I am overwhelmed by your prayers and comments.
Butchy is home . . .
we have got to keep a very close eye on him
for the next week or so and watch for any infection or
kidney problems.
As you can see he has a drain tube in his abdomen.
As you can see he has a drain tube in his abdomen.
He is very sore and had to have many stitches and staples
inside and out,
(taken last summer on a little road trip) |
But he’s a little tuffy and he’s got lots of family love.
Butchy’s doctor is Steve’s niece and told us to call her
night or day if we have questions or need help.
(Taken on Butchy's first birthday) |
If everything mends well he will be running around the house
in a week or two feeling like his old self.
You have all touched my heart with your kindness and friendship.
Thank you for your prayers.
Connie
He may be cute but he's certainly a tough guy. I am so relieved that he is home and will mend under your tender care. I envision him running around, tail wagging, very soon. Until then, positive thoughts from here to your home.
ReplyDeleteThank you Melanie, I appreciate all your loving kindness and positive words. They truly help. Thank you :)
DeleteSo glad to hear this. Continued prayers for a speedy recovery Butchy!
ReplyDelete~Trisha
Thank you so much . . . it is so good to have him home :)
DeleteThis makes my weekend a happy one. Go, Butchy!
ReplyDeleteHi Donna, he's a little tuffy. He's very weak and sore but much more comfortable now that he's home. He's just going to take some time to heal.
DeleteI am sorry that I missed what happened, but oh, your poor baby there. Glad he is on the mend and having lots of love around him. So awful to see your pets sick.
ReplyDeleteThank you, he is such a sweet little friend, it kills me to see him in such pain.
DeleteConnie, I can tell your Butchy is part of the family...and if people are going to own a dog, that's the way it should be. I hope he recovers and brings you joy for a long time. xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteHi Susie, thank you for your well wishes. I really appreciate all my sweet blogging friends and your kind words.
DeleteConnie,
ReplyDeleteI just started following your blog awhile back and must have missed your last post so I went back and read it. I am so, so sorry about what happened to Butchy. This is just the worst nightmare for a pet owner. I am so relieved your little sweetie came through it okay, it looks like he had some serious injuries. I have two small dogs, too, and I always worry about them near larger ones. Give him a hug from me.
XO,
Jane
Hello Jane, It's a very sad story. The other dog had been fenced in, but dug a hole under the fence. He was very aggressive, it could have been a child just the same as Butchy. Also this dog never had any shots . . . The fact that Butchy was up to date on all of his shots and the fact that he is a bit over weight, is a big reason he still with us today. Our Vet says, she doesn't recommend dogs to be over-weight, but in this case it gave Butchy some padding between his skin and his organs.
DeleteOh! Bless him Connie, sweet little dog and love the photo of his Birthday wearing his hat, so adorable...all the best and will keep him in my prayers...take care.
ReplyDeleteluv CHRISSYxx
Hi Chrissy, thanks so much. He still needs prayers. He's not out of the dog house, so to speak, yet.
DeleteThank God he's ok! I'll keep on praying for his recovery. Welcome home Butchy :)!
ReplyDeleteThank you so very much.
DeleteOh I'm so glad to hear he is home with you and on the mend. Bless his little heart, Wilma sends him kisses.
ReplyDeletehugs, Dorothy
Hi Dorothy, thank you for your sweet words. He is much more comfortable here at home.
DeleteGlad Butchy is home. Now he can heal. He really got beat up bad! Sheesh!
ReplyDeleteYes he did.
DeleteOH, so glad to hear he's going to make it!!! I am so mad at that crappy dog that did this!! Now, you give him anything he wants..Steak chicken, ice cream...Auntie Carol Said so!
ReplyDeleteDon't worry "Auntie Carol" he's being pampered.
DeleteWhew! I'm SO glad he's ok! I've been thinking about him and praying that he'd be ok. It's so great to see an update and hear the good news. Best wishes for a quick healing! Take care. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your prayers. He is so sore and bruised, but the pain medicine is helping him rest. We're watching him close and can see tidy improvements already.
DeleteI am SO glad to hear this, and to see him! He is so sad looking. I hope the doctor gave you pain pills? It is really amazing what some of these cute little dog can go through. Years ago, a cute little dog Butchy's size came running out of nowhere and we could not stop in time, we hit her. We could feel the back wheels go over her body. We knocked at the man's door and told him, then we went out looking, because his dog had limped away. Turns out she was fine!!
ReplyDeleteWow! That was one tuff little dog. I know that sometimes accidents happen, that we have no control over, but it's always sad when someone or something gets hurt.
DeleteAwww, my heart breaks for Butchy ~ but he has the best medicine of all ~ your family's love :) I'm sure you must feel just a tad better now that he's back home ~ Judi
ReplyDeleteOh, it is so good to have him home. That first day after the surgery, the clinic was so nice and give me a chair where I could sit and pet his little head while he was in recovery. I really think it helped when he woke up to know that his mommy was there.
DeleteI am so happy you posted an update. Poor little guy! Praying for no infection.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Sandy. We appreciate your prayers, so much.
DeleteGood to hear he's home. Poor little guy.
ReplyDeleteGood to have him home :)
DeleteI'm so glad to hear he is home and come through his operation. Obviously he is not out of the woods yet but I'm sure with your loving care and all the love and thoughts coming his way, he will heal well. Take care of you too during this difficult time.
ReplyDeleteAnne xx
Hi Anne, thank you so much for your sweet words of encouragement. It is very hard to see him like this, but he is getting the best of care.
DeleteHi Connie...When I read your post yesterday, I did, indeed, say a prayer for Butchy. I am SO HAPPY he is home, with people he loves. Thank the Lord. Hope he heals and recuperates quickly. Susan
ReplyDeleteHi Susan, you have no idea how much this touches my heart. Thank you.
DeleteI prayed for little Butchy and I am so glad to read that he is back home. Furbabies are loved as much as our kids. He is such a little sweetheart. Nancy
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy, thank you for your prayers. He's not out of the woods yet, but we have high hopes.
DeleteOhh...the pictures of him are so sad with that shaved fur and all those stitches. Poor Butchy. I'm just glad he's OK.
ReplyDeleteHi Melanie, he's happy to be home and he's getting pampered. He's so sore that all he's doing is laying around and resting, but that's what he needs. The pain pills he's taking are helping with that, too.

ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteOh I am so glad Butchy made it through his own trial. What kind of doggie is he....he almost looks like my Hyko. Hyko knew no fear, he was a bolognese (kind of like a Bishion) Yes do have to keep an eye opened to his every move, even when going outside. Dogs are pretty tough and their pain tolarance is pretty high, Praying everything heals quickly for Butchy, even his mind. I like Butchy's 1st birthday hat...cute.
ReplyDeleteHi Louise, Butchy is a mixed bred, so we just say he's a mutt. That fits our family perfectly. I'm British, Irish and Dutch and Steve is Germany, Jewish and American Indian . . . so I guess we are mutts, too :) Thank you for your prayers, they are greatly appreciated.
DeleteLots and lots of prayers for your little man.......xxxxxxx
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteI'm so happy he made it through the attack and now he has you and Steve to help him through these next few weeks. My prayer is he continues to improve and it will not change him. He has went through something very traumatic, physically and emotionally. And I pray, God gives you and Steve strength and comfort. Blessings to you and Butchy! Please keep us updated! Roxie
ReplyDeleteHi Roxie, thank you for all of your prayers. It is a very traumatic ordeal, but our hopes are high.
DeleteVery good! I was wondering how Butchy was getting along.
ReplyDeleteHe's mending. It will take a few weeks, but he's a little trooper and our hopes are high.
DeleteBless him. He looks rightfully very sorry for himself. I am sure with lots of love and care from you he will soon be back to normal. Take care xxxx
ReplyDeleteHi Fran, he's happy to be home and now we'll just take good care of him and see how the next couple of weeks go. Our hopes are high.
DeleteWith a great family like Butchy's He will make a fine recovery. We will still pray until he is fully recovered.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. We appreciate every prayer.
Deletepoor little thing, I hope he gets better quickly and back to normal asap,
ReplyDeleteBH x
Oh, I hope so, too. He's such a good little boy.

DeleteConnie, I am so glad he is home..what a tragedy to happen to your Butchy....so sorry...I know what it is like to see our sweet furbabies suffer.give him a hug from me..
ReplyDeleteLove, Mona
Thank you Mona . . . it is hard, but we are seeing little improvements each day. I'm sure that when the tube comes out this week he will feel better. Then next will be the staples.
Deletepoor sweet baby..
ReplyDeletebeautiful dogie..
Thank you for your caring.
DeleteI am so glad to hear that Butchy is back home. I'm sure that while he's on the mend he'll be getting lots of extra loving
ReplyDeleteI've found that the easiest way to get his pills down him is by wrapping them in a piece of turkey. He may never want to go back to dog food :)
DeleteConnie your post came and went so I am late posting to you. I am SO relieved for you that your darling Butchy is back - albeit with an uphill ride to full recovery ahead. He will get better all the faster for being with the family he loves. Lxxx
ReplyDeleteI agree, home is the best place to heal. Thank you for your encouragement and tender words.
DeleteAwwww, Butchy is home and healing, Sending get Well real soon. My little Finn just had his second birthday, He sends "lots of licks!" Have a good Monday, Mary
ReplyDeleteHi it's Thursday and Butchy is doing much better. He had his tube removed Tuesday evening, now in about a week he can have his staples removed :)
DeleteOh Connie, I'm going to go hug my little Dixie Doodle right now. brb....ok I hugged him. I will barely let him outside anymore by himself for two reasons. I've heard coyotes and owls, and seen hawks bigger than him and a fox in our front yard. SO scary for the little guys. I hope your little Butch is going to be ok. What an ordeal. I had no idea it was this bad.
ReplyDeleteI popped over here to tell you I got my books I ordered from your gift card and I wanted to thank you yet one more time. I posted it on my blog.
Cindy Bee
Hi Cindy, thanks for the sweet visit. It is a scary world out there for these little guys. If we lived on open land instead of a neighborhood, I would be afraid of coyotes, too. This dog was kept fenced in, but he dug under the fence, that's how he was able to attack Butchy. You just never know.
DeleteComing over to visit your blog :)
Visiting from Cindy Bee.
ReplyDeletePlease give your sweet lamb hugs and noses kisses from me and my gang.
Get better soon baby boy.
Jane and the cats
xxxxxx
Hi Jane, thank you so much for the sweet visit. Our Butchy is getting better day by day :)
DeleteLate in seeing what happened. Gosh, I'm so glad Butchy is gonna be okay and is home! Hope he gets better and is bouncing around soon.
ReplyDeleteHe's slowing getting better. We see a little bit of the old Butch more everyday. His appetite has gone and I can see that he is loosing weight, so that's something I'm concerned about. I'm sure in a week or two he'll be running around like old times :)
DeleteHi Connie, you have obviously had a stressful time and so lovely to see Butchy on the mend. He couldn't have picked a better family to take care of him :)) Cheers Jane x
ReplyDeleteHello Jane, that was such a sweet thing to say, you have melted my heart :)
DeleteOh my what a poor wee mite. I was so sorry to read what had happened and hope he will be his old self soon. Look after yourself as well as Butchy Connie, you have had such a shock and will still worry until he is out of the woods.
ReplyDeleteHugs
