Tweeking The Camper

My Steve will be retiring soon and so we
purchased a "new to us" 5th wheel . . .
we hope to do some camping.
The first thing that I did was remove the
wall paper boarder that was in this trailer.

As you can see it is a lime green
and not my style.

In the kitchen I scrapped it off and
left it plain white (no boarder).

This is the wallpaper boarder that I choose to
replace it.

 This is the dining table.

All that I did here is replace
the wallpaper boarder.

This was the living room area.

Here it is now.
I brought in a table from the house.
Purchased a lamp at Home Depot and stenciled the deer on it.
I gathered up some of my quilts
and made some throw pillows to match.
You can also see the wallpaper boarder in the background.

 This accent wall is something
we did to give it a cabin feel.

Sorry for all the glare :(
These are not my best photos.

I've had this painting for years . . .
I absolutely love it here.

By the door there was this space . . .

 Perfect for a TV . . .
Steve built the cabinet and now
if it rains or we are pooped out
in the evening
we can watch movies on the DVD.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Modern Camping :)

Perfect for old geezers like us:)

When I get my Tattered Pioneer Quilt finished,
I'll show you the bedroom.

Well, that's what I've been doing . . .

Keep Smiling!

Your blogging sister,
Connie :)

  2. Everything looks great. Love the new border and the lamp looks fantastic. My in-laws had a 5th wheel that they 7sed to take to Florida every year. They ended up selling it and buying a Parkside model instead. If I was going to camp this is the only way I would do it. I need all the modern conveniences

  5. WOW!!!! That is just amazing! I love it, I could totally live there full time lol! :) My dream one day is to have a nice trailer for camping too! Very great job you did on the lamp, I love that! :)

  6. Perfect! I have done much the same in our trailer at the lake. I replaced icky things they had on the windows with some curtains and I would like to take the border off in the kitchen and put some of that vinyl tile up. I think it would be easier to clean. You have a lot more counterspace than I do in the kitchen. My dream is to live in our trailer full time, but not sure if that will ever happen. I can’t wait to see the bedroom. I have the first quilt I ever made on our bed in our trailer. I absolutely love it. Blessings, Betsy

  7. How cozy and roomy your 5th wheel is!! We have a camperized van and are somewhat crowded in it but it works for us.

Now that is my kind of camping! I can't wait to see the post of you all in the woods cooking on the open fire. sounds wonderful.

  13. Hi Connie, Fifth-wheel is the way to go! The wallpaper is great and the way you are decorating it! Those chairs are wonderful to relax in. We just had a small sofa bed couch. Our eating area was two booth type seats and I think your table and chairs will be more comfortable. I loved having a microwave and air conditioning! LOL You are going to have so much fun! How big is it? Ours was only a 29 foot with one slide but large enough for us two an our dog! The quilt your making will look wonderful in there and be so comfy! Have fun! Nancy

    1. This is a 31 foot camper. We where looking for something between a 28 and a 31. That was as big as we would go. There are too many camp sites that do not take anything any longer and we didn't want to be turned down. We got a great buy on this one and the people who had it before us took very good care of it. Now, we get to continue the love :) Looking forward to warmer weather and some fun times sitting around a campfire :)

  16. What fun touches you've given your "home on wheels". It looks wonderful. I think I could live in it full-time! Did you just use acrylic paint on the lampshade? I love that.. and the painting matches so well, as does the wood accent wall. Our little truck camper we can't even stand up in! but I'm sure we'll love it as long as we can have a comfy bed and places to sit and be out of the weather.. and be able to cook inside too if we need to. I'm so looking forward to taking it on our first road trip.. will definitely "try it out" first before any long trips. We have a lake about 10 miles from us with a nice campground, so am sure we'll try it there first! On your first trip, I definitely want pictures of you cooking over that open fire! Hugs.. Marilyn

    1. Hi Marilyn, it will be Steve cooking and me just taking it easy . . . Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh . . . doesn't that sound great :) We have some friends that want to go on a maiden voyage with us, they say that every year they take theirs out for an overnight close to home, just to see if they need to do any repairs before a long trip. I used stencils and a little bottle of that craft paint you buy at Walmart on my lamps shade and on the pillows. It works great!

  19. I love the new boarder you put up. It made a world of difference and added your personal appeal. My camper has a brown printed boared around the walls. I like how you left your kitchen area with no boarder. I thnk I want to do that to mine now. You did a good job.

    1. I debated about putting a wallpaper boarder back in the kitchen, but I'm happy with the plain walls. . . it looks less busy and I like the clean uncluttered look is gives. In the other areas the boarder seems to warm it up and make it feel more homey . . . our little home away from home. I'm looking so forward to getting out in the fresh Spring air and doing some camping with my sweetie :)

    1. Hi Beca, and thank you. It has been fun decorating it. We plan on being outside most of the time that we are camping, but it sure will be nice to be able to take a hot shower and crawl into a warm bed with clean sheets. We have reached an age that if we are going to camp, it has to be in comfort. These old bones and joints just would not go for tent camping anymore, LOL.

  36. You've added some really nice features Connie. I particularly like your cabin wall :) We've been camping for years, starting with a fold-down trailer, and then a hard-sided. We just traded in our old trailer this winter and are looking forward to camping season in our new "retirement" trailer. Campsites are already booked! I'm making a quilt for the bed with all wilderness panels. I gave the panels to my husband for Christmas with a promise to make them into cushions, but he asked me to make a quilt with them instead. I have a couple of months to make it up, and I'm not the quickest crafter ;) Enjoy your journey on the road, you're going to love it!
