Butchy Is Back Home

I am overwhelmed by your prayers and comments.
Butchy is home  . . . we have got to keep a very close eye on him

for the next week or so and watch for any infection or kidney problems.
As you can see he has a drain tube in his abdomen.

He is very sore and had to have many stitches and staples inside and out,

(taken last summer on a little road trip)
But he’s a little tuffy and he’s got lots of family love.

Butchy’s doctor is Steve’s niece and told us to call her

night or day if we have questions or need help.

(Taken on Butchy's first birthday)
If everything mends well he will be running around the house

in a week or two feeling like his old self.

You have all touched my heart with your kindness and friendship.

Thank you for your prayers.

Connie

  1. He may be cute but he's certainly a tough guy. I am so relieved that he is home and will mend under your tender care. I envision him running around, tail wagging, very soon. Until then, positive thoughts from here to your home.

  6. Connie,

I just started following your blog awhile back and must have missed your last post so I went back and read it. I am so, so sorry about what happened to Butchy. This is just the worst nightmare for a pet owner. I am so relieved your little sweetie came through it okay, it looks like he had some serious injuries. I have two small dogs, too, and I always worry about them near larger ones. Give him a hug from me.

    XO,
    Jane

    1. Hello Jane, It's a very sad story. The other dog had been fenced in, but dug a hole under the fence. He was very aggressive, it could have been a child just the same as Butchy. Also this dog never had any shots . . . The fact that Butchy was up to date on all of his shots and the fact that he is a bit over weight, is a big reason he still with us today. Our Vet says, she doesn't recommend dogs to be over-weight, but in this case it gave Butchy some padding between his skin and his organs.

  13. I am SO glad to hear this, and to see him! He is so sad looking. I hope the doctor gave you pain pills? It is really amazing what some of these cute little dog can go through. Years ago, a cute little dog Butchy's size came running out of nowhere and we could not stop in time, we hit her. We could feel the back wheels go over her body. We knocked at the man's door and told him, then we went out looking, because his dog had limped away. Turns out she was fine!!

  22. Oh I am so glad Butchy made it through his own trial. What kind of doggie is he....he almost looks like my Hyko. Hyko knew no fear, he was a bolognese (kind of like a Bishion) Yes do have to keep an eye opened to his every move, even when going outside. Dogs are pretty tough and their pain tolarance is pretty high, Praying everything heals quickly for Butchy, even his mind. I like Butchy's 1st birthday hat...cute.

  37. Oh Connie, I'm going to go hug my little Dixie Doodle right now. brb....ok I hugged him. I will barely let him outside anymore by himself for two reasons. I've heard coyotes and owls, and seen hawks bigger than him and a fox in our front yard. SO scary for the little guys. I hope your little Butch is going to be ok. What an ordeal. I had no idea it was this bad.

I popped over here to tell you I got my books I ordered from your gift card and I wanted to thank you yet one more time. I posted it on my blog.

    1. Hi Cindy, thanks for the sweet visit. It is a scary world out there for these little guys. If we lived on open land instead of a neighborhood, I would be afraid of coyotes, too. This dog was kept fenced in, but he dug under the fence, that's how he was able to attack Butchy. You just never know.
