Enjoying September

Around here we have been enjoying
our beautiful September weather.

Sitting on the porch . . .

watching the last cutting
of hay being bailed  . . .

and hauled away.

                                   The Autumn Joy . . .

is showing off by turning this
lovely shade of pink.

While the Black Eyed Susan's . . .

The Hollyhocks . . .

and the Sunflowers are going to seed.

The roses are bursting in bloom,
before Jack Frost visits
and steals away their beauty.

And so is the Honeysuckle.

Butchy is enjoying rolling in the
grass before the snows of winter arrive.

He is so short and low to the ground,
that the winter snow freezes his
sweet little belly :)

I guess you could say that
we love September around here
and we are taking in all the sights,
smells and loveliness
of the season.

I hope that you have been enjoying
it as well. . .
then again it could be Spring
where you live.

It's a beautiful world!
I hope that you can all steal away
a little time to enjoy it this weekend.

Keep Smiling!

Your blogging sister,
Connie :)

  1. September IS beautiful here isn’t it? I’m at the trailer this week packing things up. Tomorrow I will defrost the refrigerator and take the last bits of food home. We’ll spend the night here Friday night and then put the cover on Saturday morning. Another year done. It’s always a sad time of year for me. Especially because the weather is at it’s most beautiful right now. Although I did just see on the news that it’s going to be about 28° tonight! Eeek!

    1. I woke up this morning and went outside around 8:00 and burrrrrrrr it is so chilly out. Time for sweatshirts, sweaters and jackets :) I think we just might have an early winter.

  2. I love September too... except this year it seems more like August because it's so incredibly hot here! I think this year October might be my favorite fall month! I love your photos!

    1. Our weather has been very chilly in the mornings and warm in the afternoons, but far from hot. I'm thinking that we just might see an early winter around here.

  3. Hi Connie, I hope you got away for your little bit of camping. Butchie sure is cute! Do you take him to be groomed or do you do it? Fall time is such a lovely time. I don't have any autumn joy sedum here but yours are pretty. Will you be collecting seeds from some of your other flowers? Enjoy your week! Nancy

    1. Hi Nancy, I collect marigold seed and sunflower seed, but as far as my zinnias I don't know whether they are hybrid or not. I hate saving seeds if they won't come up. We got back yesterday afternoon. I will have photos of our trip posted soon. It was beautiful there and we even got a hint of Autumn color :)

  4. Beautiful views of Autumn! It looks similar in our area!

  5. Hi Connie- with the last of the hay being harvested and with winter on the way- your near ready for the snow. I've not seen snow- except thawing patches on some distant hills in the Southern Highlands- had I been there a day earlier I would have seen the snow falling. We're in Spring now- warm days and cold nights as we move towards the Summer months...it is mild now and I like the Spring. Best wishes. KEV.

    1. If I could I would pack up a box of snow and send it to you this winter. We usually have lots of it to spare, LOL.

    1. I know, I was looking at Indian corn the other day, but I didn't buy any either. I did go out to the well-house and bring in a few things to decorate the mantel. I'm starting to get in the mood for chilly Autumn weather :)

  10. Hi Connie :) BUTCHY IS SO CUTE!!! I love seeing them roll around on the ground, it's adorable! Jack's the same, too low to the ground, so I'm knitting him another sweater right now. :) Your sunflowers are huge! How nice!

    1. I know Butchy's belly is only a few inches from the ground and his little legs are so short. It always surprises me how fast he can run when he wants to :) He is probably five steps to my one, LOL.

    2. Well, just remember he has FOUR legs, we have two lol! ;)

  12. Every season is just beautiful around your place. Butchy is adorable. Bet you are enjoying this September month after all the canning and putting up you did. I have never in my life seen the center of a sunflower that big! Your flowers and vegetables make me look forward to next year and trying to make things grow better.

    1. I owe by garden to the Lord's grace and compost :) It's really nothing special that I do. I just weed, hoe, water and pick. I have been burying all of my kitchen scraps for the last four years and the earth worms seem to love them. No need for a fancy composter, I just dig holes between my plants and bury what I have.

  13. Isn't it a wonderful time of year?!
We have been enjoying these Fall hours as well.
The golds and scarlets, mossy greens, and chocolate browns of Fall are all such a treat for the eyes :)

  15. Lovely post! I like to save flower seeds but didn't have many flowers to collect seeds from this summer. We're finishing the hay season; I'll be glad when it's over!! Army worms have hit the pastures hard, leaving brown spots for the cattle to graze. We're going through another hot, dry spell. Your puppy is adorable!

    1. I'm sorry to hear about your Army Worm problem. Farmers are so depended on the weather and the insects that visit each year. Folks that have never been on a farm and have only purchased their food in the super market have no idea of the trials of farming. Then again they have no ideas of the joys and pleasures of country living either :)

  16. Yes... such autumn joy all around! I bet the hay smells are wonderful too. I love the smell of fresh cut hay.. you have such a pretty view across the road. I see you still have your sprinklers going! We are still watering our (weeds) lawns front and back. Still no rain here yet for months.... we see a few trees from our front windows, that are starting to turn gold. I love it! We planted a Quaking Aspen last spring and it has grown at least 5 feet! The tinkling sounds the leaves make are so soothing.. and I see a few of the leaves starting to turn. Not a whole lot to look at around here, living in town, but any time I can see a little gold or orange, I'm happy! We're having some nice "cool" fall days.. in the 70's and that's cool here! The nights are getting down in the 30's now and one of these days, I'm sure the freeze will kill off the rest of our flowers.. until them I'm enjoying the marigolds and geraniums and nastursiums that are continuing to show off! Keep on enjoying! Marilyn

    1. I know there is a glorious glow this time of the year that we just don't get from any of the other seasons. I love Fall. Steve put on a big pot of chili this morning and I'm looking very forward to dinner today. We like it hot, very hot . . . yummy. Great food for a cold day :) I've not felt good and I've had the chills all day. I think his chili is just what I need. Thanks for stopping by . . . I enjoy your company :)

  20. Oh Butchy is so sweet and I just love the picture of him enjoying the grass and a nice roll in it! Everything is still going strong here, still in a very HOT and Humid streak but they assure us this summer it will be a little cooler, so we are getting excited for more fall like weather to come :)

    1. Hi Connie, we have only been enjoying the cool evenings and the chilly mornings for about a week. It's a very special time of the year. We all get it at a little bit different time, but no matter when it starts it's invigorating. I'm ready to trade my tee shirts for sweaters, sweatshirts and jackets. I'm ready for laced up shoes and warm boots instead of flip flops and sandals. Bring on Autumn, I'm ready . . . but Winter, you can stay away for as long as you like :)
