI don't mind it at all, I love being outdoor . . . except when it is icy, cold and windy . . . that I can't handle very well, LOL. Your poem sounds like a great base for a new post :) Looking forward to reading it.
DeleteWow, you are a real Power couple with stack and stacks of fab skills!. It is so good to know how to make and grow things. As a former teacher, I always tried to have the kids grow and make. We always had loads of ART/Craft as well....
ReplyDeleteyour blog is inspiring.
Making things with children is so much fun. For ten years I worked at a day care teaching preschool 9 months and then having school age 6 to 11 years old during the summer. It was fun coming up with craft ideas and creating new ideas to keep them busy. When they are all busy having fun there never seems to be a behavior problem, LOL.
DeleteAs Martha would say, That's a good thing.
Beauty indeed, I do so wish I could taste that sausage.
ReplyDeleteWe sampled it before we put it in the smoker . . . it was wonderful then, but after smoking it will be even better :) Wish you were here.
DeleteLooks like a beautiful autumn in your neck of the woods. It's been cold and rainy here the past week. That sausage looks so good
ReplyDeleteIf you were here we would give you a sample :)
DeleteI'm not ready either Connie...but you're right, we can't stop it from coming! I'm definitely not looking forward to the hours of shoveling snow!!! :) Your photos are pretty :) Wow, those sausages look so great! We'd love to get a smoker one of these days too!
ReplyDeleteWe love smoked meat and have this small one and another on a trailer that we can smoke a whole pig in. It's great for feeding crowds or for smoking a huge batch and freezing it. Then are actually not hard to make, does your hubby weld?
DeleteNo, no welders in this couple :) Alex was pretty city-fied when I met him, but he's learning lots of new skills a little bit at a time :) Maybe one day we'll add welding to our list of skills, heck I might try to learn myself! :)
DeleteI agree. It is still a lovely time of year. Lovely to have the warm days and cool nights. Lovey colour in your trees.
ReplyDeleteAnd the sausage looks delicious.
Cheers, Karen

Hi Karen, if you were here you could sample the sausage . . . Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment . . . I love reading them and knowing that you visited.
DeleteFall has been elusive to us this year with the hot days hanging on into mid-October. This past week fall arrived full-on, and I'm not really ready either. Your photos capture the season beautifully!
ReplyDeleteWendy
Thank you . . . with a blog name like September Violets, I would guess Autumn to be your favorite season :)
DeleteGreat time of year for you to take beautiful pictures! I guess cold weather is like the Hide and Seek game. Ready or not here I come! Nancy
ReplyDeleteI like that . . . so true, LOL
DeleteNice to see your pretty fall pictures. Winter came last night, we got a bit of snow.
ReplyDeleteMy goodness! That is early . . . bundle up on your morning walks and stay nice and toasty:)
DeleteOh, I love meat smoked in a smoker! It's making my mouth water! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteIf you were here we would let you sample our wares :)
DeleteFall looks lovely and yummy at your home.
ReplyDeleteSomething about cold weather makes the taste buds crave comfort food, LOL
DeleteThose pumpkins and the pretty Mums make for lovely photos. Autumn has so much beauty everywhere one looks. We've had a few days of nice weather and have caught up with all the Fall pruning and cutting down.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful! Now you have time to do some of the things you love :) If you are like me, it's hard to do the fun things until the work is finished. Thanks for visiting.
DeleteIt is amazing that when you just stop and really look at things how you see beauty in everything. My peppers just were hit by the frost so they are now done, so sad to know that winter is so close, I would love to have more fall weather to last a long time.
ReplyDeleteRetirement has slowed me down in many ways . . . I garden, quilt, can, paint and so on and so on, but I'm not doing any of that by the clock. I think that is the big difference in my life after retirement and it has given me much more time to actually appreciate all the beauty around me. When we are young we have jobs, children, schedules and ticking clocks going on all the time . . . I do not miss that at all:) I never enjoyed winter that much because it was getting in the car and keeping all those schedules whether the roads were icy and bad or not. Now winter is about staying home when the roads are bad and replacing all the schedules of the world with sewing and quilting and more time in my barn. Winter has gone from my least favorite season to one I look forward to:) Here's to you having more time off the clock to slow down and enjoy. God bless you :)
DeleteI love all your Autumn photos! They're so colorful and I appreciate every one of them! Fall is my favorite season. We haven't had too much of it here in North Texas (it's suppose to be 91 tomorrow for the first time EVER in November!) Hopefully, we can get fully into the season soon, but whether or not we do, it's fall in my heart and I'm going to enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteTake care,
D~~~~
Hi Donna, we got our first snow yesterday and today the ground is white and the north winds are blowing in a chill. Winter is coming early for us.
DeleteSnow! Oh, be still my heart! I imagine you get tired of winter after a few months just like I get tired of the heat. Oh well, it's not like I can change the weather but I can always DREAM about cooler temps and beautiful SNOW!
DeleteDo you want me to mail you some? LOL
DeleteI'm so pleased I stopped at your blog today ...
ReplyDeleteWhat a super post and wonderful set of photographs.
All the best Jan
