Journaling Through Life

I thought that I would just share
a few more journal pages with you today.
I really enjoy working in my art journal,
while watching TV in the evening with Steve.
Especially when he is enjoying some
of his redneck programs, like:
 Ice Road Truckers, Axe Men,
Swamp Men, Mountain Men . . .
 every time I watch one,
it seems to me like it is
the same program we saw the week
before, or the week before that.
Oh well, the nice part is
I can draw and enjoy myself,
while he's enjoying his shows
. . .and
we are both enjoying just being together.

******************

I don't remember the advertisement,
or the article
that I cut this question mark from,
but when I saw it
I just had to cut it out
and draw a page around it.

******************

Sometimes I just see a quote
and have to put it in my journal.
It's fun just haphazardly designing a page
as your imagination just drifts along . . .
it's like a silly little stroll
down a lazy little dirt path.
You're enjoying the process,
even though you don't know where it going.

******************

When I'm journaling in the family room
in front of the TV,
I prefer to use clean rather
than messy media.
Therefore; I like using colored pencil,
then when I'm finished with
the colored pencil,
to give it some pop,
I go over it with colored chalk
and old & dollar store make-up
(blush, eye shadow, etc).  I use
a cotton ball or a tissue to apply it.
On this page I found my ukelele player
on the web and the two bathing beauties
are cut from an old vintage
McCalls pattern.
If you do not journal and you're looking
for a relaxing pastime,
I suggest you give it a try.
I'm having so much fun!

Well, there it is, another post.
I try to do one a week.
Thank you all for stopping by
and visiting.
If I could I would have tea
and scones waiting on the table
for you when you drop in.
Have a wonderful week
and
keep blogging.

Connie :)

  1. How fun! Connie, would you consider changing your settings so that people can reply to your comments via email? Right now the way you are set up I can't reply to your comments. You are what we call a "noreply blogger".

I am learning as I go. Thank you stopping by. I am getting your comments just fine and able to post comments on our blog. Connie :)

  2. I love your pages and the image of you sitting with Steve working on them. All of my art is done on the fly and I wouldn't want it any other way. You've created such happy pages that it makes me want to pull out my journals which have been rather neglected during my recent move.

    1. Thanks for the sweet comments. Get out your journals . . . it is such a fun way to relax. I feel like I'm designing my own personal coloring book . . . the grown up version. I spent many happy hours as a child coloring . . . now I journal. I guess you could say I'm enjoying my second childhood, LOL Have a great week, Connie :)

  3. What a great journal you have! I love the way your mind runs...BTW, I made my tripod bag this week at my mom's, and I made 26 water bottle bags for her craft show in November - she sells things to raise money for her charitable organization (she makes fabric things - clothing, quilts and blankets, etc. for disadvantaged children and for nursing homes) - we found the jeans in a thrift store - 10 pair for $1! That made the water bottle bags about $.02 each! Loved the idea! Thanks so much!

  9. Hi Connie, I just love your journal pages, I love the pastel tones you use, rather than in your face colours, there is so much to look at and enjoy, the way you do it. That question mark is amazing - I really thought you had done each little post it note yourself - lol. I might even dust off my old hournal and have a go now......thanks for the inspiration. Anne x

    1. Hello Anne, Thank you for your sweet comments about my journal, and I do want to encourage you to dust yours off and start journaling. I started mine on the hopes that one day when I'm long gone, my daughter and granddaughters would find them and consider them a treasure of their grandma's life. So, along with the artsy stuff I include personal diary pages . . . things to help them know who I am and from what roots they came from. Have a great weekend. Happy journaling, Connie :)

    1. Oh my goodness, aren't you sweet. I do have fun journaling . . . the process has a way of carrying you into the pages. It's only a page in a book . . . right? Not an expensive canvas, not something special for someone else. Just a page in a book . . there is a freeing of the soul that lets you just draw, doodle, scribble . . . whatever and play with each little area in such a carefree way. I believe that everyone that has a stressful life should start an art journal. I wish that I would have started back when I was still working. Have a great weekend, Connie :)

  21. Hi Connie, this is wonderful! I have never thought of having an art journal. I can relate to those t.v. shows, and we do the same thing ... he watches and I read or now I am crocheting an afghan. I like it best when the Mariners are on, but we watch the shows you mentioned too. Ice Road Truckers makes me too nervous though.

    Have a wonderful weekend,

  22. Hey Connie, what a great idea to journal while hubby has the remote control, hehe......I have to admit I enjoy Ice Road Truckers, although the hype drives me a little nuts, I like finding out about such interesting jobs. Swamp people also gets a look in with my boys and that really bugs me but hey it takes all sorts to make up this world.......

Loved seeing your journal pages and I was wondering what medium you used to colour the pages, thanks for sharing the info. It must be fun to look back on your journals over the years . You are one very creative lady......

    Have a great weekend,

    1. I use a lot of different mediums in my journals, but when I'm working on them in the evening I like to use colored pencils. They are not messy like inks and paints, so it works great while watching TV. Sometimes the next day I will go over somethings on the page with colored chalk or old eyeshadow. I seems to kick up the colors and blends well to create soft lines. I have found that buying eye shadow at the dollar store works great for my art. It is cheap and comes in so many pretty colors. I am not big on wasting money. I never throw out blush or eye shadows . . . and I find that they work best on matt paper and on watercolor paper. If you try this let me know what you think.
Have a great day, Connie :)
