Hammock Swing & Cedar Strip Canoe

This tire swing has been hanging in our yard
for the past four summers.
April 2, was our 4th anniversary
on buying our little home.

This is what we put up today.

It's much more grandma friendly.
I'm looking forward to sitting out there
with a ice tea and a good book :)

Some of you that have been following
my blog for awhile, know that my Steve
and our dear friend and neighbor Jim, are
building a cedar strip canoe together.

This photo was taken after they put the
last strip of wood into the hull.

Today they started the finishing process
on the outside of the hull.

It takes many layers and process's to
finish it, but they are slowly
working on it and making progress :)

I thought you might like to see
that I am not the only creative
person around here.

I'll remember and show you more
of this beautiful canoe as it gets
turned and the inside starts getting finished  :)

Keep Smiling!

Your blogging sister,
Connie :)

    1. Hi Nancy, I know I'm always so busy, but I am just going to have to learn to crave a little more time in for relaxation. I'm getting too old to go all day long. I'll pass the word on about the canoe, the guys will love knowing that you think it is beautiful :)

    1. The nicest thing about a swing is that you can put your feet down and walk backward until you are standing again :) I agree our guys are doing a great job on the canoe :)

  10. WOW, that canoe looks beautiful. I wished we had a big tree to put a hammock chair up. If our back porch was bigger I would put one there. It looks so comfy.

  15. We are hammock lovers too! We have three of them, one is a double that we keep in the screened-in porch so we don't get eaten alive by bugs in the summer! It's nice to sit out there and watch thunderstorms all cuddled up with Alex. :) That canoe is looking great! What a wonderful skill to have! :)

Another thing that we agree on, is our love of sitting out on the porch during a storm.
It's a great place to be protected from the rain and have a magnificent view :)

    1. They are getting ready to meet in the shop this morning and work on it some more. It has been a slow process because my Steve is still working so it's always finding a weekend day when we don't have plans. He'll soon be retired and then they'll have more time to get together and work. He's counting down the weeks now and using up some saved vacation time and very excited about being retired :)

  19. I love the picture of your house. Looks like you live fairly far from your neighbours! The same goes for the swing - will not get anything done - I can enjoy a good book, in the warm weather, and with nobody to bother me!

    1. Hi Angie, thanks for stopping by to visit. We do have neighbors on each side and behind us, but we have an acre of land, so our yard is nice and big. We also have that amazing hay field across the road and that gives us a lovely view from the front of the house and the porch. We are blessed with good neighbors and that makes all the difference in the world. If fact we are such good friends with one of our neighbors that her husband went out one day and cut a gate in the fence, so she and I would not have to go out on the road to visit each other , LOL.
