This morning I walked out into the back yard
to see if yesterday's evening hail storm
did any major damage.
This lovely creature was resting
in my herb garden.
Look at how amazingly perfect he was created.
I love viewing God's art work, up close.
Oh, and not much damage was done
in the yard.
Only a few small branches blown
from the trees.
Just enjoying life's simple pleasures,
I love dragonflies! They're so beautiful and unique. Nice shot.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you had minimal damage from the hail.
Thanks for the sweet comment on my dragonfly photo. He is a beauty isn't he? Have a great day, Connie :)
DeleteSo glad to hear that you had little damage. This has to be one of the most beautiful dragonflies I have ever seen, his/her colouring is stunning and how lucky were you to get the shot of him - really lovely. Thank you so much for sharing it! A x
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for stopping in to visit, and yes this dragonfly was a beauty. It just happened that I had, had my camera out yesterday evening and I left it setting on the kitchen counter. So, when I saw him, I ran in and grabbed the camera. Lucky shot, because as soon as the camera clicked, he flew away. So nice to hear from you, I love comments, Connie :)
DeleteHi Connie, what a stunning photo of your visitor, I've never seen one like that. Glad you did not get too much storm damage x
ReplyDeleteHello Anna, I was lucky that my camera was so handy, or I would have missed this shot. The minute I took it, he must have heard the camera, because he flew away. I love the colors and the structure of his body, he is a marvelous creation. Thanks for your sweet comment. I just love hearing from my readers and getting to know you better. Connie :)
DeleteIt is perfect isn't it? Those wings look like stained glass windows!

DeleteHave a great day, Connie :)
How beautiful and just outside your home wonderful.Am pleased for you that you didnt have any storm damage.Love Jill xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Jill, I heard later that there was a small tornado hitting down in parts of our area. Steve said that he could see it from his window and work. Tornadoes are new to our area . . . but we've seen a few small ones in the past ten years or so. I don't know why that is, maybe the increase in humidity as our dessert area grows and there are more people planting trees and farming and using more of the irrigation. It's a mystery to me. I've never been much of a science buff. Have a great week, Connie :)
DeleteGorgeous dragonfly!...
ReplyDeleteThank you Janet.
DeleteHe is beautiful, and such a gorgeous picture.
ReplyDeleteDragonflies seem to love my oldest daughter as they are always landing on her. I call her the dragonfly whisperer ;)
Isn't it just lovely to stop and enjoy nature.
Happy to hear not too much damage from the hail storm.
Hi Tracy, I wonder what it is about her that draws the dragonflies in. Something in her body chemistry, I guess. Maybe you could start a Dragonfly Whispers Journal with photos of her and her friends from nature. Have a wonderful week and thanks so much for popping in. Connie :)

DeleteLove the photo! What type of camera do you use?
ReplyDeleteHailstones in July - sounds like the UK!
Lizzie x
Hi Lizzie, thanks for the sweet comment. I have two cameras this one is an Olympus E-500.
DeleteIt has interchangeable lens. My other is limited to a fixed lens, it is a Nikon COOLPIX 8700. I almost sold it to a friend last year . . . and then was so happy when she decided to not buy it. It is smaller and with the fixed lens it is much easier to pack around with me. I've had it for a longtime now and I do not intent on ever think about parting with it again. Now that I'm a blogger, it is nice to have a smaller camera that you can carry easily. Have a great week, Connie :)
Hi Connie! That is a fantastic picture. Look at how fine and whispery the wings are, with all those little veins or whatever they are. So glad that you didn't get much damage. Sometimes I wonder how the flowers and small plants can withstand hail. Hope you have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteKathy M.
Hi Kathy, the hail did bruise some of the flowers and plants, but two days later, they were all perky and looking fine again. About the dragonfly, I appreciate his wings as well, all the little veins as you called them (sounds good to me, I am not into science and have know ideas of the correct terminology). I just look at how beautifully he was created. Have a wonderful week, Connie :)

DeleteWow, so beautiful and such an amazing photo! I'm glad the storm didn't cause too much damage.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much!!! I hope that your week is filled with many simple pleasures . . . enjoy!
DeleteConnie :)
Hi Connie! What a beauty! I just finished a "Dancing Dragonflies" Illustration and when I was studying the various dragonflies I found this particular one is called a "Twelve-Spotted Skimmer Dragonfly"! You captured a beautiful shot of him with your camera! Thanks for sharing ...
ReplyDeleteHello Brandy, thanks for giving my dragonfly a name. I know that I have seen some in our area that are green and some that are a bright turquoises color. They are amazingly created. Have a wonderful week, and thanks for popping in, Connie :)
DeleteGreat Beautiful Pic!
ReplyDeleteHi Myrna, thank you and thanks for stopping in for a visit. It is always a pleasure to hear from you. Have a marvelous week. Connie :)
DeleteHi Connie! Crazy weather everyone is having this year! Great photo! Did you know that when you reply to a comment here in comments the person will never see it unless they come back to read it? It does not go to their mail box or blog, I think a lot of people assume they see your reply! I don't even know why they have that option??? Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteCArol
Hello Carol, Thanks so much for stopping by and for the information that you left about comments and email. I know that my readers do not get my replies, that's is why I visit their blogs and leave them there, too. It might be simpler to have them go through to their email (actually I do not know how to do that). The other side is, I might get in the habit of hurrying through my day and not visiting everyone that leaves a comment . . . this way I always see their latest post . . . and I do not miss out. For that reason, I'm not sure if I want to change over. Have a marvelous week (I would still like to know how you set that up . . . I have some friends that want me to help them set up a blog, and they might want to use that option). Thanks so much. Connie :)
DeleteHow can I possibly be scared of these beautiful creatures.
ReplyDeleteDear Mary, I am sorry that dragonflies scare you. They truly are very nice creatures. The females appear to have a stinger, but that is not what it is, it is the way they lay their eggs. If one gets close to you and you shoo it away, it does not get defensive like a yellow jacket or a bee. It will not come back and get you. They are really very gentle souls. I hope this helps. Have a wonderful week and thanks so much for stopping by. Connie :)
DeleteHi there - that’s a really good image of a dragonfly. I tried to get some pictures this summer, but did not get anything like this! One of the interesting things is that you mentioned a hail storm - big insects like this don’t fly well in the cold - so that could be why it was sitting still. I try (which out much success!) to get up early to take butterflies and dragons!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the follow - feel free to recommend my blog to people who you think would like it - as you can tell I spend a bit of time on and I don’t want it to be a secret!

Great shot! I have always loved dragonflies:-)
ReplyDeleteHi Kathiey, Thank you . . . I am very pleased that you like it. Have a great weekend. I'll have to stop by and see what you're cooking up. Connie :)
