Celebrating The Good Days

I'm choosing to talk about the good days.

Saturday was a good day :)

There was an air show
about three miles from our home.

Steve wasn't up to standing in line
or even seeing the whole show,
but we found a place to park outside the gate . . .

and watched for about 45 minutes
while sitting in the truck with A/C :)
It was around 90 degrees outside.

That evening I raided the garden

BokChoy

Swiss Chard & Green Onion

We had a lovely shrimp stir fry dinner.

"Celebrating the good days"

Keep Smiling!
Connie :)

As always thank you for your prayers.
We feel God's pure and wonderful love.
God bless you all.

  1. I'm glad you had a lovely distraction to liven up your(plural) day. And a/c to make it comfortable (better than standing outside!) And then to finish off the day with a garden gourmet dinner. Perfect! Was that tatsoi in one of your pictures? Such a tasty little plant. Sister, the 2 of you are still in my thoughts and prayers. Thank you for making the time to keep us updated. I need that. Hoping the summertime and the gardening will cheer you as the healing process does its job. God's continued blessing be upon you both.

    1. I had to look tatsoi up, I had never heard of it. I'll have to give it a try, so no I'm not growing it, but maybe next year:) Thanks so much for your thoughtfulness and your prayers.

    1. We were grateful for our ringside seats behind the fence and being able to sit in our comfortable truck. It's always so nice when the garden starts coming on and we can eat fresh picked vegetables:)

  10. The good days are what keep us moving forward. It sounds to me like you two had a better seat inside the truck than everyone sitting outside in that heat.
The stir fry looks so good, makes me hungry looking at it.

    1. I'm sure that the people that paid $15 a piece to sit in the sun on hot bleachers were not having near the fun we were.
It's always a pleasure when the garden starts producing.

    1. Steve would never have made it across the airstrip to where the bleachers were. Also; they were in the hot sun on a 90 degree day. That's okay when you're young and in good health but not now. We had great seats in the pickup:)

  17. Oh I am so very glad that you two figured out a way to watch the show and still stay cool and have a place to sit. There isn't a better way to end the day but eating things grown from your own garden. Never stop appreciating those good moments and enjoying them, in my thoughts and prayers daily.

  18. Hi Connie, I am so glad you and Steve got to see part of the air show. How exciting that must have been to watch. Your garden produce looks so scrumptious! Is that first picture some kind of Mache? You will be pretty busy preserving soon. Nancy

    1. Hi Nancy, I had to look up the word mache, but no it's not. It's bok choy. The photo was taken from a bird's-eye view so you don't see the white shocks.
I received you're pretty card in the mail today, thank you so much, you're a sweetheart.

  19. I tried chard for the first time the other day. It was ok. It was the frozen bag and we just cooked it and ate it. Next time I will fry it up a bit with some onions. I love bokchoy too. Your garden looks really healthy.

    1. This was my first time growing Swiss chard and probably my last. We didn't like it that much either. As for bok choy it's easy grow from seed and very yummy. It will become a garden staple.

  20. I'm so glad to hear that you figured out a way for both of you to enjoy the air show, especially in that kind of heat! I hope it put a smile on Steve's face for a little while. You know I'm always so in awe of your gardens and what you grow. Your dinner looks absolutely fabulous!

    1. Our daughter is an RN and she's working on a certification as a nutritional/wellness life coach. Watching her cook when she visits was my inspiration for growing more greens this year. There is a lot of nutrition packed in to those green leafy plants. I doubt that I could ever be a total vegetarian but I do love my vegetables.
