Another Finished Quilt

Finished Quilt
This quilt is a "Quilt As You Go"
and this photo is me pinning
two sections together before joining them.

If Acupuncture works . . .
this little mouse is pain free, LOL

There is a crease in the middle
that looks shadowy and bad in this
photo, but it's just a shadow of
where it was folded.

I laid it over the sofa to
take this photo.
It would have been better
to spread it out on the bed.
Then it would have laid flat
and looked better.

Here it is folded back up.
It feels good to have another
quilt finished.

I dug this top out from storage,
where it has been for the last 35 years.

That's right!
This is my first quilt top ever.
I made it for our daughter and by the
time I was finished she had outgrown
the little girl pattern, LOL.

I folded it up and didn't really get
interested in quilting again until
about seven years ago.

My plan now is to sandwich it with batting
and a back and hand-quilt it.
Maybe someday it will grace the bed
of a great-granddaughter :)
Our granddaughter's are also too
grown-up for this pattern.

That's it for this post.

Thanks for stopping by to visit.

Keep Smiling!
Your blogging sister,
Connie :)

  6. You amaze me with how quickly you can make a quilt. Well except for the one you started 35 years ago. Your latest one is beautiful.

  7. Your finished quilt is beautiful! You really need to finish that child's quilt! Perhaps it will grace someone's wall since everyone has outgrown it as a bed cover. The pattern is not necessarily juvenile, in my viewing! Keep us posted!

  11. Hello Connie, It's good to hear from you today. That peacock fabric is perfect in your new quilt. You have such pretty fabrics to choose from. I'm amazed that you still have a quilt from 35 years ago, but so happy you've re-discovered it and are finishing it. I know it will be cherished by some special child in the future. I'm praying for you and Steve my dear friend. For happiness, comfort and peace this holiday season.
    Blessings always,
    Betsy

  12. I had a giggle at the quilt that has languished for 35 years! I'd have TOO MUCH GUILT to have something undone for so long.I get rid of them if not complete in 2 years. Love the big blue one.

  14. You really turn those quilts out. You do such beautiful work.
My blogger friend Art left a comment on my blog underneath your comment. Didn't think you'd get back to read it so I've copied it for you.

For your friend Connie: I had cancer 17 years ago and you are right, the chemo completely messes up what tastes good, even when you are not feeling a sick. Generally very little of what I usually loved to eat tasted good. But my wife bought a special cookbook on cooking for cancer patients, and it was really helpful to us. I cannot remember the name. Best wishes to your husband and you. I know it is very difficult, but stay strong and positive, and the time just passes by and then you are yourself again.

  15. Hi Connie, Fun to read your post today. Another beautiful quilt accomplished. I hope to get back to quilting now that the holidays are over. I watched a U Tube video on quilt as you go and instead of adding strips they just quilted parts and then folded the edge back and sewed it together. You could cut the extra batting back at the seam if desired. I may see how that goes. Prayers continue to go up for you and Steve. Nancy

  16. pretty quilt pattern, I have never tried the quilt as you go but looks fun to try.
Wow a quilt top for 35 years, I have had one almost finished for about 5 years now, and I really should get to it and get it finished. I love that something you meant for your daughter could go to a great granddaughter :) Look forward to seeing it done.

  17. Another quilt done!! Wow Connie.... you are a whiz at quilts! I have not yet attempted the quilt as you go.. but I have one all lined up to do.. have the fabrics gathered and laid out and I've washed them and I've saved a video on YouTube where you don't add strips, but make the backing about an inch bigger all the way around, and then turn it up and over... looks about the easiest way for me! Do you rotate your quilts on the beds or give them as gifts or what? You must have MANY hanging around! I have a quilt I started about 12 years ago.. it's a pastels schoolhouse quilt for our king bed! I have some of the blocks done, but many to go. Wonder if I'll ever get it done??? don't know... I'm not too inspired to do those big block quilts anymore. I want something fast and easy. I also have a large star strata table centerpiece that is almost done, but not quite.. is not really my colors anymore so haven't finished it! But I tell myself, it would be a nice gift for someone else! Hope you had a good weekend and I pray 2020 brings you and Steve much healing and joy and better times. Hugs.. Marilyn

  18. Connie, I am loving the quilts. You are doing a fine job. My aunt Helen was a quilter. Wish I had one of her quilts. Ted's mom also made quilts. Ted has a nice one she made for him. Hope you and Steve are doing well. Ted started another maintenance round of chemo today. I hope he can get his energy back quicker this time. Worries me at times. Blessings to you and Steve for a better new year. I am praying for all of us to have a great year. xoxo, love, Susie

  19. Good morning, Connie! I woke up this morning with you and Steve on my mind and prayed for you as I got ready for the day. Your quilt is beautiful, and doesn't it feel good to get long-stashed projects completed? I'm working on a few of them in my sewing room this week. Have a beautiful last day of 2019, and I wish you much joy and love in 2020. Emmanuel. God is with you.

  20. Hi Connie! I came over from Henny Penny's blog. You mentioned how much you would love to stroll through the little country towns in England. I agree and did have a chance to do a little of this back in 1996 and 1998. My father's family is also from England. My grandfather took his wife and kids and left London for the states in 1920. Dad was 13. We never knew our British relatives... and my grandparents died when I was very young. But the British life has always been fascinating. I watch all those British mysteries on Acorn - sometimes just for the beautiful scenery. And I too have James Herriot's books!

  21. You are such an amazing quilter, I just love this quilt you made! How nostalgic to find the very first quilt you made for your daughter, yes, you need to finish it, it is beautiful! I set out the Joy pillow you sent to me last Christmas, and it was a real blessing to enJOY it again :) Many blessings to you and Steve, praying that 2020 is a better year for you both!!!!

  22. Connie I enjoyed your comment about England so much, and was going to say...you want to let's take off to England together?? and how about Rian's comment above. Maybe she can go too. :) Hope you and Steve are doing well this first day of the new year. I think about you both so very often. Your quilts are just beautiful. Don't know how you get so many made and so fast. Can't wait to see your daughter's quilt all finished. It looks so sweet. Love, Henny
