Mid June Make-Overs

What a busy week I've had.

Monday was the start of my weekly chore list,

weeding and hoeing the garden.

Then Tuesday the men came

that I hired to cut down three trees

and widen the driveway with more gravel.

Steve and I had been talking about

bringing in more gravel for a few years,

so I thought it was time to get it done.

Notice this tree . . .

why did someone plant it

under the wires like that?

After it's been removed and

new gravel brought in.

Before

~~~***~~~
In between that and having one of
my lovely nieces visit me
on Thursday and Friday,
I managed to spruce up my old
yard chairs with spray paint
and stencils one of them.
As well as get the lawn mowed.
After
~~~***~~~

I cut some pretty bouquets

for the house . . .

I love bringing in fresh flowers

in the summer.

Whether I have company or not :)

Like I said  . . .

one busy week :)

Thanks for visiting

Remember to put God first

in your life.

Bless you all!

Your blogging sister,

Connie :)

  1. Oh Connie----your roses! Aren't they a beautiful sight? And you have the lovely blue Cornflower in your garden, I've tried to grow it but without success.

    1. I'm not sure if corn flowers and bachelor buttons are the same, but I bought a pack of bachelor buttons about 3 years ago and now they just reseed themselves every year. Maybe you should try just one more time :)

  2. Your roses are incredible! I made two bouquets this week- one of gardenias and one of big white hydrangea blooms!

    2. I agree, you certainly had a busy week plus your visitors. Lovely pic of the roses and the back drop of the field. Great remake on your chairs!

    4. I am in GA so maybe that is it. I plant in shade. I find the Nikki Blues really hardy but I have other ones too. I don't do anything but water if droopy in the morning.

    1. It has been a busy week. I just finished pruning my roses. 18 bushes. I find if I prune them back once a month during the summer they bloom all summer long. It's a lot of work but it's worth it. It's late afternoon here and I just got out of the shower and do not intend on doing any more work until Monday, wahoo!

  4. What lovely flowers you have in your yard and also the bouquets you brought in. June is such a wonderful month, busy but full of flowers and fresh fruit and veggies from the garden (or the market).
    You gave that lawn chair a whole new look and I really like it. The Farmers Market stencil is the perfect touch.
    Take good care of yourself :)

    1. Those chairs were starting to look a little tacky, but I could tell they still have a lot of wear left in them. It's amazing what you can do with spray paint.

  6. Gosh, that chair refresh is just lovely! What a difference. We did a huge driveway project right when my husband retired. It was something we talked about for a few decades. I am glad we waited until our children were grown. I lost a few feet of our play yard. Now it just means less to mow.

  13. Hi Connie, You are simply amazing, my friend. I love all your photos and all that you are getting done around the crafty home cottage! :-) The new driveway looks excellent. Your garden looks wonderful. And it’s so cool the way you stencil painted the chair with Farmers Market. So, I must ask … do you take fresh veggies from your garden to a farmer’s market there? Thanks for another fine post. Blessings to you. John

    1. Hi John, no I do not take any of my vegetables or fruit to the Farmers market, but I share with friends and neighbors and I have a stand out front with a sign that says "free take what you need". I always have more than I can use.

  14. You weren't kidding about being BUSY! You got so much done, in just a week. Your flowers are so pretty. The "new" driveway looks terrific, and the chair-back being stencilled is pure genius.

    1. Thanks! Sometimes this place seems like a lot more work than I want, but then again I need something to keep me busy. It's too easy to just sit around and read or watch TV. I think movement keeps us young. At least it keeps our joints from stiffening up.

    2. I agree Connie! It’s so important for us to keep moving as we age. You’re doing an awesome job of it too!

    1. Cutting flowers and bringing him in the house is one of my great pleasures of this time of the year. It's taken a few years for those roses along the fence to grow and be so showy. They are a dream come true, hard work that very much worth it.

  20. Hi Connie- Yes you have had a great time of getting things done- your vegetable patch looks very neat and tidy- it will be great as summer goes along and things begin to ripen. Cold here now with Winter's arrival - snow to the North and South and we are all rugged up with layers of cloths to keep warm. Have a great week there. Best Wishes. KEV.

  23. You sure had a busy week! I wish I could grow flowers like you do... they are beautiful. I once had a rose bush for eight years and it yielded one flower, so I pulled it up and planted hostas instead! I love how you refinished your chairs, I especially like the stencil.

  24. Oh Connie.. I missed this post somehow! You certainly were busy that week! Glad you got your long planned project done in widening the driveway and having more gravel put down. Sure looks nice. I'm sure someone planted that tree when it was very small, never dreaming it would reach up to the power lines. We have done that in our front yard... planted two very small trees just 3 years ago, never dreaming they would grow so tall!! Our quaking aspen started as a 4 foot stick.. and now it is over 20 feet tall and the branches are starting to touch the line that brings phone and internet to our house.. so we need to get out and prune off those branches. Your garden is looking wonderful.. and those chair makeovers great.. they look brand new! And your photo of the roses on the fence, with the hayfields in the background.. wow.. that is postcard worthy! Awesome roses. Do you have to water them much?? Your flowers in the house are wonderful.. I bet you picked some of those fence roses! Thinking of you... Marilyn
