Feeling A Bit Silly

One of my dear nieces is having another baby.
I purchased my gift and then
decided to make this little door hanger to include.

While I was in the mood to sew,
I decided to make this bag to hold my gift.
After all when you are carrying babies from  car to grandmas,
 to shopping, to doctor, etc.
You can not have enough bags, right?

This was a plain white cloth bag
that I purchased in a package of three bags at WalMart.
They are fun to embellish and make great carry-alls.

What I didn't do was check to see if the gift would fit,
before adding the pockets and trim.
LOL
Well, I needed about another inch of fabric.
Leave it to me :)
So now the gift, the pillow sign and the bag,
 will all go into a paper gift bag.

Have you ever made a mistake as silly as this?

This is the pocket on the other side.
They haven't picked a name for their new little girl yet.
So this will have to do, as far as personalizing the bag.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Next time . . .
I'll check the size of the bag . . .
I could have made one from scratch,
but I've got this finished and it is what I'm going with.
Anyway, I'm not going to another little Miss Mansfield, baby-shower, LOL
Oh, silly me  :)
Connie
P.S.  I am planning a Give-Away
to celebrate my 1st Year Anniversary as a blogger.
I know what I want to give, but need to get to
the bookstore and see if I can find it.
Be sure to check back :)
  1. Well Connie,
    you did your best, and it looks fine. I am sure your niece will find use for it. There is always something extra to carry when one has small babies.
    I made a shirt for on of my sons many many years ago. When it was all finished i went to put it on him. Guess what! i had forgotten to sew the button holes in and put buttons on.. we all make silly mistakes.):
  2. You aren't silly at all! It's from the mistakes we learn... your niece will love it and I am sure she will be so glad as you say carrying the baby and needing a bag to put the diapers, bottle etc. inside. It's so personal and lovely! Congratulations to one year blogging! It's great to "know" you! Christa
    1. It's not my first mistake or will it be my last. They are easy to laugh at, when they are little mistakes like this one :)
  4. What a bummer that it was so close but just not big enough. Oh well. They'll love the gift just the same. I make mistakes like that too. It's frustrating but the recipient may never know or realize. What a great gift! They're going to love it all! :-)
  6. That is adorable, Connie! I love it all and I'm sure she will, too. Maybe you could decorate a plain kraft bag with the colors or some images that match the gifts.
    1. Hi Kathy, great idea, but the shower was last Saturday. I did have a beautiful market bag in the closet that I had never used, so it worked perfectly :)
      Have a great day :)
  16. Hi Connie,
    Very cute! I love the door sign especially. Another friend of mine is having her second child so I started knitting another baby blanket. Whew. I'm an old lady compared to all my child-bearing friends! tee hee
    Homemade gifts are the best! I'm sure Miss Manfield will love it all.
    Congrats on your upcoming anniversary! Way to go.
    Hugs,
    Kay
    1. Hi Kay, it is funny, because I visit so many sites where the blogger has stopped posting. I have to much fun and I've met so many lovely ladies (among them, you, you sweetie pie. :) I plan on doing this for a very long time.
      I know what you mean about friends being so young. My daughter is experiencing that, too. She is back in school with girls that have mothers her age . . . she says it's so weird. Her daughters are 5 and 6, but she waited until she was 32 to have her first.
      Be sure and come back next week and enter my Give-away :)
