Today's post is a mix of photos
from the past.
Projects like these chairs
that I painted and just photos from
everyday life in Connie's world.
What is important is the text.
Please read and comment :)
There is this old saying that goes,
If it ain't broke don't fix it!
That is what I feel about Blogger
and their changes,
but then I do not know the pressures
that they may have
been under to make these changes.
Laws change
and they do have to keep up with them.
The one thing that I have noticed
is that when you leave a comment . . .
and thank you so much for leaving them,
I read them all and enjoy them so much.
But when I reply now,
the reply remains on my post
and never reaches your email,
like they did before.
Therefore; if you don't come back again
to see whether I replied or not
you will never see it to read it.
Let's get real!
We don't go back and visit a blog
that we have already
read and enjoyed . . .
we move on to another
sweet blogging sister
to see what they have been up to.
For that reason I will stop
replying to comments on my blog.
BUT . . . THERE'S MORE
Instead I will go directly to your blog
and share in your comment box
or in your email.
I love all of my blogging sisters
and enjoy the camaraderie
of sharing ideas and
helping with creative problems.
Like how do I get rid of garden pests
in an organic way,
or why does this paint peel off my cabinets,
or what did I do wrong,
my cake didn't rise?
I will not stop blogging
because of the changes . . .
I will roll with the punches
and hope for the best.
I love blogging
and have made so many lovely friends
here in blog-land.
Please let me know you visited
by leaving a comment.
I will in turn . . . visit your blog.
Keep Smiling!
Your blogging sister,
Connie :)
That pretty much sums it up for me too. I still love to blog but I'm sorry they change things...just for the sake of change, I'm afraid! It surely doesn't make it better. I love your sweet smile and you always inspire me with the things you make. I'm glad we are friends! Blog buddies! Hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteI've never had any 'reply' come to my e mail and always have checked back to see if a blogger had answered any question I might have asked. If I don't ask any particular question then I don't check. I think your idea of answering in the person's blog ( comment section) is a great idea.
ReplyDeleteLove your smile!!
GM
Hello Sweet Connie, I do not like the changes either!! But I will keep on keeping on and I am glad you are also! I was wondering where you put those chairs? Just curious! Nancy
ReplyDeleteWhen ever I left a comment on your blog...I always came back to see your comment on my comment. Because I knew you commented on all your comments. I was interested in what you had to say. I always liked seeing comments on my blog and usually commented on the comment. But I guess I broke some rule that one is not supposed to comment on the comments on ones blog....oh well...I think this whole situation stinks and I have heard that many are going to stop blogging. I won't though, I am going to let my Etsy store close though....lots of changes there too. I don't understand, if something is not broke, why do they keep fixing things, updates drive me crazy too cause something always changes on my computer.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful collection of pictures Connie! Your talent and craftiness is always inspirational to me! I too don't know why Blogger has made these difficult changes, hopefully enough people will complain that they will change it back to the way it was. It could be because of the new rules in Europe that has everyone concerned about privacy issues. Change is never fun! I like your perspective though :) Keep blogging on sweet friend, you are always an inspiration to me :)
ReplyDeleteHello Connie. I wholeheartedly agree with everything you have written here today! You have summed up how I feel ! Your blog is a lovely place to visit & if I don't hear back from you I will still keep commenting. (I am a new follower to your lovely blog) Julie Xx Your photos are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteDear Connie, your place is oozing with fun, charm, whimsy and so much loveliness. It is always a delight to visit and take a peek at all your pretties. Change is sometimes a pain but the joy we find in each others' blogs is worth all the effort. I am sure Blogger will fix this glitch soon.
ReplyDeleteHello Connie.I love your blog.I gave up blogging and just use Facebook, as I get comments and encouragement there. Your blog posts make me happy Connie!
ReplyDeleteIt is a bit of a nuisance, the whole commenting thing on Blogger. Other platforms have a better set up that conforms with the new European GDPR legislation. On the other hand though, this new legislation gives consumer and users far more privacy rights, which I applaud wholeheartedly. I have already noticed a change in my personal email folder. I don't usually go back to a blog after leaving a comment, unless I have asked a specific question. There is just not enough time in the day unfortunately.
ReplyDeleteBtw, if commenters tick the notify me box at the bottom right, they should see your reply. I read this on Vicki's blog (http://www.lifeinmyemptynest.com/2018/05/fix-to-blogger-comment-issue.html).
Have a good rest of the week. x
You are saying what so many of us are feeling. There is nothing we can do except accept it and just go on going on!
ReplyDeleteThe changes have been a bit annoying but like you said, roll with the punches. I've made some changes in the way I do things. I switched from a pop up comment box to embedded so I can reply to each comment. I have a few readers who prefer email so I email my reply directly to them. There are others who like to see my answers so for them I'll reply on the blog as well as for those that are no-reply bloggers. I may change my system again but for now that's the way I'm doing things. Like you, I won't give up blogging.
ReplyDeleteLove all your beautiful pictures and love the red chair. It is sad what blogger has done. I thought I found a way to get around it. If you make a reply to someone's comment on your blog and click the Notify box you will get the rest of the comments your email. They had to ruin that too, because when someone makes a comment their address comes up as no reply. At least you get to know that people are making comments on your post. I hate this. I have made so many friends on blogs by getting the emails from their comments so I can reply to them directly.
ReplyDeleteI love your photos you shared today. I have always had problems with getting the comments in my emails.
ReplyDeleteConnie, I am not savvy enough to get the rights things on my computer. So I drift along with hope. I love all your wonderful painting and crafts. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteHi Connie, Supposedly Google is going to fix this issue, though for the life of me I don't know why they broke it in the first place! Nice to revisit some of your photos!
ReplyDeleteMy goodness Connie such beautiful makes, the chairs are a delight. Such a good idea to answer a question in the persons blog.
ReplyDeleteHi Connie! I comment on several blogs that reply through their own comments and I've never had it come back to my email. I do sometimes get replies in my email but those are from people who reply through email. I never knew I was supposed to get an email from you. And I've been blogging for years and years. I suppose some people did but it never worked that way for me. Either way I leave a comment just because I want to not because I'm expecting a reply. I usually just visit the other persons blog and leave a comment for them. I get what you're saying though, adjusting to change is not easy or fun. I've always enjoyed visiting your blog. Love that picture of you.

I agree wholeheartedly with everything you wrote today Connie. Change for the sake of change is not good in my opinion, but what do I know? I love the idea of coming and commenting on someone else’s blog. But, in addition I just have to say, your photos today are absolutely stunning. The colors are stunning. Your craftiness and talent never ceases to amaze me each time you share with us. Have a lovely afternoon.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Betsy
Oh yes--blogging is still a big part of my life--I am not happy about all the changes (folks advertising to make money, pop up ads, and now this comment problem) but it is so a part of my life and friendships!! so thanks for keeping up yours--too!!
ReplyDeleteso here is to many more blogs reads--
enjoy, di
Changes happen and you're right, we learn to adapted or move on Thanks for sharing and including some wonderful photos.
ReplyDeleteGood words ! Don't go anywhere.........your blog is so refreshing. I love the joy you've found in your vegetable gardening, and I love your homemade signs. You bring a different feel to the way you 'refresh' your home and surroundings.
ReplyDeleteKeep on keepin' on !
I too am so bummed that we can not reply to comments through email, it makes me so sad, I am hoping they can figure out how to get things back to normal, guess we will see. I really enjoyed the pics in your post, a little bit of everything wonderful!! Glad you haven't decided to stop blogging :)
ReplyDeleteOh Connie, it's so frustrating, I agree. The email comments and friendships I have made are the best part. I too will keep going, but I do hope the email comments come back so we can all stay in touch. And ps...love your beautiful pictures. The chairs are just darling...
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are the best!!! Now, I want pie! Rolling with the punches is the only way to go! Otherwise, we wouldn't go at all......
ReplyDeleteLoved all of your fun photos of past things. I was reading a forum on Blogger and "they" say that they are hoping to get the comments back up (so that if a person comments, it'll go to your email inbox like it has before). When I reply to someone who comments on my blog, I never even know if they get my reply! And I surely am not getting anyones' comments now so I go look each day to see! I've lost all of my sidebar things too which is SO frustrating, but I don't even feel inclined to go fix it. I just had some photos there, and a search box, follow me box (which I like to have and may try to put that back), my Etsy store (gone) and some quotes I like, etc. It all happened when I tried to add a Privacy Policy and a cookie notification! I wish things could be left alone. But please keep posting! I go to your blog to see what you're up to and really enjoy it.. and I figure if I want to comment or ask you a question, I can do so via email. I thought about quitting my blog when I lost some of my stuff, but I do enjoy the writing and sharing, and keeping "in touch" with my blogging friends! Sometimes I'm inspired to finish something, just so I can post it and share it with everyone! It's like: "see what I accomplished?" That's funny isn't it? I guess we'll just keep on keepin' on! Hugs.. Marilyn
ReplyDeleteOk Connie I am drooling over that pie what kind oh heke it does not matter looks delicious! That tablecloth is so pretty too. Love all the pictures that you are sharing today. As for me and comments I am so non tech I have a hard time with all the tech part of blogging I really need to get it done pro like. Anyway you are too kind to rearrange comments so we can all see. A wonderful lady with a beautiful smile you are. Lisa@ Sweet Tea N' Salty Air
ReplyDeleteConnie, I feel the same way! I hate that I can no longer respond to my comments through e-mail. The blogger that redesigned my page told me that they are trying to fix that. I sure hope so! Yes, no one has time to go back to every blog they visit. I love blogging, but let's get real. Life is busy!! Your chairs are so cute and yum, I'm wanting a piece of pie. I was thinking about making a strawberry pie tomorrow or Monday.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
Great pictures Connie. Love your blog.
ReplyDeleteI agree, if it isn’t broke...
ReplyDeleteWhen my schedule changed, and I got an iPhone, and windows eight came out ( which I never really learned because no one else did so I didn’t have a teacher) I lost interest in blogging. I struggle through it and every now and then i get interested again. But blogging has changed so much since I’ve been in it that I don’t know how much longer I’ll stick w it. In the beginning I also felt connected to a lot of bloggers, which we stay in touch on instagram. but now I only feel connected to a couple. You being one! You can come swim in our pond anytime my blogging friend!
Hello Connie, the blogger changes are a pain. If I have the emails of my blogging friend I will reply. Or I will try to answer on my blog. I love the chairs and your pretty images. Enjoy your day and week ahead.
ReplyDeleteOh, my crafty, creative friend with the beautiful smile, I'm so glad you'll continue to blog. I would just miss you so much if you stopped. Thank you for the kind comment you left on my last post. Like you, I cherish the friendships I have made through blogging. It always amazes me how my blogging friends never give up on me, even when I'm gone for long periods. They're an awesome bunch. Hugs to you! Nancy
ReplyDeleteLove that smile. Thank you for all your efforts to answer our comments. I have always appreciated them. I will miss reading all your comments to everyone else, but I'm sure the blogger folks consider the change to be progress. And like you said, we have to roll with the punches. The painted chairs are cute. You come up with such neat ideas.
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
Connie, I have always gone to the friend's blog and answered their question if they had one. I think that's a great thing you're doing. There has been many blog changes, but like you, I'm sticking with it. And guess what? I am able to comment on blogs that I couldn't before, so I'm happy about that.
ReplyDeleteAnd I just wanted to say that you look wonderful in this picture and have such a sweet smile. And that pie looks amazing. I want a piece! haha
~Sheri
That's a lovely photo of you! Lots of great pics, but my favorite was that plate of breakfast food :) Followed closely by that pie!!!
ReplyDeleteI agree about the blogger comment changes. I used to receive an email each time someone commented on my blog posts, and I replied that way -- via those emails. The emails stopped coming a couple of weeks ago. And now I find out that I also can't effectively reply to people by replying on the post! Ugh. Well, as you say, we will just have to visit each other more faithfully :)
